It's sad that we need this.
Children should be taught how to check sources, how to check facts, how to recognize logical fallacies, the historical method, the scientific method, well there is a ton of other things.
But what it comes down to is that we should not be waiting until college to introduce the fundamental conceptual tools needed to think in a logical manner.

I need to continue this series!
I'm told they are starting to push this more now in schools for Gen Z because nowadays people will share a link to a website article and you have to immediately ask "Who is the author, what are their skills, etc. ect." I think the internet has definitely showed us the importance of checking sources in the last few years and brought the importance of checking sources to the more of the public's mind ("fake news"). Not everyone needs to be a PhD or anything, but even basic skills in source criticism is a must in my mind!

@@theravenswoodacademy8796Not when there is now DNA evidence supporting Gavin's theory, it's kinda hard to deny nowadays. And the other question you should be asking yourself is, if the Vikings made landfall 500 years BEFORE Columbus, who else got to America before Columbus?

1421, let’s share what instigated the hypothesis, like your previous comment about the WWII Holocaust denier, it would be interesting to also explain Geven Mensiez’s technical background as he read Maps all his life during Royal Navy days, he questioned where did the first maps came from! What Columbus BS discovered America means.. So, maps are made through cartography and who was able to make and draw maps that in Europe in 16th century.? It’s a professional question rather than’Source criticism’ as a source of inspiration. Kindly do read or at least watch an hour long YT video..

So your argument is that only an expert can have a say? But what practical skills does Menzies have that a bookworm doesn't? By your own definition, only someone invokved in World War 2 should be able to pontificate on a subject. But in academia we have a small problem called ego, fame and hubris. There is money and prestige to be lost if you are shown to be wrong. As a chemist, I can tell you that most revolutions in science come from outsiders, not from the established experts.
