Monkey Steals Peach x The Ravenswood Academy Team Up
I heard there was a lot of eye gouging techniques in mantis. I’m curious to see a real fight without gloves where punches run the risk of breaking your hands and other hand strikes are involved.
WoW! Virtual AI Mantis kung fu. Empty hands - dead hands.
Hell yeah! Stepping into the ring and truly testing yourself and the method. My respect to you brutha!!!
Viva o LAI zongShi Dat Chung!
Very good stuff
I really admire your love and knowledge for this style.
As a Kung Fu practitioner I was raised fighting different styles. It’s awesome to see more Kung Fu practitioners testing their skills. Very awesome to see brother. Keep it up!!
Amazing!
Pretty cool. 👍🏻👍🏻
I dont see any mma. Mantis vs no ma
Goes to show any style is effective if you train and spar
This is insanely cool. As a Jiu Jitsu practitioner, I’m thoroughly impressed. I only wish there was an academy near me!
Wow! Nice work!

Kung fu works great, especially with no rules. As someone who's mma based, as it's helped me defend myself successfully in the streets a lot, i get shown kung fu from older generations, and i am always amazed and implement what i can, specifically snake to the eye balls, that works wonders.
This man really knows his MANTIS!👍
With the Dao! You see these techniques that you demonstrated in southern styles 😳Thanks, Sifu 😬
Thank you, very much 💕Sifu! Wonderful footage 🤗at UCLA, Cal. They restored a 1931 Chinese movie 🎥 I think it’s called “Red Banner” 🤔it’s about the exploits of Fang Shih Yuk 😬
I practice wing Chun daily, combining it with sum mantis.
This is real kungfu master even you are not Chinese. Many people claim use kungfu style but when real fight become no kungfu at all
Nothern & Southern Mantis executed in the correct way with knowledge & precision can serve up some lethal suprises!!!
The best explanation about this topic that i ever saw
not bad .... a little sloppy ... but well executed in a real combat situation
I love watching kung fu work effectively. Xingyi (Shen Long Tang Shou Tao) practitioner checking in. Great work, mate!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Some people just don't understand MMA. It is not one style but many, if mantis would be especially effective it would immediately get integrated.
I actually really like the mini backfist. It acts kinda like a short range jab. Not devastating but enough to set up other combos. The rest was meh... most of it was just happenstance stuff and basic boxing.
You're legit.. you're doing a great job.. as a fellow KF practitioner, i feel very proud❤
only kids compare MMA to martial arts. techniques in MMA are all originated from different martial arts.
omegalul, saving this!
Nombre de la canción NAME of the song ...mierda yo no hablar en Washington solo pasen el Name
Doing this awful style against a real fighter won't end well😂☠️
U have learned well, grasshoppa!
I did Northern Praying Mantis(Wah Lum) for 5 years. When watching it, the form look fancy with a lot of pretty techniques, but if the applications are taught correctly, it can be used very effectively for stand-up fighting. The "fancy" forms include eye jabs, neck strikes, kicks to the knee, and even groin grabs/strikes.
Finally a real person testing out other martial arts in a fight. Keep it up man, would love to see more styles being applied. The clipping with the old photos was a dope addition too!
Ele esteve em solo brasileiro e foi muito amado.
Great
Gung Fu is a way of life! So cool, great job! The Mantis fist is one to be reckoned with!
Amazing fight Shifu congratulations!
Why the real deal is so much better than MMA!
This is for Seven Star Mantis or Taiji Plum Mantis?
Awesome bro, awesome, i don't have more words, awesome
Молодец, правильно оттачивает навыки в спаринге👍
As a student of the martial art, Praying Mantis of the North, by Grandmaster Brendan Lai, I can say with extreme certainty that everything in this video is real, and was applied with precise force, so as not to lethally hurt the opponent. We have a True Martial Artist here ladies and gentlemen. Total respect for him.
YES the name of the technique (TCMA and TJMA) for that hand to waist means, “pulling hand.” It’s mixing grappling in with striking. But, ALSO considering that almost every occurrence of actual combat back in the days… knives and other hidden weapons, including throwing sand, chemicals, poisons, coins, shaved objects were involved. You constantly check that off-hand to stop them from reaching back to their waist after you’ve bridged the distance gap. Only modern art that I’ve seen practice this overtly nowadays is Eskrima / Kali unfortunately Forms always exaggerate and lose context over time, unfortunately.
Beautiful
there is a difference in locking down your arm down and all the way back, and pulling back your arm like in boxing. they do it in a different way.
What handset contains the righthand-grab left straight punch, lefthand-grab right hammer fist combination?
I’ll give you two interesting examples. Large Wheeling (大番車) and Plum Blossom Falls (梅花落) both have what you just described: only what makes them interesting as examples of this is that they add a groin kick during the first move (grabbing and punching)! Subsequently, the hammer fist flowing into the back fist (崩捶 劈捶) is itself from the the handset 插捶 (Cha Chui, or Charging Punches, Spear Hand, however you want to translate it). Good luck!
@theravenswoodacademy8796: Thank you for the reply! I don't know the "Large Wheeling" handset, and only bits of the "Plum Blossom Falls". The right Cross-kick left Thrusting palm into the horse stance right Hammer-fist strike in the last road of Charging Punches, is the closest example, mechanically, in my list of handsets.
@@hemispace641 that's great. I and others were definitely practicing the combination in the vid before we ever learned "Plum Blossom Falls" etc. Forms are fine but the skills are the main point. Enjoy drilling the combination.
Right on man. I love it when TMA practitioners pressure test their art. Way to go 👏
those moves exist, and are better taught, within western boxings "long guard". The photo clearly shows the hand should be at the hip during your movements.. why do you keep it high like a boxer?
The hand at the hip is for conditioning purposes. Your not actually supposed to fight like that.
