These are some hard working people! Creating a heavy duty scooter with nothing but a sharp machete and a few simple hand tools is very impressive. That machete has obviously become an extension of his arm over the years.
Pretty wild. I have lived in places similar to this. You have to be the type of person that can get by with anything. Your level of creativity will rise above the clouds, and it is easy to be happy with what you may have. Living in North America and having to become a slave to your job drains the joy out of life and having too many things is empty.

I have seen these in action. Transporting goods through major cities. Where traffic and trucks will take hours to drive 10km. Cement, diese, charcoal and anything you can imagine. I was amazed by the energy and efficiency.

Extremely well adapted low tech scooters. They transport as much as a small truck with zero fuel or electricity. It's 100% recycled materials and it probably costs less than 50€. You can't be more efficient, sustainable, green, etc, with modern technology.
The first couple of times I thought those springs on the wooden scooters were just for bling. A closer look main frame of those wooden scooters is actually sprung weight, to a vague degree a floating “axle”

funnily u could EASILY build an electric motor for uphill driving a motor from a Drill, Screwdriver, Saw or even washing mashine is more then enough to let u drive uphill with proper gearing. u can build pretty fast bicycles with those little engines. Most people use simple motorbike or car batteries to power those engines. or lithium batterys from phones put into a huge cluster. if u collect some batteries for a while, u could build that with ease. or if u harvest old motorbilke batteries.
