I've had some bad jobs in my life, installing insulation, duct work in the summer.. stuff like that. But, this takes the Cake! I know this is survival for them, probably doesn't pay much, they do it to support their family, and themselves. I will never complain about a job ever again. God Bless em
When I started doing HVAC as a helper back in 1998 there was this company that I worked for until 2005 and all the jobs were residential and when we put a split system in the attic they would have hang rectangle duct up there inside tiny attics also the connections were s slip on s slip no slip and drive it was a nightmare. Eventually my last few years they started to do the trunk line with round pipe.

Fascinating process pyrolysis , the only suggestion I would make is to use secondary combustion to reduce the smoke and reduce the wood consumption , you duct the smoke escaping back into the firebox where it would ignite with the incandescent firebrick , introducing steam into the hearth would also allow the water gas reaction and increase the clean combustion by creating hydrogen and carbon monoxide , you may get a blue ultraviolet gas flame instead of smoke, and reduced wood consumption and better efficiency ,
The thing about this process is , it's returning the oil to it's original form , yes it's a dirty process but it is what it is , if you improved the combustion and recycled the heat maybe by small scale generation it would be a fairly efficient process , the ash is grey so is fairly energy efficient , the remains are iron and oil , as you are starting with a waste product and sustainable wood , in terms of usefulness it's good, remember in the more developed countries we would automate this exact process and have basically no manual labour , in Pakistan it's not like that , this is labour allowing people to feed their families , it's quite inspiring really , same as we were a century ago ,
While i agree, such setup would need pretty major modifications to the burner with ductwork. Big question: how long would the investment take before it was paid back, as someone has to pay for it? Also, you would need two-part firebox (1st burns with clean air, smoke is ducted to 2nd firebox that burns with clean air + smoke) and the 2nd firebox will release some emissions. All of that to save some wood, which is good in theory but this doesn't look like a daily operation (lack of mountain of tires to act as buffer), perhaps a weekly operation. So the wood consumption overall is rather small considering the wasted energy.

Fascinating process pyrolysis , the only suggestion I would make is to use secondary combustion to reduce the smoke and reduce the wood consumption , you duct the smoke escaping back into the firebox where it would ignite with the incandescent firebrick , introducing steam into the hearth would also allow the water gas reaction and increase the clean combustion by creating hydrogen and carbon monoxide , you may get a blue ultraviolet gas flame instead of smoke, and reduced wood consumption and better efficiency ,

The thing about this process is , it's returning the oil to it's original form , yes it's a dirty process but it is what it is , if you improved the combustion and recycled the heat maybe by small scale generation it would be a fairly efficient process , the ash is grey so is fairly energy efficient , the remains are iron and oil , as you are starting with a waste product and sustainable wood , in terms of usefulness it's good, remember in the more developed countries we would automate this exact process and have basically no manual labour , in Pakistan it's not like that , this is labour allowing people to feed their families , it's quite inspiring really , same as we were a century ago ,
While i agree, such setup would need pretty major modifications to the burner with ductwork. Big question: how long would the investment take before it was paid back, as someone has to pay for it? Also, you would need two-part firebox (1st burns with clean air, smoke is ducted to 2nd firebox that burns with clean air + smoke) and the 2nd firebox will release some emissions. All of that to save some wood, which is good in theory but this doesn't look like a daily operation (lack of mountain of tires to act as buffer), perhaps a weekly operation. So the wood consumption overall is rather small considering the wasted energy.
That would take trouble and they simply don’t care. Not even a breeze from the look of the trees.
