Exactly dude ,and for personal experience, don’t EVER! Show John Mayer to your gf if you don’t think it’s gonna last ,my ex listens to him bc of me and she’s been to his concerts and stuff and I’m like “you’re lucky we live in a free world ,bc you don’t deserve to be listening to John Mayer” 😂
Thashil Ramdass he played back to Stevie Ray Vaughan bb king and clapton in his room as a 13 year old. His soulful solos are a result of him incorporating his own style with that of his heroes. Absolutely incredible
John Mayer writes the best love songs everrr. He has that emotion down to a real science. Absolutely owns it both instrumentally and in his lyrics. He’s so boss. I love it. Love him
Saw this in the documentary and fell in love instantly. I’M SO FUCKING GLAD TO FIND PEOPLE THAT THINK EXACTLY LIKE ME. I WISH I’D LIVE IN THIS COMENT SECTION.
Anyone who bashes his musical abilities would be silenced after watching this. Absolutely amazing performance. I got to see him two months before this show (in Dallas). Wow! That's all I can say.
I have seen a lot of John Mayer videos. This is his most emotional, passionate, and overall stunning performance on the guitar I have ever seen. Literally almost brought tears to my eyes. WHERE DID YOU GO JOHN?!?!
'Covered IN Rain' Live AGThursday, This 'Come Back to Bed', AND PBS .. Have Yet to Watch / Listen / Witness 'The Light ' ugh title escapes me - awakened with severe acid attack n this song played in my mind's ear whole time i felt ' death knock.knock.knocking on my Dior. TIME to get another round of colonoscopy coupled with endoscopy. ....
I’m late, but Walt grace’s submarine test is just another level emotionally. He never left this type of playing. Just experimenting with his life changes. So cool to see
Im playing guitar for a little bit over a year now, and I am starting to realize that learning this stuff by eyes and ears is so much better for learning! Watch closely at the close-up shots of his playing and try figuring out from there what he's doing when they are not showing his playing for a moment. It is starting to work for me (not everything :) ) and it will get you a lot further! happy playing!
Its been two years now since I saw this video and and its one of the most inspiring videos I have ever come across. His feel for the guitar, his love, his passion damnn son. I understood music for the first time that day and till now it continues to be part of my musical/guitar journey. This song will stay with me forever. Mr. Mayer all I have to say is that your legendary.
Sweet God Almighty that was awesome.. If he did bust at 7:11, it was rightfully so; what sick tones he just created.. wow. Such passion. Favorite guitarist and all around artist of all time.
Get some "Big Dipper" Pickups (a slightly modified version of Texas Special pickups). Then get yourself a bright and clean amp (don't need a two-rock) look for a Peavey Valve King, or a Fender Deluxe III will do the job just as well! Then depending how you want to sound overall, place the Bass on 7/8, Mid on either 4/5 (SRV) or 8/9 (Sounds Cool), and your Treble on 4/5 or 5/6 depending on how much high end you love! Play around with neck and neck/mid pick up selections too! :)
Fantastic comment, absolutely right my friend!! Best version of this song hands down. Hurry up and get better John, had to miss your show in Oklahoma in March. Was very sad, can't wait to hear the new stuff!
the perfect blues!..... love his music, he makes magic with that guitar..... he's one of the reasons i wanna move on life... his music and him.... my inspiration C:
Yea I'm not sure she meant like the actual notes in order, but the style and the tone is kinda present. Definitely foreshadowed what was to come; it was in him.
ALL of the things in my room Tell The Horror Story ~ just told My Therapist "I'm still living as though I have to Hide EVERYTHING from the Theives" hopefully I can get it behind me and Move Forward
It is the drums that give it the same vibe as Gravity. Very distinctive style to the beat and it is present in Gravity as well. You are right about the tone also, but I get it more from the synth organ and drums.
OMG. You're Bringing on The Rain Today. Reading your lyrics in search of still Life Pinterest board title and Came across A Brilliant unabashed look into the Real You -- Baby, You've Got SOUL .... .... IG Blues STILL Iz where I'll Try to write a poignant personal blues Tale -- it's Very Very Difficult to discuss such -- but Hey -- Lonely Hearts need someone to talk to too..
@Claymation99 a lot of it probably has to do with his switch to better amps, yes. He used to play just a fender head and cab. Pretty sure that's what he's using here too. He now pairs all three of his amps up live....His fender, Dumble, and Two-Rock. Plus he's had time to tweak it and set it how he likes now that he's matured.
Springender Punkt Both are amazing songs! But I'd still vote for Daughters, because the lyrics send a very important message. Daughters is the type of song that should be heard by more people, so the message is delivered.
this is the kind of music thats so good, you don't even wanna share with your friends.
damn you speaks my mind man
right
Exactly dude ,and for personal experience, don’t EVER! Show John Mayer to your gf if you don’t think it’s gonna last ,my ex listens to him bc of me and she’s been to his concerts and stuff and I’m like “you’re lucky we live in a free world ,bc you don’t deserve to be listening to John Mayer” 😂
Couldn’t be more accurate. Great comment.
He was da GOAT and da BEAST
John Mayer can't be human. his skills even early in his career is just mind-blowing
I can't imagine the amount of hours practicing while he was young. To have those skills you need to practice since teen!
Carlos Zapata G. What if after 20 you practice ?
Thashil Ramdass he played back to Stevie Ray Vaughan bb king and clapton in his room as a 13 year old. His soulful solos are a result of him incorporating his own style with that of his heroes. Absolutely incredible
He was built for this!
Listening to John Mayer play the guitar brings me closer to God.
John Mayer writes the best love songs everrr. He has that emotion down to a real science. Absolutely owns it both instrumentally and in his lyrics. He’s so boss. I love it. Love him
at 6:29 that's so soulful, sweetest part, best solo I've ever seen...
I know, I come back to it every time. I heard it in the documentary by Eastwood Allen and scoured the web 'til I found it.
what is the end time? I personally love 7:26 to 8:00 followed by the slow ending that resembles gravity

I need the tabs for this

+ben wade Not to mention this was like 2003 if I'm not mistaken
You lucky son of a bitch
I have seen a lot of John Mayer videos. This is his most emotional, passionate, and overall stunning performance on the guitar I have ever seen. Literally almost brought tears to my eyes. WHERE DID YOU GO JOHN?!?!
I agree, but that set of videos he did off of the Born and Raised record seriously touched me.
I'd take Covered in Rain Live in Birmingham over this but both are so emotional and passionate.
'Covered IN Rain' Live AGThursday, This 'Come Back to Bed', AND PBS .. Didn't go anywhere, if you listen carefully enough to his current stuff
I’m late, but Walt grace’s submarine test is just another level emotionally. He never left this type of playing. Just experimenting with his life changes. So cool to see
Johns voice has improved massively over the years. His guitar skillz have always been top notch. Love the solo on this
I always find myself coming back to this video. He really took this song to the next level in this performance
John Mayer: makes the best faces in this world.
Why does this not have more views
Those last two minutes from 8:00 are so passionate. That little smile at 8:38, pure bliss.
The level of crazy expressions he makes = The level of his passion flowing through his blood
His best performance of this song,. I've been coming back to this clip for over a decade. The passion, the feel, the control.
what the hell I've just seen...stunning..
Took the words right out of my mouth .... or I should say, your opinion a year later still holds true to this very day.
The moment the industry realized they had no control.
His discipline and parallel passion is insane.
You know that you are experiencing real magic when you get goosebumps and energy running up and down your spine. Beautiful playing.
7:05 that Stevie Ray Vaughan lick
his main influence
this is the sort of music that should be in the charts
Im playing guitar for a little bit over a year now, and I am starting to realize that learning this stuff by eyes and ears is so much better for learning! 3 people don't know magic when they see it - how has this video not been viewed more than this...guess I should count myself lucky!
One of the best solos ive ever seen.
It must be terrifying see at John's face when he's coming.
FUCK FUCK FUCKKKKKK

His guitar solo always blows me away.
Phenomenal stuff. This guy is the real deal.
not a whisper lol, I like how the crowd is all so quiet
Absolutly enamoured by the performance like they are lost in a trance
I come back to this video alot ...
Young John's phrasing was so raw and emotional
Fantastic guitar playing! That's Paul Hester (Crowded House) interviewing. R.I.P. Paul...
6:25-6:40 is amazing.

You can just tell how much fun he’s having playing this amazing song
Sweet God Almighty that was awesome.. If he did bust at 7:11, it was rightfully so; what sick tones he just created.. wow. Such passion. Favorite guitarist and all around artist of all time.

Such a precious silence.....
Listen to Paul Simons still crazy after all of these years and hear how John pulled parts from this solo and even gravity. Cool influence!
Bold As Love!!!!!! go John Mayer!!!!!!!!
I'm listening whilst bathing & pressed PAUSE @ 6:50 :
FULLY FAVORABLE ENCAPSULATION
Crazy how quiet it gets during the solo when the 60 cycle hum from bridge pickup goes away
I miss this John
7:58 has a gravity atmosphere to it, like the idea was trying to make its way out
Dillon great observation
you're right man
John had said multiple times that come back to bed was the prelude to gravity
@@Enarjay7891 yeah it went city love, come back to bed and then gravity and I love all 3 of those songs equally!
One day I'll be this good.
6:27 that eargasm is fucking intense!

I agree completely ..... this guy is just great
Loved the guitar solo, but man, I shit myself laughing at his faces. Classic Mayer.
I've seen a lot john videos. But i think this song (Come back to bed) is Amazing! Really good composition, damnn
Best version of Come Back to Bed
guitar solo starting at 3:57 WOW!

I use a SRV strat through a fender hot rod deluxe with tube screamer 08 and a steel string by vertex and it's practically like a Mayer tone
Nothing SWEETER than seeing you IN-THE-ZONE ie Your Zion ie Your Element . Did you Once envision Being One of the greatest wonders of the World ∆°✓
Fantastic comment, absolutely right my friend!! Best version of this song hands down. Hurry up and get better John, had to miss your show in Oklahoma in March. Was very sad, can't wait to hear the new stuff!
This is a great example of his style of blues
the perfect blues!..... love his music, he makes magic with that guitar..... he's one of the reasons i wanna move on life... his music and him.... my inspiration C:

I love how even the background singers have 'stank face' during that breakdown solo, 5:40
Can sure hear Stevie Ray influence.

The guitar faces, to me......are sexy as hell!!!
Yea I'm not sure she meant like the actual notes in order, but the style and the tone is kinda present. Definitely foreshadowed what was to come; it was in him.

Músico fantástico. Amo suas canções.

When you realize shredding isn't the only way to do it
I've been listening for this song for over 2 years now, and I just can't get sick of it... Just epic performance!
I feel thar JM first songs are the best.
My theory is that he is so freaking in love with himself and his playing that when he performs he's like, climaxing from his own awesomeness.
@Claymation99 a lot of it probably has to do with his switch to better amps, yes. He used to play just a fender head and cab. Pretty sure that's what he's using here too. this should be a hit, not daughters...
Springender Punkt Both are amazing songs! But I'd still vote for Daughters, because the lyrics send a very important message. Daughters is the type of song that should be heard by more people, so the message is delivered.
Eric Clapton says John Mayer is a master guitarist
that tone though
Sweet baby Jesus
The best one
