    so many of you asked questions about our home and i just uploaded part 1 of a home q&a video where we shared about the application process and answered questions about the process. we will subsequently be doing a part 2 to answer questions about the renovation and our finances. but for now, you can find part 1 here: th-cam.com/video/xRZpCGvS3cg/w-d-xo.html 😊

    What a humble down to earth little kingdom! Just the kind of family friend you will feel the comfort & at ease sitting in for tea with. Those who understand what truly matters will understand what truly matters. Love every bit of this walkthrough than some ATAS-corpo office style BTO with thousands of smart functions... Ever the thought of lower floors with the smell of soil crosses your mind? 😂

    One of the best home tours i have seen - honest, raw and comprehensive 👍i like the fact that it is not staged to make it look perfect. I appreciate the fact that you leave the lightings of each section of the apartment, and the messy wiring behind your TV as they are. Good work there 👍👍 oh and btw your apartment is beautiful 😊

    Thank you for sharing how your beautiful home looks like. I like the realization that you have come to ; what’s most important is that your home works for you, and not how it compares against others’. I am also impressed that your 2-door wardrobe is large enough - you two must be minimalists!

Indeed true what we see online are often the polished version. It is so easy to envy and get swayed by the pretty things we see and start to compare. Thank you for sharing!! It gives a much better perspective on space and size compared to pictures that interior designers post, those always seem distorted to make the space seem bigger. Is there a reason why you didn't install a ceiling fan in any of the rooms?

    • @hillaryarieltan
      @hillaryarieltan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      no problem, so glad to hear that it was helpful for you! ☺️ yes i think interior designers tend to use more wide angle to kinda squeeze the entire space in one photo, so it tends to be a little less accurate of the actual space. about the ceiling fan, it’s because i’m rather tall HAHA so if i raise my hands, i think i will hit the ceiling fan. got a bit of phobia so we decided to just use standing fans 😂

    Beautiful home :) If you don't mind sharing, what is the distance between your block and the opposite block that your windows are facing? My upcoming BTO is pretty badly blocked (25m away, we sacrificed view for a better floor plan) and I'm trying to get a sense for how it might feel. Thanks for your help!

    • @hillaryarieltan
      @hillaryarieltan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hello, thank you! hmm i’m not too sure of the exact distance but it is pretty close HAHA. but i think it doesn’t bother us that much.... you can consider installing mesh curtains on top of the usual curtains that you can use in the day time to get some privacy. it’s enough to block out the view from opposite units. hope this helps!

    Do you have trouble with smell from cooking since your kitchen is open concept? My concern with open concept kitchen is though it looks more spacious, the smell from food can get to the living room and get absorbed by furniture. Apologies if you've already answered this elsewhere!
    Also, how much did the kitchen cabinets cost?

    • @hillaryarieltan
      @hillaryarieltan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      we do sometimes get problems with the smell and smoke, especially if we are cooking sth oily like steak. but we just turn on the fans to let our house air haha and we regret not getting a hood!

    may I know what brand is your induction cooker? and how much is it? would u recommend?

    • @hillaryarieltan
      @hillaryarieltan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it’s a bosch 2 hob induction cooker and cost us $1k! i think it is decent for an induction cooker. we usually cook very simply but regularly and it has been good for us thus far. personal experience when i went to mega discount store to buy it is that you can share about some of your needs + considerations for certain appliances with the staff there and they are able to recommend you. the sales staff there aren’t tied to any particular brands so it seems to me that they’re pretty objective about their recommendations :) hope this helps!

    When I visited turkey , I fell in love with their homes . It's something that Singapore homes lack - the sense of comfort and ease.

    On the security level, if there is a fire how do you do it was planned, Because living in a tower like a Tower of London I don't know if the security is good

    • @hillaryarieltan
      @hillaryarieltan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes that’s true, i think only more recently, the new flats come with a fire alarm system of sorts. so if there is a fire, it will ring and your neighbours can call for the firefighters. thankfully our firefighters respond very very quickly! :)

    Hi Hillary, you seem to be dissatisfied with the size of the BTO flat, did u previously stay in a big older flat? Spaciousness is key criteria for me and im very hesitant to go with a BTO.

    • @hillaryarieltan
      @hillaryarieltan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi anthony! hahaha oops i must have repeated “very small” too many times in the video 😂 i think it definitely was a struggle to adapt because i used to stay in an older HDB with my parents. after some time, i’ve gotten used to it but if given a choice, i would much prefer a flat that’s more similar to the older HDB lay out and size. but due to cost, a bto is the best we could get!
