Yes, I grew up on the Willamette Valley ofOregon. living in Texas now and I really, really miss the trees. Not mention the rainy weather-I love your rain sound effects!
I love Oregon so much. Such a beautiful state to grow up in. Texas! Wildly different weather and nature! I can imagine you miss the trees. Do you get beautiful sunsets and wide open landscape there? I’ve never been to Texas. I’m glad you like the rainy background. I love rain so much, so I’m happy to add it to each video.
Haha California summers can be hot that's for sure, especially depending on where you are. What a beautiful state to move too, though. Washington is probably my favorite state in the US, but then again, I'm a bit biased to the west coast in general because of so many trees! ;)
Love , love, love your trees and misty look. I live in Oregon and this looks a lot like our hills and trees in winter with the fog. Been wanting to paint this in watercolor, so thank you so much for this tutorial!
I deeply appreciate the magical atmosphere that arises from the harmonious fusion of pine trees and mist. It is simultaneously engaging, serene, and mysterious. Thanks a lot for sharing!
I paint fog and mountains too, but yours are stunning!! I love the way you speak calmly, and you don’t waste time talking about unnecessary things. Let’s just paint! Thank you!
Thank you so much and you’re very welcome! Fog and mountains are the best! 🌲🤍 I appreciate you leaving me some feedback, but sometimes I do talk about random things haha. But I’m trying to get better at creativity a good experience for viewers
Hi - I am from the Pacific Northwest - Vancouver Island to be exact. Don't we live in the most beautiful part of the world? and this is lovely - soft yet clear!!
Encore merci 🙏😍
There is certainly a level of learning paint to water balance, and even then it has a mind of its own. I think the key is letting go and being happy with "happy little accidents" .
Brilliant idea to use the two facing pages of the sketchbook to document your color and technique choices. It solves my problem of "How did I do that before?" Your tutorials are relaxing but ever so informative. Thank you for all of the effort you put into them.
All the evergreen trees are just spectacular. I can’t seem to stop painting trees. Thank you for watching and leaving me a comment. I appreciate it. And Oregon is such a special state; I adore it. 🤍🌲
I LOVE the trees in Pacific Northwest! I lived all over during my 32 years in the Army and now live in beautiful Oregon and I adore the Giant Ponderosa Pine here… great work!
It’s a quick and easy way to darken it if you’re after the tone. I’m a bit of a lazy color mixing artists, so I go for easy and what looks nice to my eye.
Oh no, you hate painting mist? Maybe I can change your mind ;) Haha. I understand though if it's something that doesn't call to you. But, I appreciate you enjoying the trees.
I like the way you used both sides of your sketchbook...to practise the trees (or whatever) on the left, and also show the colors and combinations you used in the final painting (details I would forget if not recorded!), and also using artist's tape to remove and "frame" your painting ! Thank you so much! Will be attending more of your sessions! I learned a lot!
Each video has something different as I am exploring video filming and editing. Thank you for the feedback and that’s something to keep in mind for future videos. 😄🌲🤍 but I do love this idea for sketchbooks specifically. Great way to take notes.
Love your tutorials ! I moved to the PNW 50 yrs ago....still in love with fir trees in all seasons. In winter they're green, if it snows they're magical ( we don't get alot in W Wa), in the fall they provide a background for autumn colors.
I love the background noise, sounds like rain. Love watching your videos, beautiful work! I was raised in Olympia Washington, have been painting and drawing PNW trees and scenes my whole life💗
The PNW is just such a beautiful area. The west coast in general is. So much inspiration, whether that’s from California all the way to Canada. Love it. :)
I am from the NW, lived in the hills below Crystal Mountain, and love the trees. you are great with them , I have done several like this...for Christmas cards. Lovely.
You are a wonderful teacher, sharing so much with us in such a laid-back way! Great tips and encouragement and most of all, absolutely stunning artwork! Thank you so much for everything! You’re amazing!
Thank you so much for watching and leaving me a comment, Corinne. I’ll have to keep that in mind for future videos, because I tend to change it up for each tutorial. But I agree! 🤍🌲
How nice and relaxing your video is! I tried painting along, and because I'm getting into painting after a long gap, this project actually helped me to ease out! Your dreamy landscape is easy to follow and can encourage anyone to restart their painting hobby in case they took a long break like me! Thanks so much!
Heat your tape with a blow dryer before removing it. Especially where you have the clip. And it will be less likely to tear. I love sketchbooks. It's easy to store and transport. Love your style.
Oh yes, that's a great tip! I'll have to remember to do that next time, thank you! Do you have a favorite brand os sketchbook? I just picked up a Bee Paper one and testing it out. Thanks, David!
I do love your art work and the ways you show how to paint different scenes. I appreciate your videos with the sound off so I can attune to the painting techniques.
Thank you very much! I'm going do a poll for the background noise. I've had so many people love and prefer the sounds, but the last couple weeks I've had requests for just voiceover. I know these older videos the sounds may have been too loud. I'm not sure. I want everyone to have an enjoyable learning experience. Thank you for the feedback.
What a beautiful painting Absolutely gorgeously Misty. Ps I’m deaf so heard nothing but that did not detract from my absolute enjoyment in watching you paint your trees. Thank you Vonnie x
Thank you for sharing, Vonnie! 🤍 were you able to get the subtitles on, though? I’m happy the visual demonstration was satisfying. I appreciate you watching and spending time with me on here. 🌲
Thank you, I love trees and I love your style, no screaming and loud agressive music during the video, really appreciate the calm peaceful style. I'd like to see a rather still river or pond with mist if you want to paint that sometime.
Thank you for the kind feedback, and I'm so glad you're enjoying the ambiance. I love that as well when watching videos. I was just thinking about filming a still body of water with mist. Stay tuned for that one :)
You have a wonderful ASMR kind of teaching voice, and your process seems really straight forward and easy to follow. Digital art is the closest thing I have to a "jam" medium, so I may try following this video while painting along using Rebelle.
Thank you so much for the kind comment and for sharing. I LOVE digital art. Not something I always do, but I love it. I haven’t explored Rebelle, but have used Procreate. Do you have a specific subject you paint digitally?
Gorgeous! I'm gonna have to try this! Also, if you pull the tape off at a 90° angle away from your sketchbook (make an L) it won't rip the paper. It took me a couple of decades to learn that one! 😉
Thank you for sharing. FYI, not sure the deerfoot using is synthetic, as mentioned. Looks like Princeton Series 3750 Select Artiste Deerfoot Stippler, which is combination of Natural/Synthetic Hair. If another, would appreciate letting know. They do have a synthetic sable in the Mini Detailer 3050 series, although not as many stores stock where I am.
I love the sound of rain in the background. Very soothing!
Thank you!

We moved from California to the PNW a few years ago. I do not miss the hot summers of CA and I love the trees in WA.
Haha California summers can be hot that's for sure, especially depending on where you are.
What a beautiful state to move too, though. Washington is probably my favorite state in the US, but then again, I'm a bit biased to the west coast in general because of so many trees! ;)

There is certainly a level of learning paint to water balance, and even then it has a mind of its own. I think the key is letting go and being happy with "happy little accidents" .

Right?! Couldn't agree more. I need to do that more often... this was a random thing I did for this video.
Thank you for leaving me a comment. :)
WOW! Thank you, Jackie.
You are so welcome!
Soooooo beautiful. Love the rain sound effects. Now all you need is a fog machine to waft mist all around when the video is finishing.......LOL
Omg that would be amazing! 🌫️
Very beautiful
Appreciated. Thank you.
too much talent - such technique!
Thank you :)
Beautiful. I live in Oregon and we have pine, spruce, cedar and other trees like this. Thanks for speaking at a nice relaxing volume. ❤

Somehow my paint brush wouldn’t jump around like yours.😊 But I might try.😮
I have a light touch when painting trees.
Beautiful!
Thank you!

Also, if you pull the tape off at a 90° angle away from your sketchbook (make an L) it won't rip the paper. It took me a couple of decades to learn that one! 😉
That's a great idea! Thank you for sharing that tip!
Hope you have a great painting experience!
Really nice 👍
Many thanks! 🌲
Wow 🤩 AMAZING
Love it. I am in far north Idaho. A forest gal as well.
I’ve never been to Idaho before, but I’ve heard there’s some beautiful landscape there. 🤍🌲
대단해요❤
The background sound ❤very cozy, is it rain 🌧️or snow ❄️?
Love that you felt it was cozy as that’s what I was going for. And I had some rain sounds in the background :)
Amazing capture ❤
Thank you for watching. I appreciate that :)
I live in the coastal range in the Great Northwest...Oregon.
The Oregon coast is pure magic and I love it so much whenever I get a chance to visit.
