All us kids back in 1977-1983 couldn't wait to go out and get all the new action figures, vehicles, playsets, etc to relive the films and create our own adventures. How's the current merchandise sales going??

You don't know what the hell you are talking about. You don't know anything about Lucas or his politics.
Star Wars with the OT and other content like the Thrawn Trilogy, Bane Trilogy, X-Wing Series, NJO series, YJK series, Hand of Thrawn Trilogy, and much of the EU was (in my opinion) the greatest fantasy universe ever to exist. There were some duds like the Callista Trilogy and some contentious stuff like Dark Empire but those could be ignored.
The prequels had some issues but still mostly held true to the lore. I could get past those large issues.
2005 was "peak Star Wars." The 1990s was a great time for Star Wars.
Later EU stuff (2005 to 2013) went off the deep end (with a couple exceptions) and then Disney (with very few exceptions like Rogue One) fell into the Mariana Trench. The prequels did bring in some glaring lore issues that led to logical problems that warped later content, but Disney has just taken everything and ran it into a brick wall.
Star Wars is dead in that too few care about new content in the existing canon universe to sustain anything. The only stuff anyone cares about now is the now inactive past canon universe. Star Wars is like reminiscing about a dead person.

I haven't see anybody point out that the stun gun works however the story needs it to work. Osha shoots Mae with it, she gets back up in less than 2 minutes, fully recovered. Sol gets shot with it, he wakes up the next day, groggy.

The whole story of this show is nonsense. I don't understand why anyone is watching it. I just saw this show pop up and decided fuck that. Instead I started watching a different show called "The Warrior". Set in the old west it's about a Kung Fu master who travels to San Francisco in search of his long lost sister and becomes embroiled in the various factions vying for control over China Town. I'm now going to be campaigning for everyone to watch and talk about that show instead.
Sol is a white Asian man and MAE is a strong black woman that's why the stun gun doesn't affect her at all, God they're so racist.
Inconsistencies are the biggest tell of a bad story (and storyteller). Disregarding the established way things work in universe -- such as time, the placement or use of objects in the environment, powers/abilities of individuals, etc. -- shows a lack of skill and/or care.
It's very likely some 'Dunning-Kruger' talking, but even with me not being a writer (especially a professional one), I firmly believe I could do better than 85%-90% of the Hackolyte.
I've always wanted to write a light saber battle. The sumbitch would be the most realistic one ever seen.
It's because he is but a man with a fragile ego and she's a strong independent waman.
I have watched zero Acolyte minutes on Disney Plus but a couple hours of reviews making fun of it. I have my priorities straight.
My husband asked me why I was only watching reviews of this show last night and not the show itself. I showed him the clip of the lightsabres being headbutted and he just said "ah, got it"

I think, piecing it together, to surrender to the Jedi by infultrating the Jedi as a sister that is so important and treasured it was worth betraying her Sith Lord, that she was left with two possible fates, death by abandonment on an alien planet while unarmed, or whatever her former Sith Lord decides to do to her.
Remember that time an obscure, B-list, space movie with an $11m budget was released (in 1977) and it was SO GOOD that it earned $775m globally, created a global mania, and spawned 11 sequel movies? And then fans bought all of the hundreds of books and comics, flushing out the backstory of even the most obscure characters, and shelled out billions in collectible figures and items?
How WILLFULLY IGNORANT and selfish would you have to be to transform "that" ...into something that "YOU prefer" but those same loyal, adoring fans would give a score of 14% because they Hate it so much? I'm over 65, I write novels, you know...books. Whoever "wrote" this gobbledygook of a mess is no writer...or understands the basics of plot, or even appears to be educated. Such is the state of Disney.
They don't even know how fire or gravity works.
To be fair, screenwriting is a much different craft than writing books. Not only does pacing need to be different, but screenwriting is almost always changed on the fly. Dialogue and story elements change if if an actors schedule falls through, locations don't work out, or even when a petty producer doesn't like the sound of line. Book writers aren't bogged down by any of that stuff and comes with it's own different challenges.
That being said... Acolyte is still shit screenwriting 😅

I sure miss the days when the force was wielded by like five people and it was only used to accomplish small tasks that led to significant outcomes. Obi Wan convincing the guards to let them through, Luke switching off his targeting computer and using the force to know when to fire, Leah sensing that Luke was still alive and returning to rescue him. These days it's used to pull down entire starships and get people pregnant 🙁

It's given a full body shot, with a long leadup and they hold on her for an equally extended period of time, accompanied by a huge swell from the musical score. I mean what's with the powerful orchestra and choir here? Did she just climb a mountain or something? Go ahead and tell me Star Wars isn't a girl brand now. I dare anyone to try and argue against all the evidence how this is a story written by women, for women, in a genre that women on average at the group level don't enjoy watching.

The helmet is made of cortosis which can temporarily short out lightsabers but it is very fragile, hence why it broke when hit

People keep equating the Jedi with police. Police, Detectives and MP's exist in Star Wars.
Jedi are investigators/special forces, in the beginning they only investigated force based disturbances and frequently delt with life and death on planet scale levels.
The Jedi are meant to remain centered and make rational decisions regarding death and killing, think peaceful but not pacifist. When the situation calls for it (genocide level threat) the Jedi have destroyed entire planets. More like a mix of MI6, MKG and CIA than police. Rules but have the flexibility to adapt to the threat.

This is basically the Witcher blood origin series equivalent in Star Wars form. The series takes far in the past to rewrite the main story, the people behind the series aren’t trapped by the main story so they have almost free reign to write what they want and just take bits of piece of lore to make it so. This is the story wars story they would really want to tell.

I really wish we'd have gotten Darth Jar Jar just for the way that would have affected other stories so we were always on edge as though anyone could be a sith when the shtf and nobody knows who's behind it.
I'd love a story about a Miyamoto Mushashi lone warrior type jedi that is so hypervigilant to the point of apparent paranoia due to him just being in duel mode 24/7 from being on the front lines since he was a kid. Everyone wants him to step back and take care of himself cuz they secretly think he may be the sith and they view him as unstable so he has to go all Jack Bauer (but likewise not kill jedi) when they ramp up their pressure on him as sh*t starts to go down and vindicate himself while exposing the real threat from inside the order (make a splinter order of evil jedi that are basically the World Economic Forum but in Star Wars ruled by hidden sith that pretend they have moral high ground and everyone's best interests and "the greater good" at heart when what they really want is authoritarian control and they'll do anything to achieve it no matter how unethical and immoral).
I could write the f*ck outta something like that.
Cast Hiroyuki Sanada as a stoic old vet that is super "tough love" and guarded around padawans cuz he knows deep down they are warriors not peacekeepers and he's sick of the pussification of the order and wants them to be aware of the dark side and capable of handling the evil that he knows could befall them. They all hate him and want to take the easy way out or coast but the redemption arc is his teachings make them able to defend themselves, figure things out and help him in the finale so they repent and thank him wishing they could have seen it before having to live it so they could prepare better. Think professor Snape in Harry potter but way more intense.
Play him right up too so he seems all toxic masculine and quick to aggression and violence (but give him good internal logic so that's just the spin the enemy tries to paint him as). Have him profess that it's not dark side if your passion is controlled and put to use to give you power and strength to do genuine good. That's how you properly subvert expectations.
Make him very "aesthetic monk warrior" with bare minimum robes, a plain lightsaber hilt not unlike a samurai sword in shirisaya, an old feudal japanese topknot and covered in scars with a missing eye like Jubei Kibigami/Yagyu. Make him a crazy infighter that is super proficient in his force sensing abilities so he often fights with his good eye closed cuz "the eye often deceives" reminiscent of Zatoichi the blind swordsman. Have him just be a gigachad warrior that all the other jedi are scared of and secretly kind of jealous of because of his experience and proficiency.
Just an amalgam of all the great japanese warriors of legend and demonize and other the f*ck out of him so his friends all become his enemies but he is in reality so centered and balanced it doesn't faze him when all others would have had their world completely shattered.
Star Wars needs a "man getting sh*t done against all odds and endless effeminate BS soy waffling" story. Can't happen with the current regime but that's what this show could have been had it had decent writers.
Ooh make him super direct and make it rated r too so he just smashes through ppls guards lopping off heads and limbs and immediately mercy killing ppl when he has compromized their bodily integrity like he doesn't give a f*ck about being "fair" or "proper". Killing is killing after all and Star Wars is way too "nice" about it these days.
Also have him subvert tropes like people clashing sabers endlessly so any time anyone tries to block him he just rolls over, through and around them with ease (base it on the principles of "The Dynamic Sphere" of Aikido so he fights like no other jedi and detests the various lighsaber fighting forms which they see as tantamount to blasphemy).
Make him always cognizant of controlling ground so any time he's in close quarters with ppl even his friends and peers he is moving towards doorways and had his back to walls trying to create distance and hand never not on his weapon sleeping and bathing with it by his side like Ogami Itto of Lone Wolf and Cub.
Have him calmly quote reworked Art of War and the Book of Five Rings quotes constantly to explain himself when ppl are visibly disturbed by his apparent "sketchiness" and he just ignores their arguments because "the only thing you have true control over in life is yourself and i chose to not let others control me in any way, shape or form whether they realize they are doing so or not as far as combat is concerned." Then when ppl argue with him like "You think we are in combat right now?! I am your friend are we not just talking?" and he says something to the effect of "You have chosen to be offended and argue with me over my base beliefs and general approach to life and death, is that not a form of combat?" Or something along those lines. Just have it so he rubs everyone the wrong way cuz his way of thinking and MO is so foreign and they all want to force their weak and flawed emotionally hypersensitive culture onto him whether they realize it or not while only playing at being stoic and unnattached.
Have Yoda and his own padawan be the only ones that truly get and appreciate him that he ever rarely lets his guard down against as a sign of respect and anyone who takes notice sees it as a personal slight as though they are inferior and/or lack character.
Damn the possibilities are truly endless with a character like that...

Yes, they weren't obscured enough, and the exposition before and after was really lame! The new lightsaber battles are much better now, 25% more dialogue, 50% less choreography! The slow walk to the battle site really sets it apart from anything that came before!!!
