Love Dawn's talents. I also so appreciate her enlightening us as to the inner workings of those greedy, illegal practices of record companies. The Supremes were treated no differently. With today's tech, and today's still new media in TH-cam and Snapchat, Twitter etc. It's way easier to be independent. Lots of work because of lack of experience , but there's more and more people to use for example. The industry doesn't have the same power over artists that way, but... they still control the charts, the awards, they'll rig what they want. Which will affect sales and exposure, but if people keep exposing that, it can be powerful. Sad how many stars were used up because they were trusting, and excited to be living their dream, and, as producers, it's awful to do that, but I don't take it as a character flaw beyond anyone else's, if I develop a lucrative product, I'm gonna play MY hand, not theirs. Good that you were wise enough to not get trapped. It's a monster...I loved Chappelle's story about it.
That is so true about Supremes. Mary Wilson wrote in her book that she thought that when signed contracts they were to split 3% of earnings so each Supreme get 3% earnings. Mary learned that they had to split 3% among together which is a huge difference. Florence Ballard offered a one time settlement and yet she passed away broke and on welfare. It’s no way Florence should have died broke after singing with the biggest female group and sang on ten number one records.

I understand Dawn's beef from 25 yrs ago when they were getn robbed, but eventually, even for entertainers, ur group members become your coworkers, just like everyone working a 9-5. Eventually, after yrs of none, u gotta clock in and get ur performer check that is waaay bigger than the 9-5 check! Call me! I will do a dope 2 step and lip sync Dawn's part!
I don’t see Dawn begging for anything. Moreoverly, it would be different if it was just her but Maxine as well is not in agreement with how the business is being handled in the group. Dawn is vocal she’s a fire sign so she’s telling us what happens every time she goes back. Rufftown deal was the worst. Ijs

@LaLa Loves Red Velvet Cake!! But for the last _teen years when ppl have gone to an en vogue show, it's rhona out there singing live and 2 stepping. Not Dawn. So asking her to take a leave of absence from her job every time a lucrative chance to reunite comes along, is as crazy as asking the lady who clocks in at walmart everyday to take a leave while they're paying $20/hr, and to come back when they go back to paying $9/hr. This isn't a 1 off show like the Alicia Keys thing, this is about a whole tour - an artist's bread and butter. Rhona's job is en vogue, not Dawn's!
@LaLa Loves Red Velvet Cake!! 100%. But if you quit your job, u don't get to keep telling the lady who filled the position to clock out every time you wana clock in. It's one thing for her to take the night off for a specific engagement, but not an entire lucrative tour.
@LaLa Loves Red Velvet Cake!! And again, a 37th anniversary tour isn't as lucrative as a 30th! Dawn maam, you don't work here anymore! I do! And I'm not about to sit at home so you can come get my check!
@LaLa Loves Red Velvet Cake!! Do u have a personal grudge against Rhona? Because insulting her to lift Dawn is unnecessary, especially considering (at least according to your thumb pic) you are a whole black woman. Why ur tearing 1 down for 0 purpose is beyond me... But, that's not how the industry works. They have reunited more than once, and Dawn has walked, more than once. Hell, I'd love for them to be the original 4 like any other fan, but what I'm not ok with is telling the person who has been in the trenches on those non-sold out nights in Milwaukee and Jackson, for the last xteen years, to step aside because others want to capitalize on a lucrative check. If, and when, things allow for tours again, just go tour and split the check amongst 5 ppl.
Hard to be loyal to something or someone you don't have at least some love for, and if someone can't be loyal, I don't want their love. Seeing it that way, if my loyalty is contingent on their every decision, then so is my love. And that isn't love, it's control. I gotta know that those I love are worthy of trust, I'm not always right. Facts change all the time. There's only one Truth. None of us are strong enough to live in it all the time.
Good Morning. Many artists had signed bad deals. I read an interview with Dawn in 2002 and she revealed that she and the original members of En Vogue were signed to a management deal with their producers who got most of the money from writing, producing and the group's touring dates. After they had to pay them they had to pay their musicians, stylists and record company for putting up money for videos and they had to split the rest 4 ways.
I love Dawn but I’m going to have to discredit her analogy about the Mickey Mouse House Reunion. Reunions usually feature those that were involved in that particular project so of course envogue wouldn’t be invited to it. If y’all joined that show in the last season of that show then y’all could have been invited. Better example is the Fresh Prince Reunion. 2nd Aunt Viv was there. She came in half way through and most people prefer the original Aunt Viv Janet Hubert. It was room for both to coexist and honor the ENTIRE 30th year anniversary and the legacy of the show.
I know everyone has there own story & truth....but this is some Cold Blooded shit! Dawn is a bad ass, Beatiful performer, Singer, Actress, etc...Jealousy is a killer n if that's what all this Break up is about, that some sad immature shit! The Money issues is something I know I would speak up about! You will not mess with my bag! How sad the truth is!!
They as a group should have never settle for 2 cent a album from the beginning per person that was totally insane they was robbed clean, they should have all got together and said no way because the record company can't do nothing with out them, what a shame they did all the work and got paid nothing and the record company got all the money SMH.
@Alien Brown Since the years they blew up they should have signed a new deal not stay with 2 cents a record that is a insult , they was used they didn't stick together.
Miss dawn certainly has a lo t to be angry about but she sort of contradicts herself when she preached about the corruption and self serving interests of the music business, yet she was unwilling to bend to allow the new girl to celebrate her contributions to the group.. anyone who participates in a group has the eight to venerate the entire history. remember the temptations induction into the Rock and roll hall o f Fame. they were all jumping up at the stage and practically about to throw down. yes Miss dawn is preaching just how cut throat that business is. take no prisoners or risk losing your own life. or maybe worse your soul or reason for being alive.

Why groups leave millions of dollars on the table, because they cannot get along. SMH! What could have been if only they could have resolved their differences!
Tell me how she was wronged by the group please
They are killing me running thru girl groups and not acknowledging Xscape, considering they were the only other group at the same time giving 4 lead singers and 4 part harmonies!
I never did get into Xscape. They were just always meh to me.
@@valentinomiller6251 That's fine. They were overlooked by a lot of ppl because they weren't the typical 4 'pretty' girls who women and queens wanted to be. But it was just crazy that they were naming all of these 1 hit wonder groups, when xscape was the only big group that had anything in common w en vogue.
They did mention Kandi..
Xscape was nice but not on En Vogues levels
@@ronwright3242 No they weren't but based on makeup of 4 singers who all sang leads and gave you 4 part harmony, and even tried to give a lil choreography, no one else who saw any major success came any closer than xscape. Like I said in another comment, xscape is slept on because they weren't the 4 prim n proper, petite girls who women and gays aspired to be.
Love Dawn! Even though she is coughing through the interview talking about covid. It's all good.
😆
i guess if they release o r produce an Anthology album , they might get the chance or blessing to write new songs, that project might be called "VOICES FROM OUR QUEENDOM"
And pls don't think I'm anti-Dawn. I'd love for her to just get the check and give us that harnony we love. But, BUT, I also believe where there's smoke, there's fire, and if I were Dawn, who has a rep of being difficult, while my claim to fame is on a 30 YEAR ANNIVERSARY, I'd be trying to get the coins that I was due way back when, NOW!
Same here. I have the solo record and the Lucy Pearl album. Love Dawn but I would just do the tour and let that be that. They are making money off songs you sung lead on, might as well get your piece of the pie. I will say however, she can’t be too wrong because Maxine isn’t back either.
Same here. I think Dawn misses or ruins opportunities to repair their relationships and bank accounts. I'm not anti-Dawn either by a long shot. I love envogue.
All these folks say she’s the problem but if half your group is in agreement that the business is not right then there is a problem. Dawn is vocal she’s a fire sign so she’s telling us what happens every time she goes back. Rufftown deal was the worst. Ijs
Also when you reunite you come to terms as a group to mend fences and to do as you say get the bag. But Are not group members because they left and they are work for hire. And until they as a whole value each other and their contributions as founding members then we won’t get a reunion. I respect your point
@@Atlantisboi77 No, I get it 100%. That's why I said I agree w her original beef. My thing is, when it comes down to it, especially this many years later, are you in or out. And idk how she earns her money, but around the time of Hollywood divas, it didn't seem like she was exactly rolling in it. I can't imagine that doing shows w YOUR COWORKERS isn't a more lucrative and enjoyable way to a dollar than ______.
I agree. Except the part with u lip synching 😅
@@ceeceetracey9839 ijs! Go to work. The ppl want original En Vogue, so original En Vogue needs to understand that they clock in and out for thousands of dollars as a collective. You're allowed to hate the lady from 3 cubicles down!
That's not true the Jones girls sounded exactly like the emotions but I love them both
The COVID-19 mortality rates aren't conflated! I'll listen to a frontline clinician and families that have lost loved ones before Dawn! She can sing but she needs to get real about THAT!
Dawn should get an attorney and try to get their masters back
Mary rose up after a bad deal with Diddy... because she stayed humble and trusted God.... Terry Cindy and Rhona are making a great living.....touring with an awesome show.... Godliness with contentment is a great gain....Peace and gratitude will take you a long way...
Have a seat with that rubbish
@@valentinomiller6251 .... how are you today?
Saw them in Oakland as a Trio 😫😒
Rolling on the River .. They performed.
Nah bruh, Rhona has been there longer than Dawn was there, so for her to keep missing the big anniversary dates ANDTHE ACCOMPANYING CHECKS, is not gonna work, sis! It's 30 damn yrs OF THE NAME! If Rhona came on yr 7...no one jumps thru hoops for 37th anniversaries! 5 ppl or bust!
@LaLa Loves Red Velvet Cake!! thank you for giving Michelle her props.
As a fan of hers, it saddens me to hear her talk about being against the vaccine. Makes me rethink my loyalties...
Makes me love her even more. So now what
Hard to be loyal to something or someone you don't have at least some love for, and if someone can't be loyal, I don't want their love. Seeing it that way, if my loyalty is contingent on their every decision, then so is my love. And that isn't love, it's control. I gotta know that those I love are worthy of trust, I'm not always right. Facts change all the time. There's only one Truth. None of us are strong enough to live in it all the time.
Dorian Heyward is The Cat she's talking about
I find it very difficult to understand why these singers ar losing there houses and some are even ending up on welfare.. allegedly
@@MUSICENCYLOPEDIA this is true. Still there are royalties coming I’m sure. To this day ! I believe I’ve used the correct word’ ! 🤔😕😐
So, Cindy and Terry actually AGREED to go and talk to an attorney⁉⁉😮
Ev3 timestamp?
54:21
3:50 . Ha they met like the 5 deadly venoms :)
Rocket! she said it wasn't a hit doe lol
It wasn't
I like the song though
Terry album Flopped 💯
Yes it did and that is the reason the record label pulled the plug on Dawn's solo album..
We should learn from the Spice Girls ... They stick together and made MILLIONS
They as a group should have never settle for 2 cent a album from the beginning per person that was totally insane they was robbed clean, they should have all got together and said no way because the record company can't do nothing with out them, what a shame they did all the work and got paid nothing and the record company got all the money SMH.
Do you really believe they were getting 2¢ an album?
@@keepsit100atalltime9 Yes
@@RANDY4410 🤦🏿♀️
@Alien Brown Since the years they blew up they should have signed a new deal not stay with 2 cents a record that is a insult , they was used they didn't stick together.
Clearly you're gullible. 🤦🏾♂️
I said low-key because she tries to clean it up after the shade she gives lol
Dawn was EnVogue it's no EnVogue without Dawn.
>>👑
Dawn is broke.
En Vogue continue to tour internationally and across the US.
Without En Vogue - Dawn is just a memory.
Y’all forgot about Xscape!
Is the lights 💡 too bright for her?! 😕😐
