    Great video! Quick question though. How come this video shows the laptop having a fingerprint reader but the link in description takes me to an HP 14 without fingerprint?!

      Hey, great question. There are multiple variants of this laptop, based on your region and the retailer configurations around display, ports and bio metrics can unfortunately vary.

    I disagree when it comes to gaming it depends on the type of Gaming emulation runs great my current daily driver is an HP 15 with a 5300u I have six terabytes of storage and my only complaint is the keyboard that's it.

    Would you recommend this or the HP pavilion plus 14? I'm looking for something with decent power but not too expensive.
    Also, is the screen oled?

    If you compare this to the Lenovo T14 Gen 3 (the Gen 4 is a step back) would you rate them at about the same with the HP? I know the T14 is more expensive and has a better port selection. I just don't understand why the 7 series Ryzen is not able to perform better, it must be the 8Gb single channel? We all know that AMD loves dual channel. I am so glad I got the T14 with a normal US keyboard and none of all those confusing hieroglyphs that HP put on the keyboard because, well... French, European and so on (on keyboard to rule them all?).

    • @FawfulDied

      It's because 7-series AMD is a mix of Zen 2 cores (7120U, 7220U, 7320U, 7520U), slightly modified Zen 3 Cezanne APUs from 2021 (you can tell it's one of these if it uses DDR4), Zen3+ Rembrandt APUs from last year, Zen4 "Phoenix" APUs, and modified desktop chips. So good luck figuring out what you're getting without looking up the exact APU model.

    It's a great, low price, but IMO if you can afford more spend or save for something better. I have used a similar (not HP basic laptop for 6 years) when the price is that low $450usd you suffer with a poor screen, which something you interact with daily. I recently upgraded to 2 year old, but new in box Thinkpad X1 Nano for $780usd and the display, sound, battery life, keyboard, trackpad, everything you interact with is better.

    You can code on a potato, I do on an 8 yr old laptop.

    • @SoulOfTech
      @SoulOfTech  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      On the principle of just coding you are 100% right!
      However people's need varies. Ie some people coding also are applying it to visual design or someone may be using heavier IDEs. Some people just like having a 4K display when coding so it's easier on the eyes in those cases they extra pixel push needs a little more horse power.

    In fact you are reviewing GameBoxes and NinTendo's. No sane user will ever need the brute power of the new processors. My most powerful laptop is a dual core i3 1135 (Asus X415). I never use more than 25% of it. Watching pictures and movies on a 250 nit 56% RGB machine is no problem at all. You don't need 400 nit 100% P3.
    Only for video editing, something a normal user will NEVER EVER do, just buy a Dell Precision 3460 and use the laptop for average tasks. And then suddenly, a Pentium Gold will be more than enough.
    Do you need a McLaren to go groceries shopping? Do you go to the dentist in a Peterbuilt? Did you buy a LearJet for your trip to the beach every leap year? A CAT D9 for doing the garden?
    This is what all reviewers and unboxers are doing: showing us all how powerful machine can be. Whereas most users just want a machine that replaces a television screen.
    Your channel is very appealing since it is the most down to earth of all reviewers. You also spend time with 'lesser' machines like this HP14 an some cheaper Dell's which is highly appreciated. The others only review the top specced models, which is useless to most of us.
    My tip, to stand out of the crowd even more: install Linuxes (there are plenty of them) on some machines (which you already have) and compare those. The days of Windows are counted. The most non-durable, power wasting operating system around.
    Try to put a 32 bit Linux on a recent machine and see what WinTel have been doing to make this nearly impossible. And then see what Alien Bob et al did to circumvent it.
    You are much too smart for just unboxings and spec-bashing.

    • @Pozi_Drive
      @Pozi_Drive ปีที่แล้ว

      AMD have been making Intel chips 15 years longer than Intel. AMD invented the x86-64 instruction set. AMD is the low power, high performance, champion..

    • @michelvondenhoff9673
      @michelvondenhoff9673 ปีที่แล้ว

      In a laptop I'd prefer AMD over Intel,in a desktop simple bang for the buck could be either or the cheaper to put the money to mobo or dual channel memory.
