- We were feeling like doing a short bike tour. For years we had talked about riding the William Munger Trail up to Duluth and back. With only 2 nights we decided to ride from Moose Lake up to Duluth (Canal Park area) and spend two nights there. While in Duluth we planned to ride up the North Shore a bit to the Scenic Cafe.
Day two of our tour had us riding from Duluth to the Scenic Cafe for lunch and then back to Duluth. Our ride took us along the Lakewalk on Lake Superior and the along the old highway 61. We were treated to a beautiful day with amazing views and a great lunch. The riding on the old highway 61 was good with a wide shoulder and slower traffic (50 MPH maximum). After two days of riding, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Bellisio's. Again we enjoyed a picture-perfect afternoon and evening in Canal Park.

Hey Richard you showed up on the algorithm and I instantly clicked..I cycle all over Duluth and the North shore scenic route. I got in 1600+ miles for the year of 2024. Love this video because I've biked the exact same path probably 100s of times.
Glad the algorithm brought you to our video. You are lucky to be able to ride along the North shore frequently. We have done that ride a few times since the video and it is always fun and beautiful. Thanks for watching!
I'm planning my trip to Duluth ... amazing views!! How dis you store your bike when you were at hotel? Did you bring it in the room with you? Also, what locks do you use to store bikes? Thanks, Bob
Bob, I am glad you enjoyed the video and hope your Duluth trip planning is going well. In hotels we bring our bikes into the room and do not even ask at the desk. We have never had an issue. If we stay at am older hotel or B&B they typically will have a shed for bikes or will let you put them in the their garage. We have been able to store our bikes in the housekeeping storage areas in a few hotels (they offered when they saw our bikes). Interestingly, in Europe the hotel bell hops will greet you and take you bikes after unloading to their storage area and bring them out to you in the morning. I have a pretty basic cable with a smaller key based lock on it. Our bikes are old low end hybrids that would not be targets for a bicycle thief (they would have to be pretty desperate!). Thanks for watching!
@@RichardMooreAndJulieMoore ... Thanks, exactly what was hoping! You have been to some nice places! Been binge watching the bike trails. How fun! My wife and I are in our late fifties and found biking a great time and exercise. Our journey is just starting ... we walked consistently for the last 2 years and biking is definitely using different muscles ... we are up to 10+ mile bike rides now out in the country where we live. Thanks again ... Bob
