Maybe Sis and Bro are conversing with the gulls, be afraid, be very afraid 😱. What a super day, they may not happen often but when they do BOOM SHAKALAKA!
Your interaction with the dogs is soooo funny. Our cats get angry when I get my detector and go. They shun me for a while when I come back. Great day with the rings! You deserve it.
This was absolutely a day maker !!! I couldn’t stop laughing about the meat falling from the sky and your dogs looking at you like “ dude we just wanna go back to sleep, what are you saying !!!!! “
I found two very heavy men`s 14k rings and a smaller 14k diamond ring one day in about 35 minutes on a freshwater beach swimming area on Toledo Bend Lake on the LA/TX border...then got into a junk field of old tin cans, sheets of rusted tin, and iron. The lake was very low because they were working on the dam so where I was detecting would have normally been about 4 to 5 feet deep. I know I would have found more gold but there was no way to deal with the trash pile under the sand or I would have tried to sort through it to get to the gold. I found a tiny gold earring and some John Denver style gold rim glasses too, a lot of coins, and several old watches that weren`t worth anything. The lake was made in the late 1960s so no silver coins. One of the Timex watches still worked and it had apparently been there for a very long time. I was using a Radio Shack rebranded Bounty Hunter detector with target ID I bought in 1996.
Have you tried any of the new detectors? One of my first was a bounty hunter. The top-notch ones today obliterate that bounty hunter but yes it is still capable of pulling great things! It sounds like you had a great day!
@@MetalDetectingNYC I`d like to get one but have been buying a solar setup piece by piece because I`ll be moving soon to a very rural area. Seems like the world is falling apart so I`m trying to get as independent from it all as possible. My nephew bought another Bounty Hunter for me a few years ago, a Pioneer 202, so that has got me interested in it again. I haven`t used it much but found a Walking Liberty half dollar and part of a gold bracelet with it. I`m gonna try to find some old dumps in the woods with it when I move. There aren`t a lot of good places open to the public to hunt in this area. I was thinking about starting a recovery business finding lost objects in the future in this area.
Wow just Wow that was a day , you deserve it Merrill good for you!!! But I should let you know ahh .......Mr. Barry Troll live down the block and I have never herd him Screaming so Loud!! Something about Holes everywhere and to the horizon and Apocalypse coming and then I saw an ambulance racing to his house and then it was real quiet and then it left..... any ways that was a great day !!!!! R.I.P. Barry
Barry definitely got after me after this video but I did make sure that the holes were filled so that no one would trip. I realize it didn’t look that way because you see disturbed send but there was no drop off. Barry uses a 3-D printer on the beach to make the sand aesthetically perfect! 😂
It took me years to get my first because I was in the habit of digging for silver. I rarely dig mid tones in parks. Most of my gold comes from beaches.
Sir Merrell I thought I had seen all of your videos but I was wrong!,got to admit days like those are a rare event, you don't want to stop!, brings back a memory of a hunt I did last winter when I hit 7 gold and 2 silver one evening, had to stop cause it turned to night, went back the next evening after work and got 5 more gold rings, never have had a day like that again, here in Texas coast so much comparison, some times 15 to 20 detectors every day
I learned 50 yrs. ago if you find the sand pulled back and it is producing stay with it because here in Fl. it will only last about 4or 5 days and then they are gone I found it trenched out about 8 foot deep one day I found 8 gold rings in 4 hrs.I could not get back for about 4 days and it had filled in to about 3 feet found a few more gold rings and then it was over but i marked it on my calender and watched the next year it happened the next year again about the same time of year hunted it like that for years and found many rings and then the city fathers decided they would stop the sand from washing out ,they hauled huge bolders in and put them in the water well they wound up totaly destroying a beautiful beach they should have been given about 30 days in the electric chair and then hung dont mess with mother nature
Those are the most adorable dogs ever. And, another amazing hunt video from the all-time god of detectors. I am inspired to resume detecting after decades!
Always instructional and entertaining. Awesome silver, gold and diamond hunt! Hey, is your son’s voice getting deeper? Sounds like it. Thank you, Merrill! Catch you on the next one..
Hey Antonio! I actually intend on going back to the channel in the future so stay tuned to both please. I would say most expensive would be platinum ring with a big diamond. In terms of historic, I would say state coppers, reales or other colonial currencies.
Sooo much stuff... and the toes! I'm frozen on behalf of those toes... how do you do it?? Mind you... maybe that's what the seagulls are actually after!! Look after all your extremities Merrill... you need them! 😁🤣 PS - Now I'm wondering... are the slip-slops the secret to your success?? I'm dreaming - of a day like that...
Hey Vossie! 1.) Its the flip flop juju 2.) Think of the volume of people that visit a given beach 3.) Think of what I call "carrying capacity". What I mean with 3 is.....if you go to a site where there is a lot of competition that detects it frequently, you might be disappointed. What people forget about NYC is that we live on a set of islands. There is LOTS of coastline. I look for spots with volume that slip under the radar from other detectorists.
One of the reasons that I got into metal detecting it’s because I lost my own ring. I never found it because the field that I lost it was paved. I have observed that most rings are lost at the beach. Think about when your hands get wet when you’re swimming. They get all wrinkly. That is when rings fall off.
What an amazing day! Congratulations on your record rings! Do you think your dogs turn away from you because you have the camera on them? I know my dogs always turn away from me when I try to take their pictures😂
Lauren I honestly think that my dogs think I’m a monster. They could care less about me feeding them. I think they like me a little because they wag their tails at me but they are a tough crowd!

WOW!!! Congratulations what a great day of metal detecting and thanks for sharing.

I found a Iron ring before.. Theyre typically given to Engineers who graduate their schooling in Canada.. Its a Canadian thing.
Thank you Mark! I learned so much in the comment section!

Love the video and the relationship with the dogs - priceless!!!
The million dollar question is, do they like their relationship with me? I don’t think so Helen! lol 😂
You had a great day. Considering you were out there with shorts and sandals , you did incredibly well.
Congratiulations. I now deeply regret not going to the beach this weekend when I had the chance. Very inspiring.

@@JW-fb5us thanks John it was an epic day.it was a very small beach that must have been overlooked by other detectorist.

Weird time for that much stuff on the beach. Are you going back to parks soon?
It was last month. October is push in season. As for parks im already there until the next weather event.

What is your guess on the stories behind the rings you find, a divorce or just a bad day at the beach?
