They laughed at me a year ago when I mentioned a possible integrated AIO with HDZero, can't wait to try one of these.....Great to see innovation still happening in FPV! Thanks Ian and HDZero!
It was probably a bit of a challenge though I imagine the board is so thick because everything for the HD zero is probably run through layers on that side and the all-in-one is run through layers on the other side so other than the parts that needed to interconnect it was probably routed as two separate boards and then just stuck together.
Love it. I'm hoping one day for a slightly bigger board with 2S-3S 15A ESCs and UART ELRS for toothpicks. Then we'd have all the bases covered. Good job HDZero.
Fantastic! Thanks a bunch for the review and all the info, Ian! 😃 Yeah, F411 and SPI receiver aren't great, but... At least they showed it's possible! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Im so excited for these ! I’ll finally buy into hd zero. The lux camera sounds like everything i’ve been asking for. All i really want is low light performance
Can't wait to fly this! SPI receiver or not, this is a true achievement and, based on what I've seen, durable too! Next, give us 90Hz on the analog cameras and I will have zero to hope for in this space!
Great video. It would have been helpful to confirm why you are getting so little breakup, was this the FPV feed (why no OSD?), and if if it was what vtx power were you running ? Seems to be doing very well amongst the trees and branches for 25mW?
i'd love it too! its hard enough getting the right antennas from Phaser, and i've not had any better luck from any other store, really wish there was a local hobby shop that stocked basically anything DIY FPV, they usually just have toy grade RTFs
I wonder if the reason the amplifier goes up is because it’s trying to compensate for the low voltage. Where as when the battery is plugged in there is enough voltage to go around. Maybe I’m just stupid and you already realized that lol. Very interesting!
i'm still on Analog, its getting more and more difficult to pick a HD system to jump on, i was previously set on HDZero because i didn't like DJI as a company, then Walksnail came out and i accepted the latency was worth it, then DJI O3 came out and i was challenged in my convictions against DJI with how good it was, and then the Caddx Gofilm 20 brought me back to Walksnail, and now with this tiny board, i just want one HD system that can work with such tiny and light machines and the bigger recording machines, i think HDZero and Walksnail is where i want to go, more expensive but more flexible
@@Sugar_K I was in hdz from the start up until the last "improvement of quality" sorry man, analog is cheaper, and just as good. in fact, the breakup on analog makes it a clear better choice. But i get it, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.
i looked at your videos... I'm not racing, so we are obviously using it differently. I also want to say I'm not some analog absolutist trying to yuck your yum, do what makes you happy 🙂 my experience with it was very underwhelming. Fly safe.
Wow, things are going forward. Such a shame that the fw upgrade port is not at the same time the usb port or vice versa. There could be some weight be saved. The betafpv usb port replacement is maybe not convenient but light.
You can't share the same port for USB and FW updating. Not only is the power requirement different (USB is 5v and the FW update port supplies 3.3v to the transmitter when updating) but you can't have the same data lines running to both the MCU and the VTX. There would be no way to only send the proper data to the proper place
Im confused how peoplebare using SPI ERLS receivers with updated erls. I updated my whoops and mpdules abd pretty much briked my whoop boards not knowing it wasn't compatible.
Yep, HappyModel has a race or freestyle BnF. I’d recommend the freestyle even if you race. Only 0.2g heavier and the Lux camera is so much better quality.
Caddx is already in WAAAAY over their head with their digital system. Very much a fake it till you make it approach. At least Carl knows what he's doing. I will give him that 100%
Great work by HDZero I’ll personally hold off as I don’t see too much difference between analog and HDZero from my first hand use of both. Image still looks… ‘analog-ie’
Also not really a big deal. Actually because of new betaflight and quicksilver updates. I prefer spi because it’s so easy to setup now compared to regular flashing
Your flight footage doesn’t look HD. How does this look compared to a mipi cable HD feed? Is that just what HD Zero looks like, even on the higher power HD Zero VTX’s?
It’s not power, it’s the ahd vs mipi cams. The ahd cams look like a very very good analog camera without the analog static and color distortion. If you look around for the hdz micro v3 cam reviews that is the best image quality they have
It’s the quality consistency when flying with others that is going to be the standout point, try flying with 4 others with analogue and you’ll understand, frankly this is amazing by comparison.
My only problem with Beta flight is they're going to this online only updating type of thing. I know it's been that way for a while, but I think they're gonna outlaw. That no drone is gonna be allowed to be connected to the internet.@@jas-FPV

They say bad things about hdzero but clearly Carl has been going in the right direction for hdzero. I hope to try this soon
Routing this board must have been hell. Good job to whoever did it. 🤯
Hell yeah I’ve done some board design in Eagle that’s some work.
For sure this was not auto routed 😅

Good Job Carl ! HD zero users are lucky to have you. I am so jealous, I hope walksnail gives us something similar soon.

nothing but love and respect. you keep it real every time and you show your knowledge and details on parts like nobody else. Thank you Ian!
I fantasized about an aio from way back when the first hdz board was released, I can’t believe they did it wow 🤩
Very hyped. Hoping for non SPI Elrs and 540p90fps on a newer version of this board some day!
Exciting! I hope Walksnail does this someday soon. Even just 25mw would be completely usable.
🎉🥳 Thanks HDZERO and Happymodel!!!

Wow 🤯 sure is a lot of things that could go wrong on that little thing 😉 time will tell 😁 thanks for the great info and knowledge
Ordered mine from tinywhoop and I’m PUMPED for lightweight hd
Interesting, would of preferred 12A. Will have to see how well the 5V regulator lasts like most 5A AIOs with digital.

I find FPVFaster is pretty good for most things I’m lucky they are almost local living in Sydney :) but yeah the ozzy tax on USA components is brutal!

This is incredible, I’ll need to sell a kidney though to get this plus the HDzero Google’s.

I can’t wait till openipc gets as good as dji o4 or o3 and and gets into an aio like this.
Is the white cam wire just for camera settings? If so you could set it as you want then remove the white wire to save another fraction of a gram :)
This is brilliant!
I wonder how the keep the yield on this board high. So many chances for something to go wrong.
Now we just need a walksnail one!
I doubt the PCB thickness is for strength. It's probably because it's essentially two PCBs stuck together
No it's something I specifically spoke to HDZero about and it's a 14 layer board designed to be more rigid.

To bad its STM F411
Going with one of these compatible ones they could have used full elrs and make it even cheaper
Same MCU as most whoops, it's the smallest, considering the board space limit here, I have no complaints
SPI ELRS Rx... why?!
probably because of missing boardspace...
Because there simply is not enough space for an Esp32. In this case it's literally the only option. Or an external receiver.
