You shouldn't be "afraid" to ask if they have anything on the menu that meets your dietary restrictions. Any reputable restaurant will try their best to cater to them, but they will also be upfront about it if they can't.

Its the oldest theme park in the world for as far I was told. Walt never went to de efteling thats just an old wives tale. He was here to see how the movies were going in dutch. And yes the stories are OG stories are way darker then Disney lets out.
Disney world opening was in 1955, The opening of the Efteling was 1952. So the efteling shouldn't be called : The Disney of the Netherlands. Disney should be called: The Efteling of Amerika
The story about Walt visiting the Efteling is not true actually. He was in the Netherlands to visit the studio that was dubbing his movies in Dutch and he went to Tivoli Gardens in Denmark, but that's about it.
Actually there are quite a few gluten free options at the restaurants as well as for other allergies but you have to ask the staff there and they can tell you which you can or can not have.
Disney did not find inspiration back then at the Efteling, Walt never visited the park. Back when he first started thinking and developing his, The Efteling barely existed yet. Efteling opened just a short 3 years before Disneyland did and at the start was nothing more then a playground and tiny piece of the current vast fairy tale forest which then only consisted of 10 tableau's. No rides where there until 1956 when the Caroussel opened. Instead Walt and Lillian frequently visited Tivoli gardens in Kopenhagen.

The Efteling have loads of gluten-free options, it’s also stated on their website. And the personnel is very informed about celiac as well.
I am also dairy free as well so it made it a bit more difficult as not all the GF options are dairy free!
