    Great work Steven! As you say, it’s a pretty scary job popping a piston and I’ve not done it before. I’ve cleaned the slide pins in case they were affecting the Kia brakes but think it’s the pistons that need a service and causing an imbalance on the MOT. I might try and pop them out a bit and give them a polish up 1st! Great video! 👍

      The seal kit wasn’t expensive and my piston needed to be replaced too for about €10 a corner it was worth doing the work myself. The car does feel more quicker and I do notice it rolling more, I say the brakes were just every so slightly on all the time and also added to poor mpg

    Another great job completed 👏 they are a head ache when it's not going in square but that's part of the challenge!
    TT's do seem to suffer more with rust than the rest of the vag range, that piston was bad!

      The fronts went in grand . So much easier to do the job with the brake rewind tool . Should of bough it years ago . I’ve had been using G clamps to squeeze them back

    Steven, would be helpful to post info on the rebuild kit you used in the info section.

      Done, added in the description no links as they change weekly. I bought the kit from mister auto. Apx €10 for each corner plus postage. Just the seal kit if you I know out pistons are in good shape is even cheaper at €5. But I’d still go for the full kit with new piston as it’s so cheap, and any damage to the piston will cut the new seals.

    Good video. Thanks. Where did you get the repair kit?

    Would have helped if you had shown the grief involved with cleaning the seal grooves out and getting the dust boot seal into its groove..

      You would of spent a lot of time listing to me swearing trying to get the dust boot seal to fit. The first one ( in the video ) went in first go . The second one ( didn’t record it) took about 1/2 an hour. Don’t know why it just didn’t want to fit. I used A tiny bit of grease on the first seal and worked it into the seal so that might of been why it went in first go. I used a tiny wire wheel and a pick to clean out the grooves

    Hi mate. What did you do with the brake line? Did you plug it with something?

    • @stevenharpervw
      @stevenharpervw  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can’t remember I think I plugged it with either ear plugs or an old calliper or used a vicegrip with blue paper ripped around the jaws and clamped the hose . Sorry I don’t really remember

      @@stevenharpervw no problem at all. Trying to find somwhere says whatpeople plugged with. Ive got braided hosing upgrade. Will see if car spares shop has idea

      @@zimbabwayne5626 yeah you could wind back in an old calliper or you might’ve able to find a push in a ear plug ( the soft squishy ones) . Into the hose . Obviously the metal pipe will be too small. Really what your doing is just trying to stop a mess and stop it getting in to the abs. Don’t forget flush the brake fluid ( should be changed every 3 years
