    Once you fill it to the "full" line, take a permanent marker and draw a line on the right side where the fluid comes to, this will make the net change easier.

      Hey, Yeah that would help make things quicker/easier instead of having to go around on the other side to check the level indicator heh.

      ty for the video does anyone know if i can put blue coolant if my ninja that came from the dealer comes with green?

    • @Out4aRip
      @Out4aRip  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I read a few threads on this and the majority say yes you can swap them out. I would recommend flushing the old one prior to refilling. Here's a link to a topic discussing some of the differences etc: advrider.com/index.php?threads/coolant-colors.749922/
      Hope it helps!

    I appreciate this! I have been looking all day trying to figure out where the drain plug was! My owners manual only says to have an authorized Kawi dealer change the coolant, and the service manual says to read the owners manual. I got a ’12 and this looks pretty much the same so I am assuming that this is a similar model, everything looks the same. Thanks again! subbed just for how helpful this was!

    Thanks - this video was very useful. Just replaced my coolant... I had some spare so flushed through some coolant in an attempt to fully remove the old one. Also went with a wide container, not a circular bucket cause there's white a range the flow can land with, hard to catch it all with a bucket!

    Thanks for the video. Just FYI: I went to have some service done on my 650 Ninja and wanted them to change the coolant for me, but they said it would take about 5 hours to wait for the engine to cool off completely before they could do it. That's one bit of extra info anyone wanting to do their own coolant change may want to take into consideration.

    • @Out4aRip
      @Out4aRip  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hah yeah, you definitely don't want to open up your rad with it under that hot pressure! Same with a car.(I think 5hours is excessive though) . You are correct though, I should have given a warning prior to diving in.

    Thanks for this man! Changed my 2015 Ninja 650 tonight. I got it a few weeks ago at 30 miles...lady had it stored in her garage 3 years. Anyways, this really helped. I ended up flushing w/ distilled water to be safe. One thing that was different for me was filling the radiator...I brought it to the neck and let it go back down like you said. Brought it to the neck again, but it didn't go back down. Still managed to get the cap on fine though and filled the reservoir to near-full. Hopefully I didn't overfill or do something wrong? Lol

    Nice videos (Sports bar installation & coolant change).
    My bike was on center stand coz of snow and the next day due to super strong winds; the bike rolled back and fell on the right side. Unfortunately, came to know after an hour or so; when I lifted it up, I presume coolant (coz green color fluid) was sticking to the fairings and obviously the handlebar took the hit (its bend to some angle). Once the temp rises here to little above normal & no more snow storms; will cross check the coolant level again. Is there anything else, per your experience that I should check. So far the list is below -
    1. Coolant check & replace coz its almost 1.5 years. Suggestion - you may want to use funnel to fill in (like we do for oil change)..thoughts?
    2. Replace handlebar with sports bar along with grips and bar ends.
    3. Anything else?

    Just curious why you didn't flush the system if it hasn't been changed in that long. I think it's something I'm going to do with just some distilled water. Otherwise very helpful video.

    • @Out4aRip
      @Out4aRip  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep you can absolutely do a full flush.
      Here's a link to a good video if you needed a bit of help: th-cam.com/video/T5AqlfGeyng/w-d-xo.html
      Service manual just called for a change If i remember correctly and I've typically been going based on that in conjunction with some online reading. I may do the full flush within the next year or so though.

    My spouse just picked up a 2021 Ninja 650, today we notice for the first time that there there is a hose with an open-end near the bottom of the bike and I will say there was less than 5ml of coolant that had leaked out. Is this normal is a something to take the bike back into the shop for seeing as it is a brand new bike?

    😱 thanks a lot for the video. I didn’t know there was the coolant liquid like cars! I thought for the little engine of a motorcycle it was enough the simple fan. My god…🤦🏽‍♂️… can I ask you if you know why my ninja use to stall the engine when it’s still cold at each red traffic light and why it take a lo of seconds to start? I heard it may be because temperature/pressor sensor or ecu… before starting to change components I’d like to hear the opinion of someone with the same problem pr just more experience then me…Kawasaki mechanics cost a lot just to give a look without any warranty to find the problem and 1 hour of their work would cost me more then if I replace a lot of components trying to figure out the problem. Thanks for any help

      I would imagine that would cause coolant to spray everywhere while taking the drain bolt out if you took the cap off before removing. Have no experience with Ducati. I just hear things regarding high maintenance costs and not as reliable as Japanese bikes(Honda Kawi etc) but a Ducati owner would be able to provide you with better feedback on that one!
