Many years ago, I met a woman with these same demands. I was like yeah right! I married her. My Mom told me just remember that if a woman has those standards for herself, imagine the standards she would hold for your children, and how people should be treated. Whoa this song set the whole world upside down. A woman totally happy and a man sitting there desillusioned. Usually it is the other way around.
She used to be married to Robert"Mutt" Lange, who co-wrote and produced this song. Lange was a hugh rock producer at one time who did alot of AC/DC and Def Leppard stuff, as well as Foreignor and others. This sounded like no other C/W album before it and influenced how others sounded.
Can really hear the "Def Leppard" sound in this song.

This and You don't impress me Much are my favorite songs of hers. Brad, get what yr saying tho Shania is a very good woman. Her parents died in a car crash in Canada. Took over the responsibility of taking care of her siblings while singing underage in a club. She's a class act! I love her voice.

Shania Twain was one of several "New Country" stars who arrived on the music scene in the early 90s. She bridged country and pop and went on to huge success as a result.
Most people had no idea she was Canadian, until she did interviews. People thought she was a southern girl, lol.

@@unclefido6484 I'm confused, that is clearly her voice. So she made a video, recorded a song and we are seeing the final take where she was lip syncing to her own voice? And she does the same thing live? I've been following her career since the beginning, I'm from Texas and when she broke out she was everywhere a lot, but anyway I've seen a lot over the years, and never once did lip syncing cross my mind. And even if you're right and sometimes she did do that for whatever reason, she's still working very hard with the amount of dancing and playing she does. I do know that sometimes a performer will have to lip sync if he or she is sick, doesn't have a good voice or no voice, can't cancel... most of the time though they cancel (and reschedule) if they can't sing and perform. My question to you is where did this come from? What makes you think this, how do you know?
Well, the lady in the song is 100% upfront about what SHE wants in a man. Now, it's up to the man if he wants to deliver. (Does anyone bat an eye on the lyrics of the Stone's "Under My Thumb"?)
It's just a song for the ladies. I grew up in a small town in Ontario, Canada and this song would come on at the "Buck and Doe", (which all the locals would go to no matter who was getting married), and all the ladies storm the dancefloor and take over. It's just a fun song.

Brad, love ya brother but you can’t take lyrics too literal. I think what she meant by this song is she wants that perfect relationship, the perfect love. She will be the perfect woman, doing the female version of the things she describes wanting her man to do. I found that kind of love at the age of 40, I gave my wife everything she wanted, the love she wanted, just because it made her happy. She gave me the exact same thing, just because it made me happy. When 2 people come together, and their only goal is to make the other happy.... it is a beautiful thing. Most people will never experience that type of love. I lost her 8 years later to cancer, she was 48. They say it’s better to have loved and lost than to mever have loved at all. It’s been 4 years since she passed, and I am not sure I agree with that old adage. I am a broken shell of a man now. Watching you two gives me hope though. Cynical brad and the happy go lucky lex, very much like me and my Katrina were. Wish nothing but the best for y’all!

When I went to Germany last year, this was the only thing anybody remembered about me,, that my ex wife played this song constantly,when we were there 10 years before.

If the clapping parts remind you of Pour Some Sugar On Me by Def Leppard, that's cause her then husband-producer was also the group's producer. He's the one who gave her music the rock sound that made her stand out from the other country artists back then. She started a trend in country music.

I’m enjoying your trip into country music, when I was growing up in the 80’s all the adults in my family listened to country music and I would call it “old people music” and could never stand to listen to it at the time, as I’ve grown older I’ve come to really appreciate it for what it is and I absolutely love older country music today anything from the 50’s to early 2000’s is pretty much gold , most of it is beautiful and has a really good message behind it ,faith , family, god and love of your country , it’s just great music for the soul , it really helps me appreciate friends and family more , keep up the great videos ,you guy are awesome happy 4th everyone

Primarily, it's a silly song, with 'fun' lyrics - not to be taken literally/seriously. This song was written by her and her husband... surely some of the ideas were his too.
@@g3synth205 Yes, I remember when this song first came out. At the time, it was quite obvious it was just a fun song. Back then, men would jokingly complain about these sorts of things. She and husband no doubt understood this and wrote a fun song about it. But today, with all the war between the sexes and everything, I don't think this song would be taken the same way - if it were written now.

This was the Baby Hit Me One More Time of country music. Huge moment. Her husband helped her make these songs, Mutt Lang, extremely talented. He helped make Def Leppard huge..and you can hear Def Leppard in the chorus, that technique that's used. Yes, I articulated that badly. Shania is amazing, from rags to riches..was dirt poor and now she was DIAMOND albums..

This was Shania's first really big hit song.
Mutt Lange is the genius behind this song. This iconic producer and song writer (who was married to Shania) litterary made the Def Leppard sound in the 80s and the Bryan Adams sound in the 90s. "Any Man Of Mine" is basically a country version of "Pour Some Sugar On Me". The way he builds the crescendo at the end and then completely stops the music for a second before exploding with the final chorus in a higher note is typical of his songs (some songwriters like Diane Warren would say that it's a "Desmond Child thing", another legendary songwriter of the period).
Nooooo! There are two songs that you never let your woman hear. Any Man Of Mine and Janet Jackson, What Have You Done For Me Lately. It gives them way too many ideas! Great reaction!

Walk the Line is a reference to Johnny Cash's hit song, and the male persona it depicts is the type of man that the female persona in Shania"s song finds most attractive. Referencing old country music songs in newer songs is as common a sampling is in Hip Hop/EDM. Without that frame of reference, the song does come off sounding a little harsh. However, it is not talking about shallow stuff like the man's looks, clothes, physique, job or bank account, rather about his character attributes. Walking the Line is about loyalty and dedication, which ironically, Shania's husband and co-songwriter did not have, as Mutt ended up cheating on her with her married best friend.
