Bumping up the ends before cutting them would make them fit the 2.5 better right ?

Either way will work.

But those ends are at a weld, 45 degrees turns and you would be stretching metal that was stretched for the turns. I'm no professional but I like the simplicity and speed that these were made and I think the oval looks better. Make a video so we can see the differences. (This sounds harsh, but no negativity intended)

Thing that work good on mine Pole cuz we're the V6 comes together up front I'd like to come back with a 3-inch over the rear diff and then split it and put duals outlets on it I got the Mazda Tribute but it's the same thing as a Ford Escape but I got the Dual Overhead engine like they put in the s h o Taurus
