Thank you Michelle! I appreciate that so much! I hope to have a create another tutorial on how to make the entire pumpkin, from start to finish by the end of August.
You are so welcome! This was 2 years ago, and the next year I designed scented sunflowers. They are fun to crochet as well. th-cam.com/video/jGyIlyLS7dg/w-d-xo.html
It Works for me I crochet other shapes, too, Owls - butterflies flowers, and put on backs an fill with stuffing and wax melts (started last summer) and the smell/scent lasted a few months = now, I make some in crocheted (granny square bags, I can refill to hang on rearview mirror in our car!
I love this pumpkin pattern! I never thought to put a sent packet in them. I was originally going make keychains with this pumpkin style. But I am worried the outer threads could snag and snap easily. I am definitely thinking of making cute home deco pieces with them instead!
I have put a few of them in my drawers with my clothing, and the scent is still strong. I threw one in the trunk of my car and one in the back window. The smell was amazing all through winter to early summer. The summer heat made them lose their scent. The ones in my clothing drawers are still going strong. I had someone suggest herbs, potpourri, or catnip. I think those are great ideas as well. I recently wrote a crochet pattern for scented sunflower sachets. I haven't produced the video yet...it is coming, but there are so many things on my hook right now. Here is a link to the Sunflower Sachets. I hope you enjoy the crochet pattern. krissysoverthemountaincrochet.com/2022/10/how-to-crochet-a-sunflower-sachet-free-pattern/
YAY! I hope you do make them...I think the quality of the wax melts determines the longevity of the scent. The scent of the more expensive wax melt is still vibrant. Especially the ones that I put in my clothing drawers. I recently purchased scentsy wax melts, and I am going to try this with miniature lemons....I will be putting them in the car to see how they do. I think the heat will drain the scent quicker, so that will determine how long the scentsy wax melts hold up. This will also be test as to whether or not, the wax drips through to the outside. I live in WV and there hasn't been summer heat since I made the pumpkins. Also, I have had a pumpkin in the back window of my car, and the wax never did drip through to the outside, and if you sit in the back seat, you can still smell it. It doesn't fragrance the whole car any longer. I'm excited about the lemons though.
Hi there, I had planned to have it ready by the end of August, but it may be the middle of next week before it is ready. It is in the works though. I'll come back here and give you a link when it is ready.
Wax melts are highly scented and the smell does come through. I threw one in the trunk of my car and you could smell it every time I opened the trunk. When the high heat of summer hit, the wax melts lost the scent. The same happened for the pumpkins I put in the car. The pumpkins that I put in my clothing drawer are still working, scenting my clothing a year later. It really makes a wonderful sachet. I recently published at sunflower sachet crochet pattern. I haven't had time to make the video, but here is a link to the written crochet pattern. krissysoverthemountaincrochet.com/2022/10/how-to-crochet-a-sunflower-sachet-free-pattern/
