Everything about an Indian is beautiful!

So today, I rode an HD Street Glide, a Road King, and then back to back Chieftain and Chieftain w/ Stage 3. For my riding style and preference, the Street Glide is an awesome package. I thought the Milwaukee 8 pulled pretty hard and handled really well. I like the riding position of the Street Glide of all the bikes. The seat and riding position were the most comfortable of all the bikes. I felt like I could ride the Street Glide for hours without getting fatigued.
But in the end, I ended up buying a Chieftain Dark Horse and having the dealer put the Stage 3 kit in it. I just couldn't bring myself to going with the crowd. I wanted something different and the Indian Chieftain Dark Horse fits that bill, even more so with the performance kit.

@Thomas Joseph bike is great. Unfortunately, my dealer was not. I actually had bought 2 new bikes from them at the same time...the Indian and a BMW Adventure Bike. Every time I went in for warranty work they were pretty bad. I ended up selling both bikes after a year, but the Indian was awesome.

I rode one today. Didn't have the upgrades though. First time on a bike this big. I was so excited after I rode it that I wanted to buy it right then, but, I am not there yet. A few more months yet. I currently have a Suzuki M-50. No comparison, but the bike has been a great first bike. Ready to move up now!

I've never experianced anything like the Cheiftain. I just traded my 2022 Goldwing DCT for a 2023 Cheiftain Darkhorse and while the Goldwing is almost impossible to beat the Cheiftain offers a totally different experiance of equal merit. One that once tried is imposible to ignore. This is a good motorcycle. No, This is a magical motorcycle.

I had a chance to ride a new Indian at your dealers Indian Demo days a while ago. I have to agree the torque that engine, even stock, produces is impressive. Does the Stage Three Kit bump the rev limiter? I felt the stock revs where limited too low.
I have owned and modified several Harley Touring bikes, but have to say if I were in the market, had the money, I would consider a Indian over a new Harley today.

I don't like to pull out of the garage in a downpour, but if it isn't raining or just sprinkle, I'll go and not be too concerned about getting caught in a downpour. I love the Indian's, always have and have several now
been thinking about picking up a 2018 Chieftain with the stage 3 but im holding off, id love to see them count out with something like the 17 Chieftain Elite, i missed out last time, but wont miss out this time.
Id also like to see Indian expand into a new line that is not based on the Chief.
Love to see them come out with something more sporty like Victory had, something along the lines of a Jackpot with a 250mm tire. That would modernize a new line of Indian's and id be all over one of those, i have a Victory Jackpot, love it.
wife thinks i have too many bikes now but she doesnt stop me, just thinks im going through a mid life thing lol.
I know you have a lot of bikes Shawn, here is my list.
    1948 Indian Chief (mint)
    2003 Indian Chief (Gilroy)
2010 Indian Chief Bomber (Kings Mountain)
2014 Indian Chief Vintage (stage 1 and stage 2 completed)
2002 Yamaha v star 1100 (use when riding with my wife)
    2002 Yamaha v star 650 (wife's)

I traded in my 2016 Dark Horse for a 2018 Chieftain. Indian Motorcycle Sturgis had this exact bike. My salesman took it out and fired it up for me. This stage 3 sum bitch is loud! I mean LOUD! :) Too loud for me! I know loud pipes save lives, but you can hear this girl the next county over!

That's the nicest Indian I've ever seen. Not a fan of that far back a retro look. So needless to say, I don't like the look of Indian motorcycles. Don't like the Softail Heritage either. But that one there is a pretty bike. Not too retro. I gues you've forgotten the IRON & SGS.
I tried keeping up with your daily vlog, but its just too many videos to keep up with. I didn't unsub, I just don't watch them anymore. When I did, the other Motovloggers suffered. And I'm thinking about doung some videos of my 82 Goldwing restoration. But I'm gonna have to learn about editing and Yourube restrictions. Ride safe.

Was your recommendation to have the dealer flash done with pipes and air box? If so why do so many people seem to say the dealer flash was useless, buy a tuner? Are you suggesting a dyno tune or a canned remap. All my questions are about Harleys, btw.

    • @ShawnSmoak
      @ShawnSmoak  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yes, as it makes the necessary adjustments to compensate for the added flow of the intake and exhaust. This is the simplest and least expensive way to get the best (stock and legal) performance out of your bike and stage-1 add-on’s.
To say the flash does nothing is simply foolish..! I can see the adjustments being made through the SE Super Tuner Pro. Cracks me up when I hear people claim this...
Now, to get the best performance out your Harley, have it dyno tuned by a qualified tuner. This takes a canned map and tunes it perfect to your particular engine and mods installed. This can be spendy, but well worth it.
If you live in a CARB state, or get DEQ’d regularly, make sure the tuner sets it from perfect to legal at the end of the tune, otherwise your bike is not legal for highway use...
      Thanks for watching and commenting!!

I've rode the CVO road glide and the road king custom and it did not seem like it had any more power. I thought the road king had better low end torque.

Silly question maybe, can the tach and speedo be reversed, as in switch sides? I have limited vision in my left eye and prefer the speedo on the right as they're spread that far apart. Been riding my Guzzi LeMans for 32 years with big tach in the middle, speedo on the right, and my BMW R100RT had them side by side so it didn't matter. Love the Chieftain DH.

2 questions, 1 I just watched your video where you traded in your road king for the street glide special, then I see all your other videos, how many bikes do you own lol? 2nd question, how would you compare the Indian chieftain against your street glide? I was looking for that in this video, and I understand this has the bigger engine kit, and I’m not sure if you rode a regular chieftain but if so how would you stack up?
