Great video! I’ve had my Sinden guns for just over a month and I hadn’t gotten them to work with my arcade. Your video was very helpful and booting directly into Batocera is a breeze. I was able to use the Sinden for the first time this morning and I look forward to messing around with the settings to make the experience even better.
Light gun lunatics on arcade punks has a 220 gb batocera 39 light gun build and it's great and everything is again already configured and has every light gun you can imagine plus ps2 and ps3 also so that's the latest batocera light gun version that's easy as hell to set up
thanks for the tip, exactly what I was looking for, Just a quick one on the booting of the USB UEFI - it will fail unless you import the UEFI certificate from the Batocera USB drive. what you need should be under a folder on the usb, from your BIOS you need to find your key management section (usually under TPM management or some such...). From there you will have the option to import the certificate needed to enable you to boot, else it will just error on you. Hope this helps !
Thank you! I was literally ready to smash the Sinden into pieces. Although some games are still not right *ahem operation wolf 2*, overall it's been a success. @@ThunderBob no problem! Question for you. Do you have an issue with some of the games where if you point off screen to reload the cross hairs get totally off center? Is there a way to stop that from happening? It's totally weird since some games don't have that issue.
@@aaronshafer I haven't run into that before. Is there any specific games you notice it? I mostly reload pulling back the thing on the gun but I can test it out.
@@ThunderBob both of the Lethal Enforcers and Operation Wolf 3 are some examples. If I move too far to the left or right the cross hairs get pushed out of alignment. I can use the D-pad to kind of get them re-aligned but it's really annoying. I tinkered with the resolution and other settings.

I've owned my sinden gun for about 2 years - this is the first time I've been able to use it after I spent days initially trying to set the damn thing up. So far so good with this image - and thanks for the review. Question: I'm booting this via a USB stick in a laptop - is there a way to get this to display on a second screen? I can't see an option for second/mirrored screen support within the options. Need to get this playing on my main 65" TV.
Awesome! I'm glad it was helpful. Batocera should display on the last screen plugged in. Try to unplug then replug the HDMI. There is also an option in system settings then output settings to select your output. It's not perfect. On my desktop I've found it easier to sometimes only plug in the screen I want to display though I haven't used it on a laptop.
I am having a really hard time getting Space Shadow (NES) to work correctly. It uses HyperShot hardware originally. I need the D-Pad to work and one of the buttons so it fires the bomb. I'll be postiing this on Reddit as well.
This build was based on V35 and PS2 only got added in V37. I actually just updated mine and added some PS2, PS3 and Wii and it worked. I'll do a video in the next week showing how.

I've read it's possible but I only have the one gun so my knowledge is pretty limited. The biggest issue I read was that there can be issues having both guns on a single USB hub.

@@glenjohnson1941 well yes both guns. I can play Ghost Squad on the Wii with 4 guns. No issue. As long the emulator and the game support multiguns, it works. I think that for the moment only model2 is one gun. But there is plan to make it multigun eventually

Can i ask will this work exactly the same via a steam deck? as in no setting up the sinden light gun, as i already have batocera running through my steam deck via hdmi into my legends ultimate arcade machine so would the sinden light gun run from the steam deck and i use the legends screen to aim at? hope that makes sense, thanks

Are you using libretro:mame? Have you tried with 2 sinden guns? I noticed that for most games, only 1 gun works (Area51, etc). For some games like Terminator 2, I don't neither guns work. How do you calibrate in-game without a keyboard?
I only have the one gun but I've read that it works but there can be issues if both guns are on the same hub. The only game I had to calibrate was Carnevil and since this is running from my computer I had a keyboard to hit the buttons. You could probably go into mame or RetroArch settings to change keys to do it without one. For me this build was very plug and play. Area 51 and Terminator worked without any calibration.

How's this work out with multiple monitors? My secondary monitor is my tv on the wall above my pc monitor so I'd love to be able to choose which one to use without a ton of hassle.
In this version there did not appear to be a way to switch monitors. I ended up just unplugging my second monitor to work around this problem. Not a great solution but it works.
Great Video! I started using this Batocera image and I have been trying to connect my 2 Sinden Lightguns. They seem to take awhile to connect when I first plug them in. I know the system recognizes the gun by showing the white border but the target cursor doesn't show up. Sometimes it won't recognize it until I go in and out of the controller config menu in Batocera. Once it is up and running, I played a few games and then the gun cursor stops moving altogether. Both guns are on v1.8 firmware while this is happening. Do I need to downgrade the firmware? Has this happened to anyone else? TIA

Question when my Batocera 37 build loads up the boarder I have is messed up, thin on the sides and thick white border on top and bottom..your video here shows an even white border all around
Very odd. It's worked for me after upgrading on two different computers and both wide screen and Ultrawide screens. If I find anything I'll post again.
They recommend 1.5 to 2 times the width of your screen for distance. You might be a little close but it will probably work. I have a 55 inch I sometimes use and it works well at about five feet.
It's actually only 28gb but requires 128gb because it formats the drive to that size. I just did another video on how to update to Batocera 37 and add additional games.
Keeps saying flash failed. There are 30 different img files i dont know if they are all copies? Dont really know what to do. Not much help online. I tried teknoparrot, i tried launchbox, then i had hope with this and fail. I know the lightguns are working too, tried them on steam. This sucks.
I finally fixed it by installing it to an SSD instead of a flash drive. Don't know why that was a problem but for anyone else having the failed flash issue try an SSD. It still said failed for me but it's working 100% now.
@@aaronshaferif you watch the retro lizard official video on his build you will see as he is going through the games he goes into the controller settings and makes a change to get it to start a ps1 game. He doesnt do a good job at explaining it and he does it really fast but it will show you how to make it work. You may have to watch and rewind a dozen times but he does show it on the video
To be honest my experience with Chrome books is very limited. Not sure if the app I used to burn the image to the flash drive is available there. Might need to search for an alternative.
thats such bullshit. i cant figure out how you guys are able to get these games working. ive downlaoded serveral and im pretty much sure i downloaded every damn new lightgun image and none of them work. aliens seems to be corrupted all the time. ive even got this image and sinden doesnt seem to work. i just dont know wtf im doing wrong if im following every direction that is shown and im always getting errors or nothing seems to work
Most of the PC based solutions require some setup. This is actually one of the easiest solutions I've found. There are some all in one plug and play solutions and things like Arcade1up Time Crisis can that was just announced recently.

But I really miss Light gun games and have resently come across all this stuff and honestly don't know where to start all the terms in my original comment I don't understand so I really wouldn't know where to start. I have been looking at youtube videos all day trying to find a starting point but they all seem to assume PC knowledge freely using terms I don't understand and I can't tell what is hardware and what is software totally confused. Do you know how or where a laymen could get started?
i object to 90% of the games work comment, there are a hell of a lot of issues with this build, the sports shooting USA just shoots straighbt no matter what you do, point blanks 1,2 dont work, time crisys and confidential mission to, but its hardly a complete build...... its almost as bad as wasting 256Gb downloading a CoinOps and finding it does nothing with the gun at all Ive tried PI4 builds, with average success, ironocally sports shorting USA worked there, but not properly on the batocera build Batocera works for "some" PS1 games but not others, eg. time crisis i think only #3 works, time crissi is ok house of the dead but not much else of moder fun/ Coinops have a "TheArch" build which is complely bogus in their README they act like you are already well versed in the coinops software no mention of if you need to run the sinden software in the background, just horribkle and for Windows i expected better ..... for once Linux has outdone windows in plug and play
While I haven't tried every game I've successfully played all the games you mentioned except for sport shooting which I haven't tested. On PC there are so many different hardware configurations it wouldn't surprise me if some people experience different results. I did try that Coin Ops build and was very frustrated by the amount of individual configuration required and issues which led me to Batocera. Still wish there was an official PC barebones build that you could just drop your games into.
@@ThunderBob this is exactly my frustration, it COULD be so much better and PC people should know better regarding their isntructions, its amazing that linux has more plug and play support than windows at this point with this stuff, its infuriating so yea, at this point, its unreliable as hell and its the wild west on getting this garbage working.... and dont anyone be fooled, it will not be a pleasent experiance to get a "couple" games working....
@@user-kv5lg5ky4v Yup, I tried that Coinops build and it sucks.. it needs insane amount of tweaking, and not everything works even if you do it right or reconfigure (it has every gun game there is though). I settled for this BatoLizard Build, it works, the only thing missing is a Note that says: "Update Batocera after install", so the issues with menu buttons not working resolves (was using keyboard to start games, quite annoying). This is a good starting point to add more games. For Teknoparrot and Windows 3D games just have a separate partition, and build your own from the ground up by using Hyper or LaunchBox, use these images to gather the games more easily. You can add Parrot/Windows to Batocera also, but those emulators are constantly updating. Do you still have issues?.. everything worked on first try for me.

This Image is working out of the box. Really plug and play. But I‘m missing the PS2 Libary.
This build was based on V35 and PS2 only got added in V37. I actually just updated mine and added some PS2, PS3 and Wii and it worked. I'll do a video in the next week showing how.

Rumor? I've been playing with 2 sindens, 1 gun4ir and 1 wiimote with no issue. Except model2, they are all multi-guns (when supported by the emulator)

It's going to depend on the individual game and emulator. I've got a 10700k and a 3080 and everything runs great.
I'm using a Lenovo micro pc i5 quad core, 8gb of ram and the on board video card, and it plays this great!

You change it from auto to gun. I noticed that I have to switch it back to auto then back to gun if I reboot.

You can go into the menu and change the border in the sinden menu from thin, thick, etc.
Not sure why they would be uneven though.
@@ThunderBob yeah I did that, the border does get bigger/smaller on top and bottom of screen but the sides remail a different thickness

Ps1 game extreme Ghostbusters I get stuck at press start... I press all sinden and Xbox controller buttons but nothing happens. Any tips?

Has anybody figured out how to launch the PlayStation games? I can't figure out where the start button is.

Start button is secondary and third button at the same time. This was fixed in v37. Make your own build, premade images are junks.
Which buttons are secondary and third on the gun?
@@TheOriginalVersatile pump and front left are secondary. Rear left is third button.
Can I use a chrome book to make the image and run it?

Make sure you're using the correct MAME romset and emulator version.

@@ThunderBob this is exactly my frustration,
it COULD be so much better and PC people should know better regarding their isntructions, its amazing that linux has more plug and play support than windows at this point with this stuff,
its infuriating so yea, at this point, its unreliable as hell and its the wild west on getting this garbage working....
and dont anyone be fooled, it will not be a pleasent experiance to get a "couple" games working....
@@user-kv5lg5ky4v Yup, I tried that Coinops build and it sucks.. it needs insane amount of tweaking, and not everything works even if you do it right or reconfigure (it has every gun game there is though). I settled for this BatoLizard Build, it works, the only thing missing is a Note that says: "Update Batocera after install", so the issues with menu buttons not working resolves (was using keyboard to start games, quite annoying). This is a good starting point to add more games. For Teknoparrot and Windows 3D games just have a separate partition, and build your own from the ground up by using Hyper or LaunchBox, use these images to gather the games more easily. You can add Parrot/Windows to Batocera also, but those emulators are constantly updating. Do you still have issues?.. everything worked on first try for me.
