    the foreshadowing in this series is just crazy, you remember Eren saying "was i here before?" when he was captured in the cave? Do you remember Kruger saying "if you want to save armin, Mikasa and everyone" and immediatly questioned it after that? Yes that was Erens doing, he showed everyone what they had to see in order for him to get to his goal

    The thing is…Eren didn’t even do a 180 in character . We did; we saw the villain origin story with the mindset that Eren was the hero, and we saw him grow into the villain.
    Actually crazy 😭
    Edit: I said “villain” for the meme, but tbh now the trick is to not view him as either villain or hero. This story’s core is that he’s a person, a human being, capable of both manifesting cruelty and beauty.

  • @reuel7
    @reuel7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +75

    The whole conversation in the beginning about Zeke and how he 'snitched' was poorly debated.
    I'm more leaning towards the side of the two guys defending Zeke's actions. Zeke is a kid, and yes, he was raised by his family; but he didn't have a good relationship with them. He comes home every night and doesn't get to have fun and have a 'normal' family, instead he got drilled knowledge about Eldia's history and what Grisha/Dina believe was "correct". Outside of his house and family, the reality outside and society was anti-Eldia, with everyone discriminating against their specific race. On top of this, Zeke also had to deal with parental pressure to be the golden child and to 'save the world', due to the fact that he has royal blood.
    This type of pressure and conflict of who's right and who's wrong can seriously break a kid mentally. The final breaking point was the Marley government finding out about Grisha's group, the Eldian Restorationists and that they had a lead. Zeke tried to convince them to stop their actions, but they ended up getting angry at Zeke. He saw Tom Ksavar as his actual parental figure over Grisha because Ksaver actually cared about him and did activities. All in all, if Zeke didn't tell the government about his parents, he too would be killed. It's a lot of mental toll to put on a kid and it's understandable why Zeke did what he did as a child.

    So in order to avoid any confusion regarding the time travel mechanics, I will break down what type of Time travel we're dealing with here.
    AOT operates by a particular type of time travel where it's almost impossible to change the past even if you somehow go back in time. And any change that you tried to cause was always meant to happen in the overall timeline. Here time is a fixed circle, not a stream. We may see Eren meddle in the past but that was always meant to happen. This calls into the question of the existence of free will in the world of Attack of Titan.
    The Attack Titan's ability is to receive the memories of its future inheritors. This was hinted when Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin towards the end of S3. Keep in mind, they can only view these memories but can't interact with them. So how was Eren able to meddle in the past?
    Well, he had 3 perfect conditions:
    1) He had the ability of the Attack Titan
    2) The ability of the Founding Titan
    3) He was also in contact with someone with royal blood AKA Zeke.
    After Zeke tapped Eren's head, they were able to view Grisha's past memories with Eren using the power of the coordinate. They were freely able to view the past as if it were through a one way mirror.
    Now if Eren had any other Titan other than the Attack Titan, he would only be able to look. But since Attack Titan can see forward in time, Grisha can use this to see Eren's recollection of the same event that he's currently experiencing in real time.
    So this mean that whenever Grisha can see or hear Eren, he's actually recieving a brief future memory from Eren's POV where he can see out of his eyes and hear his words. That means he is seeing himself from a 3rd perspective. Then if he responds, his response is simply part of the memory that Eren/Zeke are viewing, allowing for a two way communication through time.
    Also Note that everytime, Grisha sees Zeke, Eren is always standing behind his dad. So whenever Grisha sees Zeke, it is from actually due to the memories from Eren's POV

    • @Phantom_Nerds
      @Phantom_Nerds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Thanks for the explanation

    • @SentinalSlice
      @SentinalSlice 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Couldn’t it be a blend of the memories of every eldian in the area? Like if Grisha saw a mix of Frieda’s perspective and Eren’s? That could explain how he sees Eren when he looks back.
      Actually wait, it can’t nevermind, I forgot that Freida can’t see Eren.
      Although, Eren probably has a full 360 view of that memory, because he could look from Frieda’s perspective and his dads.

    So, there is this theory that has yet to be confirmed but, in the manga and anime, they say that the king used the power of the Founding Titan to erase the memories of the people of Eldia.
    Which implies that the Founding Titan can control memories. In which case, there is the possibility that Eren, the holder of the Founding and Attack Titan, can SELECTIVELY send memories to the other Attack Titans. He can control what they see using the Founding Titan. And the other Attack Titans see it. That's how Eren can show Grisha that the wall collapses, but doesn't show him that Carla dies.

  • @TheoVorster
    @TheoVorster 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    A couple of points of clarification that are important to remember, the First King of the Wall’s Will and Pact of Non-Aggression didn’t always constrain the royal family members who possessed the Founding Titan. Said pact/will was only relatively recently made a 100+ years ago when the Walls of Paradis were first created. Before that there was no Pact limiting the Founding Titan, whereas the Attack Titan has always had the power of seeing the memories of its future holders, and Grisha is speculating that the point of that trait was to act as a counter balance to the Founding Titan in general and to lead up to the defiance of the First King of the Wall’s will.
    Also if it wasn’t clear from the visuals, this episode indicated that Eren in the final episode of Season 3 (episode 59), the moment when he was kissing Historia’s hand (during the ceremony commending the Scouts’ success of retaking Shiganshina), was the exact moment when he unlocked more of his father’s memories, specifically the ones in this very episode where he saw Grisha being egged on/told by Eren’s future self to kill the Reiss family and steal the Founding Titan. Hence why he had such a disturbed expression after kissing Historia’s hand.

    The only way to understand it is that time isn't linear. Everything is happening simultaneously. For all of Eren's existence, once he gained and learned about his Titan abilities, he's been shielding and only allowing select memories to be accessed by past Attack Titans. That's the only way to explain why no one prior could know what to come of the Eren and the future. It's why his father couldn't see what happens to his wife. That's why he told his father to turn him into a titan and sacrifice himself. Eren is diabolical!

    Yeah I'm supporting Eren on this one. Zeke and the royals really think punishing the son for the fathers crime until they're all genocided is a good idea, as if theres any moral justification for that.
    It's like if german leaders just suddenly decide to kill all their people out of shame for their militarily dominant history, like (sorry for taking on the whole world twice and almost winning). Thats weak. Zeke and the royals are like those white americans who try to be as woke as possible because they have so much white guilt for winning too many wars lmao. Wouldn't surprise me if thats what the writer of this show based it on since the japanese have a similar thing going on since they're ashamed of Imperial Japan who militarily dominated Asia. The people who live right now had nothing to do with that so why would they be punished for it. Thats the Jaegerist truth.

    Yet I think Eren's true feelings will be revealed once we get a monologue or a flashback solely about HIM and him only.
    One of these episodes will give us that for sure.
    For now he's filling the shoes of a villain but deep down I know hes doing it for his friends (definetely for Armin and Mikasa but I don't know about the others)

    In season 1, one of the characters made a joke about how humans used to fight each other because they looked different from one another (racism) compared to how now there is no such thing since they are a race of humans who have to fight titans.

    Attack on Titian is better than demon slayer to me main reason because of the quality of the show. Demon Slayer is good and entertaining but Attack on Titian is entertaining and makes you think deeply almost every episode that’s why all had more to talk on this today than Demon Slayer.
    Also Attack on Titian story line is more thought out not simple as Demon Slayer. I feel like old skool anime folks will like Attack on Titian more.
    The newer generation anime watcher like Demon Slayer more because it’s easy to understand and straight to the point.

  • @skmply197

    the vow the king has on the royal family is what pissed eren off because of the "countless bloodshed" of titans killing eldians that would never end. The curse of Ymir and her backstory is crazy in terms on how it affects the future ever since she died and no its true if a titan holder dies after 13 years the titan will be passed to a random eldian and the cycle continues on.

    I guess now the reason why Eren did not mourn about Saschas death is, because he have already known that she will being killed, which honestly concerns me about Armins and Mikasas future. I mean Erens cold behaviour towards them could also mean that he knows that they will be safe at all, so he does not actually care acting so rough with them in the present, but I'm really worried that he might just being prepeared for everyones death in order to fulfill the future he maybe already has been seen. Especially after seeing how he's acting with his father (although this probably had to be done, because he can't change the future).

    • @personal6182
      @personal6182 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually he did mourn Sasha’s death. It’s been hinted at twice as I can recall in the show, but Eren under like max stress or guilt has been seen to laugh and then start getting sad seconds later, and this happens when Hans died and Eren couldn’t stop it from happening after all his training, and when Sasha died. He started laughing then immediately stopped and his face showed him clearly being in distress.

    • @zepheyrbeat8036
      @zepheyrbeat8036 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@personal6182 Of course he was not happy about Saschas death, maybe "mourn" was the wrong word to describe what I meant, but to see Eren acting such depressed and cold since the time skip, tells me that might have known or seen something we do not know yet, maybe it also happend when Eren kissed Historias hand (where he defenitly saw something).

    Why y’all having a whole discussion about why Zeke snitched when it’s all explained already? His father was basically more dedicated to the mission than to caring for his son. One dag Zeke overheard Marley officers talking about closing in on the Eldian restorationists. Ksaver then conviced him to snitch because that would at least save him and his grandparents. There was no other choice. Ksaver was more of a father figure to him than Grisha so of course he listened to him.

    "ZEKE AN OP! He T.R.A.S.H What kind of child choose the GOVERNMENT over their MOM and DAD!"
    *Itachi Uchiha:* ...
    Okay so I do think that its basically the same situation (one clan of ppl that are op but everyone hates and is highly oppressed by their government, choose to revolt and the git done in by one if there own becoz of said gov) therefore and I Jugde Itachi HEAVY for that BUT heres where Itachi vs Zeke is different and why I dont HATE Itachi vs still lowkey think Zeke is trash- Itachi was being used to by both sides and was in way too deep, he was also pressured by both into only 2 options but either way ends in War and bloodshed, BUT the corrupt Gov coerced Itachi into thinking that option Uchiha was the greater evil, and made a deal with him guaranteeing his brothers safety , also His best friend Shisui died bc of Danzo so he knows Danxo might try and kill Sasuke specifically, so with Itachi the ops cornered him, could he have still chosen differently, yes, might the Uchiha win, with him more than likely but HOW and at what cost? Fugakus plan was a bloodless coup de tat but realistically that's just not gonna happen, its practically impossible for war not to happen, and Fukagu was stupid to think he could, basically team Uchiha was an uncertain victory, Danzos "solution" (spits on his grave) was a sure thing so Itachi choose the definite outcome over the _maybe_
    Zeke however is just a snitch. Yes hes parents pressured him and neglected him blah blah blah and yes they put him in as a Warrior, But is that really enough to condemn your parents to banishment and death? To become MONSTERS? HELL NO. Let's remember ZEKE approached the ops first not the other way around! If he said nothing then nothing wouldve happened, and heres the thing Zeke believes Marely is RIGHT hes has internalized his racism to the CORE his basically Uncle Rucus (remember he ENJOYED killing all the scouts and felt nothing about turning a whole town and a city into titans both Paradi citizens and Marely eldians and his euthanasia plan) DESPITE he parents being freedom fighters, but what made it worse is he didn't do it bc of propoganda/brainwashing no ge did it bc he hated his parents, he dis ot out of spite, bc he choose the previous best titan as his father as said F U to his actual parents, Zeke CHOOSES to snitch and side with the gov, given the option he kills every single eldian everytime, whereas Itachi if he has LITERALLY any other choice (or at the time could see any other) he would kill his family, hed save them

The boy was just saying his final Goodbye to Xavier then Xavier pointed out that "Hey instead of your whole family being sent to Paradise why don't you safe yourself and your grandparents at least, Marley will trust in you even more n you minimize the damage because it's coming either way".
