Have you ever wondered why your tone is much higher when you speak in mandarin, vs a much lower tone when speaking in English? I do that too, and have never figured out why this happens

I love how you’ve immersed yourself in your Chinese culture - it really shows through the food you eat☺️ I just feel ashamed because I’m Chinese too and I live in a Southeast Asian country - but I never really took the time to appreciate my mother tongue and its culture. You’ve really inspired me to learn more about my roots☺️🙏🏼❤️
As a fellow Southeast Asian with Indonesian/Indian/Egyptian/Dutch background, I used to be ashamed of my culture too. But I have been slowly learning and I have come to love ethnic background as I grow up and I hope you can be like that too
same. south-east asian chinese here too. what more my parents are mainland Chinese immigrants, so i should be more immersed in the culture. but i didn’t appreciate the language or the culture, and i squandered a good opportunity growing up :( leah has really inspired me to get in touch with my Chinese heritage again, and i’m sure as hell going to get my accent back (disappeared after years of lazy pronunciation and speaking english) and take my mandarin abilities to new heights! here’s to fluent chinese and a greater connection and pride to my roots 😚
Same here ❤️ I regret not speaking the language fluently. Each time I try to get back to it, I end up giving up... maybe I should start watching/translating vegan cooking videos to motivate myself haha ☺️
same 😥i'm Malaysian Chinese and didn't appreciate it growing up because, quite frankly, i didn't want it thanks to White normativity. but it wasn't until i moved to the US for college that i really started to appreciate and be proud of my heritage. i have lost a lot of my Chinese language skills but am now determined to rebuild it 🥺i feel like the experience and culture of being Southeast Asian Chinese is so special - i love that we have our little branch out of the larger Chinese culture

Vegan Asian food is the best food there is, the number of variations of tofu, bean curd, gluten, seitan, etc is truly astounding and all of them are delicious. Celebrating my second vegan holiday season with my Asian family has been amazing 🌱

sorry for saying this.. but in Canada we are in middle of a pandemic, gathering is NOT allowed. i know in asian culture, it is important to reunite during festivities, but now maintain a social distance is the PRIORITY. i don't know why you are uploading this video tbh, i thought you are a more thoughtful person. Especially when you have an elderly at home, for her safety, you shouldn't have guests over. i m just hoping you can rethink about the content of this video. sincerely.

Love you, the food looks DELICIOUS🥴I’ve had a severe dairy allergy all my life and I’ve been buying mostly seafood and occasional white meat for a while in efforts to live a cleaner and carbon friendly lifestyle, and this channel is super awesome for me, there is amazing food that doesn’t need animal products!

I took 3 years of Chinese in school but I’ve forgotten a lot of it 🥺 I stopped learning it when I went to school in Korea to learn Korean, but watching this makes me recall chinese words I forgot and inspired me to practice again!

Leah, finding your channel in 2020 was such a gift for me. I'm Chinese and grew up in a part of Canada where it was really hard to come by other Chinese immigrant kids to relate to, so I really distanced myself from that part of me because being Chinese was something that made me feel weird and too different from my peers. As an adult I've come to appreciate so many parts of my identity and finding your channel has helped me with that so much in unearthing the things I found so cool but never fully explored. Seeing you enjoy all of these foods that I used to and still eat every day is so heartwarming. I appreciate your content so much and wish you the best that 2021 has to offer 💖
Leah has influenced me in the same way! Finding her channel was so nice since I didn’t grow up with Chinese friends and lived in a small town in the US. I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels this way about her videos!

I love persimmons too! But it made me surprise how you eat it when it is still underrip like still it is hard(?), we eat persimmons when they are ripe and very soft. It is so delicious in either way tho just ripe version doesn't leave that numb feeling in your mouth hehe ALSO HAPPY NEW YEAAAAAR!!! My family usually steam the fresh tofu for a few minutes (to make it extra hot) and eat it with sweet soy sauce that has minced chili peppers in it😋
