I’m a new grad who went to the OR. I was stuck between L&D & OR & chose OR because as a new grad, that opportunity doesn’t come around often. I’m looking into switching to L&D. To me, I’m not passionate about the OR. I like it for sure but there’s no passion.
Hi Lexsis, follow your heart and gut feeling! I strongly advocate for nurses to do as they want and that's the beauty of nursing.. we control our career!! I started in the OR, loved it but was uncertain if I was missing out by not doing a bedside job, went to L&D, didn't like it at all, and now I'm back in the OR on week #2 at a new OR job! Follow your gut it always leads you in the right direction. Hope it all goes well :)
As a nursing student graduating in may and I have two job offers. OR nursing and an intermediate cardiac position. Which do you think would be better for me considering I want to eventually go to nicu or l and d? I’m just so torn
Hi Maya! First of all congratulations on graduating nursing school!! Which one did you end up taking? Very curious to hear your journey so far and if you're liking it! I would say if you want NICU/L&D probably intermediate cardiac since you'd learn a lot of nursing skills/meds. But OR is a great choice to learning how to scrub and circulate comes in handy with L&D!! Best of luck! :)
I seen your hint about returning to OR. Can you please post...waiting impatiently lol 😜
Hi Roxanne!! Officially back in the OR! Yes posting the update video VERY soon!! :)
