    Stellar performance by Fender! Well thought out and beautiful builds. Also nice to see the pricing is based on complexity not an across the board price. Just goes to show why fender continues to do well as a company.

    I have the Pugilist: love the sounds. The distortion sounds have that refinement to them. I used to use the Digitech Legend 2 rackmount. Interesting it has that same Gold textured outer. Reminds me of those days.…Which were awesome times… good to be able to relive!

    I bought the Pugilist around Christmas, and have to say its amazing value. I had a Diamond Cornerstone which I loved, but this blows it out the water. Amazing price too here in Canada. Highly recommended. Love the design/lights/flip battery etc etc, but the key is the versatility of sound. Respect is due.

    I like the idea that it is unified look to a complete set of pedals and you know they all work together. I can imagine starting out with a strat and then just collecting the pedals until I had the set. It's kinda like a multi effects processor except you can buy it in parts and have access to the controls without all that menu faff.

    This is by far and away one of the best TH-cam reviews I have ever seen. Beyond the useful content and knowledgeable review itself, your vocal audio and guitar audio are remarkably good, the video is well done, too. Thank you for taking the time and effort to produce such a well-done piece. I also liked your relaxed presentation and conversational delivery. I was a radio producer and production director in a former life and pretty much know the good stuff when I see it. Very nicely done.

    Over two years later and these pedals are still relevant. Now I'd be interested on their take on modulation. Never thought I'd care for any pedal Fender ever produced but these are well done. The verb and delay actually competes w/ the "big boys" on the market.

    When I first heard Fender was doing a line of new pedals, I was skeptical. Then I saw all the videos from NAMM and how well thought out they were. Then I heard the price point. Now I can't wait to try them out! With so many pedals on the market, it's a one stop shop to set up great pedal board without going crazy.

    I just got the Santa Ana & Pugilist today and I'm extremely pleased. Your demo (and many others) help seal the deal for me. I've been through pretty much every distortion and overdrive out there and always found something lacking in each one at every price point. Yes, there are a million similar products out there but it's all in the sound each produces and how it relates to your own taste. These Fender pedals have the sound I've been hearing in my head for ages. I don't care what they look like or how large or blah, blah, blah, I just know they work for me. Well made, well conceived, I feel like I made the right decision. Only complaints are that they didn't come with a battery, the LED brightness varies from pedal to pedal and, for $200, I wish the boost on the Santa Ana worked independently from the gain stages. I think these will be around for a while and folks should at least try them out.

    I bought th Pugilist about a month ago. I run it in series with the A gain around 11 o'clock, and the B gain at 2 o'clock. Using a Boss compressor in front. It's awesome. what makes you say that?

    • @brianrollins7275
      @brianrollins7275 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah pretty cool dry kill switch but you can still get ambient sounds without it. Hall in variation 1 mode with level and reverb time all the way up is one way. And special mode on variation 1 or 2 with level and reverb time cranked gets you ambience. I have the marine layer reverb and just got the bends compressor and I am impressed with both of them. The pugilist is next on my list. And I’m just playing these through a Boss Katana 100 MK2 amplifier and to my ears it sounds great. These pedals along with my Boss DM-2w, MXR Analog Chorus and CBM95 cry baby mini are working out great for me and the sounds I’m chasing. Can’t wait to add the Pugilist to my setup.

    Phiilip I'm a subscriber but this is an old video so I'm not sure you'll see it but I'm just getting into guitar pedals and its overwhelming. I am looking to get the Santa Ana but here you said the option to use the boost function as a volume boost or gain boost is only footswitchable but I don't own a footswitch and yet others have said the option is simply a switch on the top of the pedal so I'm a little confused. Also I purchased the Fender Engager pedal which is a clean boost pedal so in that respect I'd have no reason to set the Santa Ana's boost function as a level boost is that correct?

  • @mikecorey8370
    @mikecorey8370 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've got the pugilist and the delay. It akes time to getr them diled in. They tend to work differently with different amps. On the pugilist, find your sweet spot (it will take some time because of the 2 stages) and don't adjust much after that. Once you find it, don't mess with it too much. The delay takes some getting used to. I found it works much better with my amp (Fender Mustrang 4 V2) by going into the front instead of the loop. Again, once you find the sweet spot with your amp, leave it alone.
