    Awesome review & overview. Best one I've seen for this pedal.

      If you don’t, you should ! Especially is you’re playing different styles. Have a look rhett shull’s video about stacking overdrives, it’s a great starting point.

    Sound awesome. This circuit should be put used to replace the drive in the Hot Rod series.

      Hot rod series amps need to be played loud. The louder, the better the sound is. Try “all knobs” at noon and go from that.

    The center LED got too big and strong at this Fender pedal's. Nice sounds by the way.

    As usual, great, informative video. I'm curious about the guitar you're playing. Could you tell us a bit about it? Or do you have a video on it?

    soo glad I didnt buy the Jeff Beck Strat, the roller nut really changes the tone from woody to metallic..., very nice pedal though, still 50/50 about buying it...

    Hello...planning on buying this..but can i ask if it can be stacked with mxr super badass distortion..and be used as a boost?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Felix. It could be used for those applications. With the gain down and the volume up, you could use it to drive another pedal or amp. That being said, the pedal is meant to be very amp-like and lends itself more as a standalone drive, so boosting isn't necessarily it's strength. Depending on the sound you're after, there are probably pedals that would do a better job for that. I would suggest giving your Sales Engineer a call and they'll be able to discuss the best options for your situation.

    looking to get one of these and I have a very specific question, This as stated has a boost function that can be used on either the overall level or the gain BUT you cannot use the boost on both at the same time correct? I have the Fender Engager pedal which is a dedicated clean boost pedal however lets say I didn't have it and just had this. The level can be boosted so it acts as a clean booster correct? Does this Santa Ana make the Engager just a waste of pedal space with its own boost function? Are there any ways using both the Engager and Santa Ana together could be beneficial or is it all just redundant? I hope this makes sense I'm very new to pedals and just got the Engager but now I see this and to me it sounds like it makes the Engager pointless. I'm naive admittedly but its also great to hear this thru the amp I have.

      You can use both. If you put the clean boost before the Santa Ana in the signal chain it will act as a gain boost (similar to the Santa Ana boost on gain mode). Likewise if you put the clean boost after the Santa Ana it will continue to act as clean boost. So to use them together either (1) have the Santa on clean boost mode, and put the egnator before the Santa for a gain boost or (2) have the Santa Ana on gain boost mode and put the egnator after the santa for your clean boost. Hope that helps.

    When u turn the internal trimpot all the way up, how much extra db does the level boost give you then?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, Matthew! Great question and thanks for your interest. It’s +10dB max when that’s turned all the way up. I hope this helps! Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

      Sorry, I just thought of one more question. So that internal trimpot all the maxed out will give a 10db boost on top of what is the original boost/drive before engaging the extra level/drive boost? Does that make sense?

    Great video! How would you classify Fender Santa Ana Overdrive? And does it stack well with Boss Blues Driver BD2 & Ibanez Mini Tube Screamer TSMini? Signal chain- Empress Buffer+ -> TS Mini-> BD2 -> Santa Ana.

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Shashank. It's a very versatile drive pedal that can do a small amount of grit to cranked amp crunch sounds. It stacks great with other pedals but it also has it's own boost so you might find that it even replaces a pedal in your setup.

    Why do these reviews so rarely show how it sound with humbuckers, or vice versa? Would make the video much more helpful for a lot of people.

    • @gunkanjima3408
      @gunkanjima3408 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a Fender pedal. Fender amps are clean and Fender guitars are known for their single coils

    • @paddyfalco8497
      @paddyfalco8497 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gunkanjima true, but it would only benefit the video if they were to throw a HSS strat in the mix, hell, it might even make more sales of the pedal if people with humbucker guitars knew what it could do for them :)
