Kev the EAT14 definitely not even close to the best dirt cheap Rc car, the cogging issue aside the EAT14 is not very strong either, so I did the unboxing video then gave the buggy to my little girl to do the test run part of that video, well unfortunately about 1O minutes into it’s first ever run, she stuffed it into one of the only curbs in the car park and it totally destroyed the buggy, smashed diff case, bummer, battery, receiver, main drive shaft, maybe a motor but luckily I caught it all on camera lol, it’s my latest video I uploaded, my little girl was gutted but these things a happen doesn’t it mate.. 😂

Same here..though I read in a rccar action thread somewhere 2 big rc companies are looking at purchasing wltoys for their budget line with some improvements planned. Who i dunno but if I could take a guess maybe traxxas is one. The other no clue.

I think it may be the esc as I had the same in another car and ilsow had delay caging and overheated badly to the point that it set on fire onse

I'm sure it's that brushless motor in these. Maybe try replacing it with a different brand brushless motor?? Would this stop clogging???

Why make parts for the wltoys but not the arrma granite blx v3?? Wahh!! I have had the wltoys 14401 which I've been trying to by parts besides the crappy alum which have terrible fit.

You can get the cheapie programming cards for em and adjust the "punch" setting up to like 7 or 8 to "fix" that lag issue. Some of the cheap ESCs (hobbyfang, looking at you) seem to do that, even up to like 60 amps, even with a very mild gearing. 3s helps of course, but its better to get the settings happy cuz it'll work better both ways.

Pro tip, never plug a cheap Chinese usb charger into your pc. They have been known to contain malware! Check they only have two pins (power only) on the connector first at least.

The power of data wire. In the plus side because they want the malware on your computer most are data wire. Saved my ass the other day,. I needed a data wire for beta flight.. my usb off a stick China charger worked :)

I had the same cogging issues with these new wltoys brushless buggy's when I reviewed em, the 124016 is even worse, has hardly any range at all before it cuts out. The 124017 got to 94kph on 3s easy out the box using dumbo RC tx though👍
Did you have a way of fixing the cogging?
@@brettblackshaw6582last week I made a video on adjusting the settings on the stock esc with a programming card to help reduce the cogging, it seemed to work better on the 124017 than the heavier 124016 desert buggy. These cars are geared too high for the small 2845 motor, they should've brought them out with a 3650 size instead IMO.
Will have to watch the video later. I just purchased an eachine eat14 so would be good to know how to fix it if it has the cogging issues as well

I bought this RC, and I can't wait to receive it tomorrow, and this video can show me what the RC actually looks like, and the speed. In short, this video is a masterpiece and the solidity .
I think it was one of these I found the shock towers were completely bent right going forward and left going back the links and pins were bent 180degrees the diffs were shot tyres blown chassis bent everything destroyed still ran 1wd

I belive the stuttering issue has to do with the esc's program parameters, you could probably get a programming card and increase the punch setting
That and it's sensorless
Kev you have to review the RAZ-R BL rtr truggy
they cog because they are way overgeared, with a smaller pinion there wouldnt be a delay

I just received my 124017. Love it but trying to figure out the best way to eliminate cogging. Do I get a bigger motor? Do I get a better esc? Do I change the gearing? Or do I just reprogram the esc, though it won’t eliminate cogging but reduce it.
gear down and esc change will help loads

The spur gear of the wltoys a959 17t. Modify the motor mount.
You should get the Octane XL it’s really fun when you put a bigger battery in and you can get a faster motor in it
You gotta try the ECX Temper Gen 2 Crawler. It's cheap and it's pretty awesome.

there has to be a way to select a different punch setting in the ESC.. or maybe lower the pinion gear. ive seen others do that when pinion is too big

It's obvious that all three were made in the same factory somewhere in China. Still you can't get a better Buggy for the money. I had a WL Toys and gave it away to a kid that only drove it once and now it sits in his basement somewhere. Seeing this I wish I still had it. Spares are dirtcheap and they're very robust.

Tomley RC said the same about the pickup when using the throttle.
In the arch of the controller, their is an antenna that you can stick out for more distance.
I like the wltoys rc cars..its just the biggest issue I have with them and what seems to be everyone's biggest issue is they don't grease their diffs enough.

Hey kev, what would i need to do to fix the cogging issue? I have a similar setup since i turned my 144001 into brushless with an ocday 60a esc and 4370k motor and im having the same cogging issue and i do want to run it on grass mostly. It's great when it gets going but if im in thicker grass areas in the park, i have to nudge it or else it won't go :/ (even on 3s)
Please make a video on how you would fix this for as cheap as possible. Maybe a lower kv motor? 120a esc? Last thing I'd want is to spend the car worth on a sensored system.

You could try a smaller gearing, could solve it.
You have to purchase a programming card. I have the exact same system and mine came included. Just change the start mode to 7 or 8 and it's fixed!

My EAT14 has the same cogging issue as everyone else, but I bought an ESC programming card, (and a different 3S ESC). Crossing fingers!

I had similar issues with my car witch used an esc that looked tough the same I fixed it by playing with the level setting on the programming card wich determines the energy the motor gets when starting to drive till it worked
Chuck a quic run sensored motor & esc in it if you don't mind spending 80 quid on one
