i get the cheapos for my jack russell he loves to tare into them got a wltoy 144001 havent left him case it yet hope that it is faster them him.
For the money it's actually a really good entry level RC! 🙋👍

The cheapo actually uses the exact same chassis as the HBX 2995. I have two and they are super good looking and tough as nails. Upgraded one to brushless and a year later it's going strong!

Those 1/16th guys are a lot of fun. Go brushless and they’re capable of 30+ mph.
The cheap on is a good beginner for someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot!!!

The V2 seems to handle very well Try the Revo tires on it Kev It will get a bit more air control and stability around corners

Hey kev, have you considered testing out the ftx dr8? It would be interesting to see what you make of it.
Kev, do you check the preload on the Traxxas trucks before you bash? Sometimes they ship with too much slack and simply tightening the slop out until the spring doesn't rattle when the suspension is unloaded can reduce chassis slap considerably.
The cheap one with a brushless motor might be fun
You should try upgrading that cheapo RC car I think it has a bit of potential.
We upgraded a couple of the similar 1/16th Redcat cars to brushless on 2S...needless to say, being slow is no longer a problem lol
Doesn't it just fall apart? I had a 1/16th brushless revo the thing was veryfast on 2s and just constantly breaks... diffs/drive shafts and everything in between. These cheapos actually don't seem half bad.
@@sicklad3277 I have one two just got the diff replaced and two days later the wishbone cracked and the suspension arm popped out of socket
@@javiertrevino2808 RPM replacement parts are much much better then factory and will make it way more durable, aluminium bulk heads and shimming the diffs are a must or another option is a centre diff but they aren’t as fun, they are great when they are modded and the little things that break are addressed

With all of the videos I've watched it would be awesome to have a G meter in the cars to see how much Gs they sustain.

Hey kev I just bought some 3.8 bandito MTs for my maxx v2 and i noticed it was overheating the stock gearing is 23T pinion 50T spur what would you recommend I gear down too I couldn’t find anything online to help me so I was hoping you would have the answers I’m looking for

While the cheapo car is a bit crap and slow 😂 looks like it would be great for the kids to get into the hobby 👌 rather than them smashing up a maxx etc. It actually jumped quite well and took the landing 👌

I got the Maxx with all vitavon and treal parts and metal chassis braces and metal drive shafts upgrading it to a castle 8s with a 1520 motor things a tank as is but a hobbywing max8 is to weak to power it. Was also wondering if you've ever tryed the fid racing volts 1/5 scale and what your thoughts are on it.

Kev, one dirt cheep truck I’ve been wanting you to review is the arrma granite voltage 2wd monster truck. I know you don’t care much for 2wd but a 1/10 scale truck from a name brand for under $100 is hard to look past.
Also would love your opinion on the 4wheel steer Axial Capra crawler.

Cheapo ESC and brushless combo in that lil cheap truck (rebranded hbx 901a by the looks of it) and I'm sure it will be a different animal!
the cheapo rc are fun to play with if you break one it doesn't hurt as much. i also found that some of the parts are pretty cheap. have you ever reviewed or got a Redcat? been looking at some of them and seem pretty cool not sure if they are as good as a traxxas or arrma but seems to be fast as well. awesome video.
I bought my 7 year-old the Gen 8 V2 Crawler from Redcat and it's awesome. It climbs everything my Traxxas TRX-4 climbs without hesitation. Redcat also has a bunch of 3d printer files for their stuff listed on their website, I'm really impressed with them.

@@rothamfarm1682 was a couple hundred dollars less than my Traxxas. I'm honestly surprised with how well built it is for the price I paid. My son hasn't been able to destroy it yet either. I did a lot of research before I bought it and it was the consensus best bargain for a 1/10th rock crawler.

I've got one of these and for the money it's quite good. And yes it's fully ball raced with an all metal transmission and centre diff. It's also reasonably waterproof. I've given it some right abuse and so far nothing has dropped off! 👍🙋😊

The cheap one is actually pretty damn good. I have smaller one to that and it has taken a great beating these past three months and nothing has broken. Only thing that happened was that i stripped the spur gear which they really are metal.

@@Chris_Harris the pinion and the spur are a ferrous metal of some description. Not aluminium or brass. 👍
@@Chris_Harris it might be cheap aluminum casting i believe but the worst part was that there was no grease in there which leads me to think that the gear got hot and kind of shredded a litte bit but also kind of looks melty. Im going to throw a new gear in there and fill the case with grease and see if that works. Unfortunately there are no aftermarket upgrades for these yet that i know of
Really good car for the price, just a bit on the slow side, would be perfect for beginners though
I would say the little one is on par with Arrma 2s brushed motor granite that costs twice as much.
