It looks like its counterpart, the Daihatsu Feroza (Rocky in other places). I used drive one in college although I remember it had a 4cylinder gasoline engine not a turbo diesel. So cool to see! I remember driving it through floods. So rugged.
Well, they're the same thing
this looks like the big brother to a Suzuki samurai/jimny
Funny because it's actually a Daihatsu Rugger in drag
Cartoons bronco 2
It's so cute! It looks just like a mini version of a RHD Land Cruiser Prado EX5 Turbo!
Toyota's connection with Diahatsu always interested me.
Oh my god... my grandpa had one of those. Although it wasn't toyota it was daihatsu feroza which is essentially the same car although only came with 2wd. All the memories were just rushing through my mind when i see this. The one my grandpa drove has a two tone color with red at the top and white at the bottom just like our indonesian flag. This wasn't a very good nor capable car of its times yet this has so much memory that made this car special in my heart. I miss my grandpa, rest his soul.. my god put him on his side in heavenly kingdom.
Yo this was my car. I owned it. This exact one. So happy to see it fixed up and on the road.
DO YOU RECOMMEND IT?
This mini 4X4 Blizzard/ Rocky can serve as a preview for the upcoming Land Cruiser FJ. 😁
There was another version of the Daihatsu Rocky (or feroza). It was called Bertone Freeclimber and it came with bmw engines (diesel and petrol versions).
Yes, the body of a Daihatsu Rocky, then the smaller Feroza (for the Freeclimber II), built in Bertone's factory in Italy, with a BMW engine and a specific front grill
3:58 when I was younger my family used to have a 1991 daihastu Feroza in Grenada and they had it for a short period of time and watching this blizzard video the only nostalgic thing I sense is the the altimeter, clock and the voltage thingy and the exterior of the car
10:07 I don’t know about the Toyota rebadged version of the feroza named the bizzard and in the Caribbean they are pretty much common, like I said I grew up with a 91’ rocky/feroza for a short period of time
Toyata G wagon go brrrrrrrr
Had only heard of the Blizzard, but now I feel I have a more intimate knowledge of that little beaut. Enjoyed the live stream tonight. Keep it up!
Now I'm off to checkout the eye candy at Inbound Motorsports+
Super cool little car, its the rav4’s grandpappy
Wow, didn’t even this car even existed, learn something new everyday.
Saw it in West Africa as a Diahatsu, but never knew of this rebadged version
Great vid! Toyota also ended up rebadging the Pontiac Vibe as the Toyota Voltz as well as the Chevy Cavalier as the... Toyota Cavalier.
You shouldve mentioned the Bertone Freeclimber, it was a version of the Rocky only sold in Italy with BMW engines and a custim body
Never heard of em. But love the looks. Nice. ❤
Mud flap with hole for tailpipe=epic jdm win!
Never seen one of these and I've been all over the world... To the owner... Cherish it
I've never heard of this thing ever. Those seats remind me of the Grand National.
Ok, this may be a little confusing but hear me out ... this particular vehicle you have here, is the larger F70/F80 series Daihatsu Rugger (LD10 Toyota Blizzard), which was also called a Daihatsu Rocky, Daihatsu Fourtrak (UK) or a Daihatsu Taft.
The US never actually got this vehicle, you guys received the smaller F300 series Daihatsu Feroza (Daihatsu Sportrak in the UK) where it was badged as the Daihatsu Rocky for the US market. It was also called the Rocky in Japan.
Here in Australia we got both, the smaller Daihatsu Feroza (F300) and the larger Daihatsu Rocky (F70/F80). The Toyota badged version was never sold here either. Daihatsu last sold vehicles in Australia in 2006, some 40 years after first setting up it's operations here.
There is actually a new Daihatsu Rocky these days, but it's nothing like the original, it's a small crossover now. There is a Toyota badged version too, the Toyota Raize and also a Subaru badged version, called the Subaru Rex. In Malaysia it's known as the Perodua Ativa!
This is an LD21 Blizzard LD10 is first gen. But you are correct is is not the exact same vehicle as a US Rocky.
Rad would be a good word for this little rig 💙
There’s one of these for sale near me cool to see a video on it
looks like the 70 series :D little off roader.
big respect for driving a manual with the wheel on the other side.
I ride the exact same vehicle in Japan. Although the vehicle was sold in Japan, I have never passed the same vehicle. I think there are probably only a few dozen in Japan.
That gauge is an inclinometer, not an altimeter. It measures degrees of tilt and pitch, so keep you from falling over.
There was a lot of small Ute competition in the 80s . Enter the geo / Suzuki and the Dodge Raider SUV sold from 1987 to 1990, which was a rebadged Mitsubishi Montero.
i want one so bad
What a super cool car.
Very interesting
No wonder I really like this. I love the Rocky lol
It's not often I find a car I've never heard of these days... though my suspicion that it's the Toyota version of a Daihatsu Rocky was correct. :P
Cool car and overlooked in favor of Land Cruisers and more common Jimnys. It would have been fun if these had become popular in the US during Daihatsu's importation run. 80s Japanese 4x4s have a unique and distinctive style.
I'm surprised a cheap rugged SUV like this would have adjustable suspension. Leaf springs will beat you up but the adjustable suspension must be nice.
I didn't know this car existed.
They didn't just ridicule the samurai, the US government also ridiculed the Isuzu Troopers too
One day oh one day you'll review my cars :)
Those aren't bump stops. They are detents for the tailgate mechanism but I agree that they're very simple but well designed
Also Japanese radios won't pick up US frequencies.
Cool 😀
Also known as a Diahatsu Feroza....
Or the Rocky
Looks like it needs some motor mounts!
Diahatsu Rocky
ah yes, feroza in Indonesia.
Same cigarette lighter as my dads 87 nova.
Bro give me as a gift ❤😂
TURBO WAGON
Gettin skinny bud
