64 year old here. My brother and I purchased light bees three years ago to get back out woods riding that we missed sorely when we were younger. LB is 110 pounds, single-track all day. Pick it up and throw it around. Point and go. Absolute blast. Upgraded to an Ultra Bee (190 lbs) this year, three rides on it. Aye yi yi ... absolutely faster than I ever want to go in the woods. Suspension is worlds better than LB. Rode three hours yesterday, mixed signal track and ATV (because I was worried about my back) .. not even tired the whole day. Cannot wait to go back out. IMHO, woods riding in the Ultra Bee fits this bike (and me) perfectly!
Hmm 🤔 I guess you get used to the chain noise. I actually wish they were silent like an electric scooter. I’m 61 and an ex enduro racer on ktm 300 exc. I get the attraction for sure.
@@swedish_sadhguru3854 I dreamt of the Stark Varg, but then realized I am not 25 any more! Honestly, the Ultra Bee suits my woods riding pretty well. After a summer on it and a few hare scrambles, I'm very happy. My UB is 180 lbs, goes faster than I need it to. But yes, the Varg is very nice!
So cool Josh! You are so amazing. I could never ride that bike to its potential. Thanks for showing what can be done. I love my E-bike. Not having to put gas in it makes it so easy. Plug and play. 🥰👏🏻👏🏻
Man! I bought one of the first Light Bees from Luna Cycles. I’m feel kinda like a pioneer. Finally sold it but sure had fun on it in the hills and fields around Long Beach and Huntington Beach. Always great to watch Josh rip!
I grew up watching Josh i remember here in Texas when he was an amateur hearing about him in the C class 😂 a rider was telling me about him. But his bmx background is perfect for this bike. Josh your 2 wheel ability is crazy
Josh is killing it with the stock suspension. I would be dead after one lap. I changed to a Fox fork and rear shock. It is butter now. You can probably ride a beach cruiser faster than me on that track. 😂
Great demonstration! About how long of a jump can the Ultra Bee clear? Would a normal-size VET track with 40-foot table-tops be a problem for a 180lb rider?
Joshua i would really be interested in seeing you on a upgraded ultra bee. These bikes are well known for extensive upgrades. They are capable of 60hp+ and they have thrown wp 43mm forks on there. Please get your hands on one and do a review
@@joshhill75 If you already have one, just do 18/21 wheels and a 54T sprocket. Torp controller if you want more power. You can go all out with a battery too, but then you're in Stark Varg price range. I race in c-class hare scrambles with all the mods mentioned + guards and I love it. Very tough woods bike with minimal maintenance. Makes hard enduro easier
So many good used ones on the Facebook marketplace for good deals. I bought one with a 72v setup and Fox Shocks. It was a lot cheaper than a new one. It was in mint condition. So many people are buying them in the cities and then realizing cops are now cracking down on them in the streets so they sell them at a loss cause they never intended to use them offroad. The law was more in the grey area before. Now you get caught without peddling assistance and no motorcycle license and without the street legal parts on it they will tow it away. So many city folk and wheelie boys ruined it for us who wanted to ride it down the street to the trails.
I’m not in the market for this bike, but either way it’s amazing how much skill you have on the 2 wheel machines🤙 I would be stoked if you did some legit street bike videos…just an idea.
How about we keep him on the dirt so he doesn't become another street bike statistic? I have had two friends who went from dirt bikes to street bikes. One is now mentally handicapped and the other passed away when a car went into his lane. Neither was riding recklessly. The cars were reckless. Your life is in another driver's hands. Some people don't just don't care about another person's life when driving. Then you have drunk drivers who are even worse. I know I'm being a Negative Nancy Pelosi. But for good reason.
the stock suspension on this bike is definitely good for the trails, not so much set up for mx, but this thing is just fun wherever you take it! wish you at least had a 21/18 wheel set cuz it makes a world of difference, glad you liked the bike tho :) you're right on the money it's more of a KLX/TTR i think the storm bee was their attempt at MX
as someone who rides emotos and loves them, don't fall for the hype on this bike. there are folks on YT showing the real world range at about 20 to 25 miles and less if your pinned all the time. The quality is shit on sur rons. No warranty. Its a cheap china bike. Sure they're are a lot of fun and if you mod them out they can be good. but i'm always breaking parts on my sur ron.
I fully modded a '20 Lite Bee and raced hare scrambles and never broke in 3 years. I like my stock Ultra much more. Of course I changed wheels and chain and prefer trails on the D mode and get 35+ miles living at Rampart Range. That it charges on my rv solar is a bonus. Now Josh, a FACTORY dirtgod, has reaffirmed my original impressions of the bike. Big thanks to Hill for taking the time to review a humble Chinese ebike but a bike that many of us have come to appreciate.
Surrons are covered by warranty as for the range there are alot of variables with the range and alot of it has to do with weight. I average 30 mile rides and I'm usually at 50-60% range and I a heavy set fella ..
@@grabir01 You'd be surprised. A guy at my last hare scramble had a home built converted KTM, very high end build. I passed him on my modded Ultra Bee. He had to battery swap during the race. I finished with 44%. It's a good quality bike with lots of quality aftermarket too
I sold my dirt bike to get a ultra bee I ride it in urban settings and I don’t have to worry about stuff breaking E bikes are 5x more reliable than well maintained dirt bikes and they make more torque as well
Quiet, not hot to the touch, no fuel lines or oil for engine, don’t stink if you have to store inside or in a garage, don’t have to go to gas station just charge overnight at home for cheap.

you should get the new Stark Varg, way better.

That thing is a machine to be bone stock!! Makes me wanna get my hands on one 🤝

Thanks a lot!
I want to see you on the charged cycle ultra bee with Wp suspension and the big boy battery.
I own the Ultra Bee and its fairly powerful already! It must be a real animal with those upgrades!

this is the bigger surron not the light bee
Goddamn this thing looks so fun
Round town this would be great. Come to raleigh!
One thing about the Sur Ron every weekend way past midnight still riding the mtb trails and no noise complaints
Great Video, Makes me want to replace Light bee with ultra.
It looks like he needs more power, like he’s wringing it out

Josh, you should compare lap times on that and a 250f.
You should upgrade it, the power is insane!

The only thing I hate about the bike is it doesn’t come with 21” front, otherwise they are sweet!
Is it better than a full moded lightbee or talaria?
Hey do mind sharing the settings like comp and rebound+-? :)
Dude I am not poor but jeez 6500 for that thing. I’ll take a used 125 lol
It does look fun 😂
Theres a huge aftermarket for it too. My Ultra is atleast $10k. I love it though. Barely any maintenance and it rips.
Do you guys thing that putting conttroler for more power on stock battery is stupid?
No. The Torp controller does 17kW with the stock battery. Stock controller is 12.5, it's a big boost.
I rode one of these the other day and it was fun as f@ck
They're more serious when you ride them than they look sitting there.
Want one so bad for turn track training

thicker wheels and a bigger sprocket will be the first thing to upgrade and then about 4k in parts following lmao

we need the sx track replica in MX BIKES

Yeah it took your abuse for that 10 minutes but unfortunately i doubt it would make 10 hours, let alone 100 like a real dirtbike
It’s more of a pit bike. People have been riding surrons for years now and they’re actually pretty reliable.
Me and a big group of buddy’s hammered on it pretty hard all weekend. Only thing I had to retighten after unboxing was the headset
