I am going to try to make at least two puppets one boy and one girl . I will be using them to explain all about a rare bone condition to young school children . My son has this condition it causes his bone to break very easily.When these children go to school the other kids need to know to be very careful . So I will be taking the puppets along to do the explaining . 1. What brand of contact cement do you use? 2. Also when you were creating the mouth did you put contact cement inside at the corners? How did the mouth stay in that position when you push your hand inside the head? I did not see you put any cement in at that time. 3. Is there a certain kind of foam I would order from the company you gave us the web site for? I love puppet and have made other kinds form sock puppets to Marionettes and small finger puppets and few Muppet type puppets. I am very creative and also create make costumes.
I'm not that great either it really simple just work outside or in a strong vent area that rubber compound cement has some strong fumes. i had to research it a bit talk to some people and watch some videos that were in another language. but really give it try.
Ann To answer tour Question 1. Dap Weldwood Original Contact Cement you can get this at home depot. This is contact cement and its fumes are quite strong please take the necessary precaution’s as you can see I do this outside. This Product is highly flammable so is best to do in well-ventilated environment. But this works the best original” red label”, there is green label none flammable but it didn’t work for me. Theirs other brand of contact cement out there, its may take some research as to what works best for you. 2. Yes I put contact cement inside at the corners and yes I did put contact cement in the inside of the mouth and around the mouthpiece ahead of time. 3. Yes this company will send you free samples if your not sure I like the Polly foam ½” inch seem to work the best for me, others like the one inch. Its whatever you’re comfortable with. This is the company I ordered the polyfoam from its cheapest. I found them very helpful. I bought the ½” thick some people prefer the 1"inch, but it’s about what more comfortable for you. no it actual a piece of wire that i uses to pinch the foam and make sort of a forehead. it helps shape the head, i actualy had touch time with on the video
