Jimmy in Oregon just has to share his all-time favorite scene from his favorite sitcom with Jim Ignatowski (Christopher Lloyd) as a novice door-to-door salesman.
I've always wanted to send a letter of thanks to Mr. Lloyd for providing me with one of the few pleasant moments I had with my dad. He and I were watching this episode late one night, and after Jim did his spiel and grabbed that encyclopedia, Dad laughed longer and louder than he ever had before--and this was a man who rarely cracked a smile, let alone laughed. I was in hysterics too, as much from Dad's reaction as from Jim's antics.
He (Mr.Lloyd) even played a Harvard straight-college student (Jim)with Jeremy Iron voice-alike before he went on to drugs or the story how he went on to drugs.. it was hilarious!! 😂 and way soo talented actor!! 😊
I'd like to inject a comment here about the marvelous veteran actress, Alice Hirson, who plays the housewife. A daunting challenge to play the foil to over-the-top Mr. Lloyd, but the perfect foil she is, exactly the right casting for the role. Moreover, the timing between the two is a post-graduate lesson in stage interaction.
The reverend Jim, to me, was the funniest guy on TV. He had some of the funniest bits I've ever seen. His drivers license written test was a riot too, but he also had some of the most touching scenes as well.
He is my main reason to watch TAXI. AFTER SO MANY YEARS. ALL THE EPISODES ARE FUNNY BUT THE BEST ONES TO ME FEATURE CHRIS LLOYD.HE IS SIMPLY AN OUTSTANDING ACTOR.
Freaking hilarious !! 🤣 Christopher Loyd and Andy Kaufman were my favorite actors from that show. And let’s not forget about the number 1 Guido Danny Devito !! 🏆😎
I'll bet many can identify with Ignatowski in this scene, to some extent. For me it was waterless cookware. I prepared roast beef dinners for groups of people, all at my expense, gave a talk afterwards, next day visited individuals at their homes. Sold one little pot. Expensive education about who is NOT cut out to be a salesperson!
This rerun played recently. I was watching it with my mom, but I was tired and went to bed. She stated that she went to sleep as well. I was curious to see the end. I'm glad the Lord led me to look it up on here.
Jim always knows how to make a mess out of nothing.. and nobody... even himself... a real pig.. jk BRILLIANT CHARACTER portrayed by Christopher Lloyd, the greatest character actor, one of a kind!
Hilarious! Comedy gold! Hello! Mine name is (insert name here) but you can call me (nickname)! If you're not laughing, check your pulse. You may be dead.
Back in the day when people would actually answer the door without first receiving a text asking for permission to call so they could tell you when they would arrive, if that was ok.
That's because everyone was normal then. Today, everyone is nuts. You could hitch hike across the country in the 70's and even 80's, safely. Then the 90's came and with that the crime.
No show nowadays has comedy this funny! Shows then, be it The Jeffersons, Taxi, Carol Burnett, or any seventies sitcom always had the studio audience and it made it all the real! The actors acting couldn’t help but break out of character laughing! Watch closely Reverend Jim’s driving test. Throughout you can see Tony Danza trying to hold it in and then the rest of the cast members break out and start laughing. You know when the actors start laughing, then it is comedy in its purest!
Originally, Queen Elizabeth was set to play the role of Jim. But after reading the script for this episode, she became indignant about the character harming a carpet in such a callous manner.
Grandson recently started selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door, doing well to my surprise. Does anyone buy vacuums that way any more? I guess so. Anyway, he not only found the scene as hilarious as I did, even more so as relevant, tho' doubted any sales person would do quite such a spillage demonstration.
Taxi was a funny show but none of them ever came close to being as funny as Christopher Lloyd. His Jim Ignatoski should be a Hall of Fame winner for the best character ever in a series.

I think he has a tweeter account, download the app and you can send him a message or so.. 😊👍
@@Fritz_80s Yup, he does. I've sent him messages before, and he has responded.
I wish I could write him too but I don't know or just send the message to
Ppq😅😂
Christopher Lloyd is a genius 😂
The fact that it’s still funny today is a testament to the writing and acting.
So right you are. I think the same every time I watch the video....or almost any Taxi episode.
I think he played one of the funniest characters of all. I laugh just looking at him.
If you look at his character. You notice/realize that he was the original Kramer.
@@ladennayoung2939who’s Kramer?
Jim, the greatest salesman imaginable..
Ever since I seen Jim make a castle out of his van for Elaine, Jim has been the greatest most caring adorable character ever!
"or you can call me, nickname" haha
I never saw this one before. I had a feeling something was wrong by the shape of the box. Damn! He was hilarious! One of my favorite characters!
Such a great comedy. I loved Taxi !!! I still watch reruns of it.
Reverend Jim says where do I plug this in😂😂😂😂❤🎉🎉 you got to be kidding me
In my opinion, this is the funniest scene from the entire series. Hands down.
Nothing is funnier than..."What does a yellow light mean?" "Slow down" scene.
@@michaelcolfin8464 Thats a funny scene too, but I still have to go with this one.
Playing the piano, this one and the driving test. Piano just No 1 and I can't separate the next two.
"where do I plug this in?" lmao
“How do you do Mr or Mrs fill in name of couple. I’m your name here, but you can call me nickname.” Lmao
Give Lloyd credit but ya got love the lady customer...great character actress
When this hits 88mph, you will see some serious shit
🤣
Has always been my favorite Taxi moment!
Wow!!!!!! Comedy like this is priceless
As a professional salesperson for 20+ years this is absolute gold.
Completely relatable.
He played that dummy role way too good!!
*druggie, look for 'reverend jim before the drugs'
He (Mr.Lloyd) even played a Harvard straight-college student (Jim)with Jeremy Iron voice-alike before he went on to drugs or the story how he went on to drugs.. it was hilarious!! 😂 and way soo talented actor!! 😊
He's not a "dummy". In fact he's highly intelligent. He's just very, very drugged up.

I see that episode when it aired never forgot it.
I've been looking for this clip for years, brilliant!!!
One of the greatest actors ever, just sayin'
The reverend Jim, to me, was the funniest guy on TV. He had some of the funniest bits I've ever seen.
His drivers license written test was a riot too, but he also had some of the most touching scenes as well.
Great acting and writing sequence...
Christopher Lloyd is a very talented great actor, just sayin'
He has to be to do this character so good that we still love him 40 years later!!
He is my main reason to watch
TAXI. AFTER SO MANY YEARS.

GENIUS! 🤣
Christopher Lloyd is a natural at playing these roles. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hes very convincing playing nuts.
The joint that falls out of his pocket. Guarantee that was Lloyd's idea 😂 😂
I tried to sale Kirby Vacuums for about a month- Pretty sure this is how I came off to the house residents......
I'll bet many can identify with Ignatowski in this scene, to some extent. For me it was waterless cookware. This is bar none the best scene he was in, I cracked up even as a kid seeing this.
really funny !!!!!!!!! I still remember the line when he remembers he ISNT selling vacuum cleaners.
I haven't watched this in a year but I will go to my grave now and this is one of the funniest scenes of all time
This rerun played recently. I was watching it with my mom, but I was tired and went to bed. She stated that she went to sleep as well. I was curious to see the end. I'm glad the Lord led me to look it up on here.
I love how she is terrified of him.
HAHAHAHA. Genius, didn't know Doc Brown was a comedian, but now it makes sense.
Ten ten TV character of all time.
never realized just how much kramer was based on christopher lloyd's character in this
I love the segment from this episode about Elaine's other job.
I've been walking this big blue ball for 53 years and I swear I always refer back to this particular scene in order to laugh my ass off
Oh dear God. That is still so good.
oh wait that's grease , no problem for the carpet wizard lmao
Jim always knows how to make a mess out of nothing.. and nobody... even himself... a real pig.. jk BRILLIANT CHARACTER portrayed by Christopher Lloyd, the greatest character actor, one of a kind!
He was great playing Iggy.......he=is Back To The Future role as Doc Brown.....to me was just so so.I think Chris was the best cast member of Taxi.
LMAO!!! didnt get the vacuum job.. hah!
I'm selling encyclopedias
Masterpiece!
Hilarious! Comedy gold!
Hello! Mine name is (insert name here) but you can call me (nickname)!
If you're not laughing, check your pulse. You may be dead.
lmfao!!! what a riot.
Good lord that was funny.
Christopher Lloyd is the funnyist actor I ever seen
I had insurance sales training just like this back in the 80s.
I didn't last long.
We wouldn't call the Magic Carpet wizard of the Denver perform Miracles first let's make it tough😂😂😂❤🎉❤❤
Back in the day when people would actually answer the door without first receiving a text asking for permission to call so they could tell you when they would arrive, if that was ok.

What talent
Classic
"Uh, may I come in and talk to you about Magic-Carpet-Wizard?"
Me: "Only if we can talk in my room..." XD
We have an exact replica of this "Jim" at the workplace.
I'm your name here
But you can call me nickname
He's so adorable
*I did it I got in* hahahahaha
The reason Jim made the mistake was because he really wanted to be a Magic Carpet Wizard
It’s these few clips of his that got me to instantly buy while DVD set and watch the series for the first time recently! Great show 👍🏼
Are you satisfied with your present carpet cleaner😂😂😂😂❤❤
an underated comedic actor...taxi would have been so boring without loyd....
I keep feeling so sorry for that poor woman.
Alice Hirson is still alive at 95 years old!!
Genius:)
Off the wall.
Brilliant
Comedy in the old days

And that just happens to be the volume with the letter V that includes an entry on vacuum cleaners!
I love when He gets to the ketchup bottle 😂😂😂😂😂
I love, how he always entered a scene speaking like a drunk politician holding a speech...😆😆
Brilliant role, love C. Lloyd..
Chris Lloyd also did a serious character in a Star Trek movie, remember?
In 40 years, they still haven't developed a machine that can clean all that.
And to think he went on to invent the flux capacitor.
This is hilarious 😂
Christopher Lioyd is an absolute genius.
Video ended at precisely the right moment. Always loved Jim and hated Latka!
Think Josh Blue is a runner up to Taxi Jim. Cut from the same mold.
Must've been a fun few years for any clergymen out there who WERE named Jim.
Coulda been worse, there was Reverend Jim Jones.
I once tried doing such $ales, and I was worse than Jim in this scene; that's how they trained us! Chris Lloyd was genius comedy!
Originally, Queen Elizabeth was set to play the role of Jim. But after reading the script for this episode, she became indignant about the character harming a carpet in such a callous manner.
Yesitsgood
Fucking hysterical

Jimmy Wood Well, my dad is a door-to-door sales man...he goes to houses selling doors.
Sophie and Izzy! Funny funny! I'm going to steal this one...
Jimmy Wood :'(
I was laughing out loud within the first 25 seconds of this clip and all the way through it.
Taxi was a funny show but none of them ever came close to being as funny as Christopher Lloyd. His Jim Ignatoski should be a Hall of Fame winner for the best character ever in a series.
Can this machine clean up ketchup😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

"Oooh theirs a little dirt"
Excellent
No wet wonder foam? 😂
Q Anon makes Iggy look sober and normal.
Even he would say that they are cray cray.
