All of the rolled attachments with straps are tarps ... they were used not only for concealing the Tank but also providing wet weather ( waterproofing when fording rivers, creeks, swamps ) and sun protection for the crew; very important in the absolutely precipitous climate of the New Guinea and Javanese regions of the Pacific - can you imagine doing Tank maintenance in torrential rain and mud? The stowage boxes at the fore of the tank guards would have been additional storage for tools, small arms/belted ammo, and or the accessories for the setting up of canopies for the crew and Tank itself. The crew could have done with these as they see fit. The perforated steel sections attached to the rear engine covers are anti-grenade plates to stop the Japanese using 'Sticky Grenades' or other incendiaries of that type - it was not as some kind of raised section for the stowage of gear like a roof rack assembly. The stowage boxes at the rear left and right of the tank tracks contained Field Radios which allowed the Infantry to communicate directly with the Tank Crew when the Tank was locked down and under fire. This innovation also permitted the Infantry to help the Tank direct fire where they wanted it. Additional tank tracks were welded to the outside of the Tank as extra armour ... these are not spare tracks. The 2 red stripes down the side of the Tank were Fording Markings to show two heights of water levels safe for the Tank to travel through waterways - a high and low mark visible to crew and infantry. The folding guards attached to both the right and left tracks of the Aussie Matilda's are 'Track Idler' Guards - these were heavy duty armour plated guards fitted to protect the 'Tracks Idlers' being vulnerable to attack by fire from the Japanese, which could disable the Tank if struck. The same must be said for the Turret ring collars welded in place to protect the Turret traverse mechanism being knocked out and unable to rotate under fire. There's more but ... yeah.

Very realistic-looking clutter. Yes, it speaks for itself, pictures and thousands of words and all that.
I really like the vise for some reason, it just looks so mundane on a war vehicle. It's probably there to hold the teapot.
The tread guards are very WH40K.
Painting all of that will be very fiddly too, I'm guessing.

I like that adding process doesn't look fiddly at all. 😄

I rekon that resin mat engine part was for the other bit off mat the size if it and shape! Resin is so detailed now if it was for the back they would have made sure the tarp rolled over the ends

this is awesome Herbert, have you been to puckapunyal? they have a fair share of matildas down there, a few with those red stripes on them that you were thinking of doing. might be a good reference :)

It is unfortunate that you used the British version of the Matilda as your base - the Russian ("Red Army") version is much closer to the Australian Matilda. Significantly different tracks, "skids" instead of return rollers for the tracks, no vents on the front deck of the tank etc are just some of the differences. I actually made the same mistake and filled the vents, purchased after-market tracks etc. before finding out about the Red Army version by Tamiya that already had the necessary differences...
Of course then you STILL have to buy the resin etc regardless...
