  • The Uzebox is a retro-minimalist 8-bit open source games console. Notable features include its completely open, affordable and easy to build design as well as software defined video and audio output, which means the Uzebox offers an almost infinite number of video modes. The Uzebox is the the fastest 8 bit games console and one of the first 8 bit consoles to get WiFi support.
The Uzebox is the perfect platform for anyone wanting to learn electronics or (retro) games development. Uzebox games are mostly coded in C and nearly all of the games released for the platform are open source. I was able to build a Uzebox with no previous electronics experience and so can you.
The Uzebox Omega is a modified version of the Uzebox that removes the need for the AD725 video converter chip, making the Uzebox (without the optional Uzenet WiFi) a single chip games console. It also replaces the S-Video output of the reference Uzebox design with a 9 pin mini din AV socket which allows you to use Sega Mega Drive 2 SCART cables to connect it to a TV and provide both video and audio output.
