I don't think this properly demonstrates how well the machine runs, even with this game, there are other videos of people running doom 3, at much higher framerates. I realize it's an older video, and possibly, better optimizions and better drivers that have recently become available, may be the reason others get so much better performance, in doom 3.

To which graphics cards would the jetson tx2 & the jetson xavier compare to? Based on fps, video quality, etc.

Does removing the standard sdl2 files and rebuilding them as you show negatively affect the Jetson Nano in other ways?

To put the gaming potential in perspective, the GTX1060 in my PC has 1280 cuda cores (10x the Jetson Nano) running at almost exactly twice the clock rate, giving up to 20x the potential performance vs the dumbed down 128 cuda core Tegra TX1that Nvidia chose for the Jetson Nano. Bad as this sounds, my Jetson Nano gives a glmark2 and glmark2es2 score of 2060, which is almost 20x higher than the 104 glmark2 and glmark2es2 scores of my Raspberry Pi 3b. So the Jetson Nano is in theory about 20x weaker than a GTX`1060, but 20x *higher* than a Raspberry Pi. So although the Jetson Nano is *much* better than the Raspberry Pi, a little more GPU and CPU horsepower would be nice for gaming. This horsepower is already available in the Nvidia Shield TV, which uses a more powerful 256 cuda core version of the Tegra X1, so what would be really cool would be for Nvidia to release an updated carrier board, with a fast M.2 slot, the higher power 256 cuda core Tegra X1, and support for a high power 20w power mode for users who install the optional fan. Do that Nvidia (and keep the updated versions list price at or below $119 or so), and you would not only improve the AI performance enormously, but would also have a board that would help promote the Tegra architecture as a Non-Microsoft, Non-Intel, Non-AMD alternative for desktop gaming.

I also ordered a Jetson Nano as soon as they became availalbe because I think Nvidia's entry into to the low cost SBC board market could be a real game changer for ARM on the Linux desktop. Gaming performance looks a bit twitchy at the moment, but the potential is definitely there for the future as higher powered Tegra SOC's are made available. Traditionally, ARM does well in the handset, tablet, and set top box markets, but not on the desktop, due to the lack of good GPU driver support on the ARM platform. The gamechanger here though is that, unlike other ARM SOC suppliers Nvidia has already invested literally man years of development in their Maxwell/Pascal series of GPU core Linux and Windows drivers which can be ported to ARM with fairly minimal effort. One can easily Imagine a new generation of Linux based ARM laptop and desktop computers where "everything just works" which provide users with better stability, security, and privacy protection than Windows, MacOS, and ChromeOS by offering access an operating system where their private information is not considered a "monetary resource" by a multi billion dollar corporation. So asside from the untapped future A.I. market, the Tegra series could usher in a new ARM workstation market, which could be a real opportunity for Nvidia' since their stock took a big bounce, then a big downturn, caused by idiots trying to jump on the crypto mining bandwagon, first buying, then dumping, their Nvidia GPU's, when they discovered that they were too late to the party to make any money.

Really impressed by the desktop performance! I just placed a pre-order but in the meantime checking out videos from people who got it early to check how it performs mainly for a portable desktop replacement at 2k and beyond. Are you going to try to adapt the PCIE to fit an nvme ssd or just going to run a USB3 adapter only?

Thank You for posting the video. I am still sad too. George must be feeling a relief for escaping when he looks at and around what once was his home. I believe, it would have been quite different if he could have lived through the end of this century.
