Great coverage films. Excellent job highlighting the guys who have been solid all year.

It's amazing what the film will show you. If we can hold onto the majority of the 2024 defensive studs, this defense will become monstrous. This is possibly the clearest video yet of how well Armstrong can scheme.

Using the yellow marker to fill the screen with "pain" is how I know calm, cool James is losing it. Stay strong Gator bro.

The amount of regression is the concerning part. Florida historically has had NFL talent at every level of the defense, every year until recently. That being said, the amount of attempted arm tackles and the amount of missed attempted arm tackles is alarming. This defense has NO identity. NO juice. NO energy. NO Dawgs. NO hard hitters. NO ball hawks. NO consistency. It's devoid of EVERYTHING. 2020 defensive vibes for sure. I see a combination of coaching and personnel as the issues but this defense has a LONG way to go to be competitive. Almost every team having their best game against Florida says a lot..

Arkansas has generated points this year (I think averaging low 30s), but I think Florida fans expected less from the offense after only putting up 3 against MS State and just losing their OC.. The offensive woes were mainly due to the lack of Rocket Sanders, offensive line, and probably the poor play calling/moral from Dan Enos. Felt like Arkansas had a lot more to fight for in this game. Can't put a hog in a corner and expect it to go out without a fight. Great video!

Let me sum it up. We don’t have the players on defense to compete right now.

Great breakdown James. I think we have good design, but we fail generally at execution. How much of that is inexperience and how much of that is just average play, I'm not sure. It seems to be a mix. I will never be a fan of tackle technique that does not include squaring up or wrapping up. Too many launch there bodies and miss.

Scooby started this season doing better, but has fallen off the past couple games.
We have to recruit better linebackers or the ones we have have to step up.

We had 3 anomaly plays that cost us 11 points . Ricky's "fumble" strip score and the 2 missed kicks. One of which was a muffed hold. James, if Billy does hire an OC during the off-season, who is/are good candidates in your opinion ?

Don’t really need to watch this to know that the issue is our ‘upperclassman’ defender is a sophomore and there are a bunch of freshmen all over the place. Lots of talent but freshmen starting in the SEC is not going to work against anybody. Hard to fault the guys, they will get a lot better with a year under their belt and some more guys coming in.

James- I’ve seen gripes with the way they’re employing Princely in a 2 gap responsibility as opposed to letting him fully cut loose as an edge rusher. Do you see it that way? Would love to get your thoughts

There are good reasons to utilize both 1 gap and 2 gap, imo. Princely currently is 27th in the country in pressures generated...

Im on the coach Ham train. Our defense is better than it was last year, under a new coach and new scheme. I think the reason we're not better than we are, is because it is a new scheme and we are starting a lot of inexperienced Freshman. I think our defense in 25 is going to be a problem for opposing teams

I know these are 19 to 22 year old kids but what is up with the lack of tackling ability. Scooby has got to be the worst at tackling i have ever seen. Unfortunately as a LSU fan we have 3 or 4 scooby's on our defense. Is the poor tackling technique a result of this being a snowflake generation. Are they teaching this in peewee & high school football. Love your videos. No doubt you are the best film review guy in the buisness. Thanks for your hard work. Hope your channel continues to grow & you get a gig on ESPN.

Thanks for your kind words! Tackling has been suspect for many programs, I believe in large part bc they simply don't have contact practices as much as they used to.

James aren't you the one that talked about anchoring? Seams like you are anchoring to Coach Ham. Kimber has struggled all year long. To leave him in 1on1 bump and run coverage to the far side of the field on 3rd and long is coaching malpractice.

First, I want to say that every time you say that's a freshman or redshirt freshmen ect.. You are making excuses. Just like Arkansas fans can make excuses about an OL that played little last year and some played in a different position. Those are all excuses.
Personally, I don't know who you are. Did you play college football? Did you coach it? I stopped by just to give you a view because most people that do these post act like they know what they are talking about, and to the average Joe it sounds good but you haven't a clue. You gave yourself away. For anyone who has played the game in college like I have knows better. You claimed that LB had the flats in zone coverage. That depends on the what defense is call and alignment. He could have also had inside coverage rather than the flat. Because there was no coverage on the inside.
You also made the statement that each person has a man???? What? That's only in man coverage. In zone they have an area of coverage. Again, it depends what type of defense you are playing and the coverage alignment that was called by the coaches. Just as CB's don't always have deep 1/3 coverage. Sometimes they have under coverage with safety help.
It's also easy to talk from the sidelines. Team have players with different ability and skill set. You can be in the correct position and get beat because of speed. The second defensive play that LB was in a tough position. Not knowing the exact defense it looked as though he he could have been beat from the outside or inside. Easy catches often happen because of the skill set of the receiver more than the LB not being in the right position. Arkansas fans can look at their defense against them and have some of the exact same comments.
Just like I can use the excuse that the interception was on the QB and it that play wasn't designed to go to that player. That's just part of the sport. It's clear he misread the defense otherwise he would have seen the WR open in the middle. You can call it an excellent scheme or a misread. But, if a person said it was a misread by KJ, that would sound like an excuse. Kind of like what you are doing.

      @TheGatorNationFootballPodcast  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thanks for taking the time to comment and watch some of the video. My film reviews aren't for everyone, so you have other options to choose from and enjoy. :)
Saying someone is a freshman is context, not an excuse. You expect freshman to have a wider range of variance than Seniors.
I say on every single video that I can't know exactly what the defensive rules are for any play, so I make guesses based on what players do pre snap and post snap, but of course, they can get their assignements wrong and I don't know the exact assignment. However, what can be said is that something went wrong if you see a mixing of rules and a blown coverage.
When it is man to man, it is man to man, I did not say this about a zone defense play. Also, you can man match and zone match, and there are obviously rules for each of those that different teams employ depending on the formation. I cannot know those rules, but again, post snap we can make some guesses.
As for QBs throwing ints, there are good ints and bad ints. Good reads and bad reads. Without knowing the play, you can often make a good guess based upon the pre snap and post snap look.
