The thing to remember about the Refrigerator is, not only was he BIG, but he was QUICK and he hit the hole fast, with tremendous momentum. Also, that was back in the day when there were no "helmet-to-helmet" penalties. (12:50 He destroyed that Patriots player in the video clip.) Thats because more then likely, they should've given Payton the ball to run it in for a TD in what would likely end up being his only Super Bowl appearance--and win, in his career. If Ditka says now that he didnt know or realize how much scoring a TD in SB XX meant to Walter, he's lying, or he's deluded himself into believing that fantasy for so long that he's partially begun to believe it. At the time, in the particular moment in the game, I don't think he really cared either way about Walter's feelings or how much he meant to the team, his overall contributions to tram ANF franchise over the past 10 seasons, it was a non-factor, for him. The only reason why Ditka has shifted or "evolved" his views on not making the decision was due to how beloved, likable of a man and player Payton was to the city of Chicago, his heart-breaking, well-publicized but inspirational decline and death that sort of made him seem like a complete jerk and a asshole to many Bears, NFL fans. I'm very skeptical whenever I hear Ditka proclaim he wouldve made a different decision if he could re-live the whole scenario over again, I don't believe him. I think he makes a similar decision today that he made back then. It's difficult to explain to many NFL fans these days, and particularly fans outside of Chicago and over age of 45-50 group just how arrogant, bloated and insufferable Ditka's ego was back in the mid-80's, and how it remained there long after that SB win and how it eventually became a divisive issue with his players later on by the late 80's. By 1989, Ditka had, by and large, lost a good deal of respect from the veterans and assistants in the locker room and didnt take him or his orders and tirades seriously anymore. Jim McMahon, OTOH, I suspect is being sincere when he says he would just ignored Ditka's play-calling, and call his own play near the end zone so late in the game with Chicago up so big, he and Walter had bonded especially well over the last 4 seasons and McMahon had a better, more sympathetic understanding of how much scoring a SB TD meant to Sweetness.
That was a crap call from the OC, and Ditka gave it the okay...I'm a Pat's fan from back in the 70's starting with the Grogan's Heros, some hard nosed running (Steve Grogan/Sam Cunningham/John Calhoun) behind a devastating offensive line (John Hannah/Leon Gray)!!! They could have let Perry blast through for Walter Payton to have his Super Bowl Moment to top off his HOF Career!!!
3:22-What a game for B-Dawk: the first time a defensive player intercepted a pass, recorded a sack, recovered a fumble and caught a touchdown all in the same game. #Flyeaglesfly
I still remember watching those Dontari Poe TD's, those were awesome. I thought he was gonna run in the first one, but then he does that jump pass, which was still awesome
Before signing DeAndre Hopkins, Mike Vrabel’s 10 TD catches were more than any active Titans WR had. (Chris Moore, 8; Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, 6). Hopkins, for comparison, has 71.
Deion is the Aang ( Avatar Last Airbender) of the NFL in the 90s he can be a punt returner, a cornerback and a wide receiver plus a baseball too. You don't have many defensive players or any players in general like that no more in the modern day NFL
I remember playing Madden 2000 on Nintendo 64 and anytime I played with the Dallas Cowboys I would have times where I’d put him as a punt returner or switch him to a receiver.
Deions high step in the opening scene is slept on bro really cooked up a whole defense with that oh you got me PSYCH and kicked it into high gear immediately
I remember in the 96 season for Dallas when Michael Irvin was suspended for the first I think handful of games due to off the field situation, Deion was literally playing WR and DB for entire games.
I don’t know if I’d go that far, but receiving MVP votes as a non quarterback, let alone a defensive player is a huge accomplishment. Especially in recent decades.
Christian Wilkins is the best one, he totally takes out a poor fan by jumping into a group of only 3 people. The guy tried to catch him but failed spectacularly.
As a free safety in high school I made a great one handed interception, and a few other interceptions that were textbook, fingertip offensive receiver catches. But as an offensive receiver, I could barely catch a G*d damn football that I was supposed to.
Deion was great. But I feel as a Defensive Back he shouldn’t be on the list. His job on D was also catching ball. BUT I do agree, he was a hell of a receiver!!!

Mike Vrabel could have been a solid starting tight end in the NFL.

So could JJ Watt. Like he was well defended on those catches.
No kidding. I'd argue he could be a solid fullback as well.
I wonder what that guy's doing now... his energy would make for a great coach too.
As a Patriots fan, Marcus Jones has so much potential. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for him

Who you tellin!! I want him to be the highlight of a generation.

Mac Jones, Stevenson, and Marcus Jones are the only ones are good on the Patriots

Deion could play so many positions really impressive ngl
Literally one of the best athletes of all time
I still have not seen anyone able to play man to man at the level he did in his prime.
HE was really a 3 way player - offense, defensive, special teams
And also a baseball player 😂
And not even just in football…

Rod Woodson also played offense. He was the last Iron in college football. In the NFL he was a kick returner ,punt returner.
In college. It didn't work out in nfl but he was a great returner
Deion was elite at everyhing he did lmao 😂😂😂

Love these compilations, hope we get to see Offensive Players on defense
My boy Julian Edelman was nice with it a lil bit.
And you’ll probably see mostly receivers back at safety for a HM.
Didn’t Randy Moss play cornerback at least once?
Yeah like Gronk against the Dolphins in 2018...oh wait...
