Hi! I just want to thank you for your videos they're very useful, I'm new to this game and I was struggling a bit in solo but thanks to this deck and video I gave a try to Ashcan and I love it. I also beat the ghoul priest in an epic battle. Thanks again! Keep doing a good job! Cheers from France
I had a good run through Dunwich using Painkillers to move damage onto Peter Sylvestre as horror and then heal that horror. Or maybe I was playing that wrong. This also gave me another item.
That use of Painkillers is allowed! If it said "take 1 direct horror" then you would be required to take it on your investigator, but Painkillers just says "take 1 horror" so you can assign it to any of your cards that can take horror.
A 4/4/4/3 investigator with 8 health and 8 sanity would be bonkers, and Duke/Pete is. Moonstone is apparently really good with Pete, since he has a built in discard ability. Take Heart is also good to keep his hand size up, and the resources let him build up from Dark Horse if need be.
Pete feels really good with rite of seeking, considering you’re always gonna be using duke first anyways, whether to investigate your current or adjacent location, or to attack a monster at your space (at which point you aren’t investigating anyways). Dark horse helps it too, and investigating with 5 (Duke or Rite of Seeking) is fairly solid most cases. Fills out the in between duke actions pretty nicely.
If you've kind of going for a more investigating deck, you could also include Alice Luxley. That plus one book is helpful and dealing a damage to an enemy? Seems like a pretty good deal to me.
Fire Axe lets you turn on your Dark Horse when you need it. Also you can dump resources into it to hit at a high skill level. You shouldn't really be attacking with Pete if you can help it.
I want to experience a run where it happens. Vengeful Ashcan Pete facing Yog-Sothoth, fist raised to the sky, screaming "you killed my dog" is my dream climax to Dunwich.
I did it with an infinite recursion Will to Survive deck! It's pretty strong once he is set-up! But Pete wasn't alone tho! It was a 3 player game and Duke was avenge! ;)
Dumb question but when you commit a card (pass or fail). Can putting the committed card (after your test) in the discard activate Pete’s ability of readying an asset like Duke??
Ashcan Pete can definitely be played solo. You may need to do some tweaking to further balance the clue-getting/killing potential, but Duke himself is very good at handling both of those things.
can someone give me a hint what can I use instead of Ward of Protection and Drawn to the Flame? I have 2 Mystics and dont have more than 2 Wards and "Flames"?
Can someone recommend a core or dunwich investigator to pair up with Pete? First my buddy wanted to play Stella...but with her the game loses lots of tthe tension imho
Roland could potentially be a good option, because he can kind of flex on both roles, leaning a bit more too combat. Agnes/Jacqueline as well because Mystics can kind of do it all. I think Winifred could also work, but she'd be a bit tough to flex effectively depending on experience. Depending on how hard Ashcan Pete went to combat or clue getting, you could always pair him with Nathaniel, Daisy, or Harvey.
I'd go with Resourceful or Scrounge for Supplies if you have them. Luckily, most Survivor cards will fit with Pete, because you can just discard them to ready Duke worst case scenario. I'd grab two cards that interest you, or alternatively, two skills that you could use to boost up Duke's stats for those tests.
With just those sets, I'd add a Cunning Distraction as a fail safe but also another "Guts" and then another Overpower. Alternatively, you could put an Emergency Cache or two in because you won't have to worry about having no resources for Dark Horse, and use them to pay for cards or feed the fire axe.
I may be missing something, but doesn't Duke fill your ally slot? Meaning you would need to discard him in order to play Peter or other allies? Appreciate your videos!
Duke is an ally but he doesn't take up the ally slot! There's no symbol on the bottom right corner! ;) Also since he has the ally trait you can use cards that interact with it like A Chance Encounter
Resourceful is a very good red card, it means more Lucky!'s, which is great. Duke also has a good Desperate build, using the 4 desperate skills in the cycle.
@@DaybreakerDJ Exactly! The second card is a dead draw (unless you have a way to take advantage of it by discarding it), so it just ups your consistency of seeing it earlier.
i judt got the dunwich legacy/investagator sets this morning this guide was just what i needed thanks.

Thanks for the kind words. We're glad it could help!

Great video as I just got this set in. What about swapping knife for fire axe since you can get it back with scavenging?
Fire Axe lets you turn on your Dark Horse when you need it. Also you can dump resources into it to hit at a high skill level. You shouldn't really be attacking with Pete if you can help it.
What are your thoughts on the Return to Dunwich achievement for winning the campaign after getting Duke sacrificed in Blood on the Altar?

I'm a bit in love watching Justin be a bit in love with Pete Sylvester! X
Great content as always!
Thank you!
Very hard to build a Ashcan/Agnes deck. HELP!!!
Is Dark Horse in the Dunwich Legacy first expansion? I can't seem to find it.
Dark Horse is in the Undimensioned and Unseen mythos pack. :)
I can't believe I never realised duke could get buffed by dark horse. That's disgusting and I love it
"Dog has no need for useless money!" 💪🐶
I know this is an old video but I have to ask how this deck guarantees drawing Duke since it is being stated how important that is.
Duke starts in play. Check out Ashcan Pete's investigator card. :)
@@PlayingBoardGames Oh crap, thanks! I guess my eyes kept jumping right to the lightening bolt I guess.
Dumb question but when you commit a card (pass or fail). Can putting the committed card (after your test) in the discard activate Pete’s ability of readying an asset like Duke??
No, it wouldn't. You need to use the discard ability on Pete's investigator card to ready an asset.
@@PlayingBoardGames whoopsies, no wonder he felt so strong. Looks like my gameplay will change mid-campaign!
Thanks for clearing that up lol
Huhu, great Videos from you guys! :) Is this deck able to be played as true solo? :) Greets from Germany :)

I don't have Dark Horse in my collection (yet). Any suggestion on what should take its place in my version of this deck?

@@PlayingBoardGames Impressive to reply (and so quickly) to a comment from a video you put out 10 months ago. Thanks for all you do :).
Unfortunately, I don't have those cards either. Just have two core sets and the Dunwich original box. No worries though.... I'll find something.
With just those sets, I'd add a Cunning Distraction as a fail safe but also another "Guts" and then another Overpower.

I'm starting Dunwich legacy and have all the Carcosa cycle available. One core. Any good Carcosa card for duke? I don't have dark horse yet

@@PlayingBoardGames I'll look into the desperate build sounds interesting!
You can have two copies of Dark Horse in your deck?!
Yup, but only one in play. :)
@@PlayingBoardGames so is this just to increase the odds of getting the card early?
@@DaybreakerDJ Exactly! The second card is a dead draw (unless you have a way to take advantage of it by discarding it), so it just ups your consistency of seeing it earlier.
I'm new to AH:LCG, but I've lived using Pete in other Arkham Horror titles. Is it cheating to use him in the base game campaign?
Not at all! Any investigator can be used in any campaign.
@@PlayingBoardGames welp, in that case I know what I'm doing tomorrow! Thank you!
