How to Replace VW Up! Headlight Lamp

How to replace the H4 fitting headlight bulb for the high/low beam in your VW up!
Shows replacing an old broken headlamp light with the Osram Night Breaker Laser H4 Halogen Headlight Lamp (64193NBL-HCB, 12V) on a Volkswagen Up. The general procedure will apply to replacing the main beam and low beam lamps any car.

Do you know if a LED bulb give any errors on this model up?

If you ask me. you can first unplug the plug and then easily remove the rubber. after that you have free space for the bulb.

While attempting to do this, the bigger ring as seen in 0:12 started moving. I mean the (almost) round, silver, bigger part in which the light bulb is inserted in the center, if you look from the front of the car. It seems like this should not be movable. Since the two catches are apparently attached to this part, the bulb is also moving. Any tips? 😱

I cant get the bottom metal clip off the metal base of the bulb. Its jammed 😪 any advice? Dont want to break them haah

It can much easyer. Wrench 26 mm put on the lightclip en then with the wooden steel of a hammer, tick it free.

For the facelift citigo and up it's not H4. Use H7 instead, hi and low beam are two different bulbs

Changing the light bulb of an up is a real pain in the ass. I can't unplug the connector because it is extremely tight fit.

Why is changing a light bulb so complicated on modern cars? What's wrong with just taking out a few screws, removing the lens, unscrewing the old bulb, screwing in the new one then replacing the lens?
