So glad you guys did a playthrough with the expansion, especially while it is still active on Kickstarter. The original playthough you did of Trickerion is still my all time favorite on your channel. Inspired me to buy the base game. Backing the expansion was a no-brainer.
At 46:25 tricks on a classroom tile may not be set up in the theater. Yellow would have had to go to the theatre first to set up the trick and THEN place the trick on a the classroom tile afterwards, which would have allowed blue to take that classroom spot first if he had wished.
Glad to see you taking the expansion on! Looking forward to watching. One thing regarding the amount of table space this monster takes up-- the box insert by meeple realty is incredible. It tightens up setup and teardown, and actually helps the game take up less table space (not by much but useful).
Actually the revised rulebook say the special assignment decks are face down and you draw 2 cards, choose one and put the other on the bottom of its deck when you take special assignment cards
Nice! With the relaunch I actually went back to the first play through you guys did just to reinforce 'that yes, now that there is a solo mode, I will be purchasing this game'.
So good - been waiting for your walkthrough of the expansion. Trickerion is one of my favs too :) Frances, you in the last round with the worker placement in the theatre - totally been there and feel you :) Thanks, guys! Good stuff!
@1:10:10 when you move a trick(reschedule trick) page 16, You don’t receive Link Bonuses. Otherwise you could in theory just keep moving the same trick for 1 action each over and over again to get bonuses.
At 1:03:30, they each gained a Shard for Anthony's Link, but because of the Prophecy, they should have each gained 2 Shards. They forgot about this again during the Classroom Phase at 1:05:50.
Love it. Thanks again for your great work. I am just puzzled over how you manage to keep calling the tricks spells ... in a game called Trickerion, haha. All the best.
You each forgot to include specialist bonuses on at least two performances. Great play through, though. I am continually impressed at how well you keep so many rules and intricacies in mind especially with all the added concerns associated with running the cameras. I can only cringe as I imagine how many mistakes I must make and how many things I must miss every time I play without the whole internet to point them out to me. :)
At 1:40:28 that is NOT a link. It's only if the same symbols meet *in a circle* that it's a link. There is no circle between those 2 spots, so no link can be formed there.
Your performance deck should have had 1 extra Riverside Theatre card. The 6 cards in the performance deck are *in addition to* the one you start with in play, you do not take it from those 6. So there should be a new performance card revealed every round from rounds 2-7, you should not have run out like you did in round 7 at 1:38:10.
At 1:05:58 I don't believe blue needs to pay for the apprentice that he returned to the supply, only for the new assistant. The "Hidden Talent" card upgrades the apprentice into an assistant; it's supposed to be the same person discovering a hidden talent, so why would he/she be paid twice!
Great playthrough, love this game. One note, at 1:06:23 I don't believe the new Assistant has to be paid since she is not technically added to his crew until the Return Characters phase (and didn't perfom an action that turn). Therefore, she wouldn't be present during the Pay Wages step.
The "Hidden Talent" card that he used to upgrade the apprentice into an assistant specifies that the new specialist's wages need to be paid that round. Personally I'd say that should be *instead* of the apprentice's wage, not in addition to it. I guess it's not 100% clear as written, but it's supposed to be the same person discovering a hidden talent, so why would he/she be paid twice!
Christopher Warr Thanks. Hadn't run across that card yet, I guess. I'd agree that it seems counterintuitive to pay the same person twice but I could see paying them the upgraded cost.
At 1:13:10, Anthony places his Protege (with 2 Secrets) on the +1AP spot in the Downtown, says that's good for 2AP, and then pays a Shard to make it 3AP. But doesn't the Protege by itself now have 2AP?

Love you folks, love Mindclash, love Trickerion. Ordered the Academy expansion and can't wait for it to arrive. Also ordered the Dawn of Technology expansion, have you tried that?
What are your thoughts on this game 2 player vs 4 player, if you have ever played 4 player. I ask because I want it for 2 players, but see the BGG users have overwhelmingly picked 4 being the best, while just 10% pick 2-player. Thank you for your channel, and your help.
Brent Williams The most we have played with is 3, not 4, but I will say this much...the base game without the "dueling magicians" ai is a little open in the theater, and set spots are always taken. The AI pack takes up spaces like a real player would (randomly) and there are a few trick markers taking up spaces on the performance cards, which give you the benefit of having other players playing, without having to wait for 2 more people to take turns ;-) At 45' per player, 4 players would take a really long time, but this is one that I don't feel you lose anything by playing with 2. I would wonder in the "best player count" how many people played with dueling magicians AI.
at 29:25 player 1 spends a Trickerion shard at the theatre, which is not allowed.
Yesssss. My favorite game of all time. Which I first saw on your channel. Can’t wait for this expansion!
So glad you guys did a playthrough with the expansion, especially while it is still active on Kickstarter. The original playthough you did of Trickerion is still my all time favorite on your channel. Inspired me to buy the base game. Backing the expansion was a no-brainer.
Yay! Your first play through of Trickerion is what convinced me to give it a try. Thanks for running through the new expansion.

This game is so satisfying when you managed to perform. I love it!
Nice! With the relaunch I actually went back to the first play through you guys did just to reinforce 'that yes, now that there is a solo mode, I will be purchasing this game'.
Just started watching, but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen Anthony so animated and excited at the start of a playthrough!
Scotty Cross I think it's because his toxic gallbladder is gone now...and we love this game hahaha :-p
At 34:55 you are able to purchase components directly to the manager's slots if they are available, you do not need to move it to her board later.
So good - been waiting for your walkthrough of the expansion. Trickerion is one of my favs too :) Frances, you in the last round with the worker placement in the theatre - totally been there and feel you :) Thanks, guys! Good stuff!

Ah, that was what i was wondering when watching and i didnt even played the game once. ^^
There’s actually one magician ability IIRC that let you get link bonuses even when you’re rescheduling tricks
Yay! I've been patiently waiting for your playthrough of this. :D
At 1:03:30, they each gained a Shard for Anthony's Link, but because of the Prophecy, they should have each gained 2 Shards. They forgot about this again during the Classroom Phase at 1:05:50.
At 1:04:19, Anthony scored 2 Fame for setting up a Burning Mummy Trick (Link). He should only have scored 1 Fame.
Love it. Thanks again for your great work. I am just puzzled over how you manage to keep calling the tricks spells ... in a game called Trickerion, haha. All the best.

Ahh...you collected the specialist bonuses shortly after the second time this happened.

At 54:40 blue didn't need to spend the extra 2 actions to rotate the die, as you can always learn tricks of your own school from any non-X die.
At 1:13:10 blue's protegee has 2 actions and the spot gives 1 more, so he did not need to spend a trickerion shard.
At 1:20:58, when the score is tied, turn order reverses between the players so Frances should go first.
At 1:47:30 blue's protegee is worth 3 action points +1 for the spot, so he doesn't need to pay a Trickerion shard.
Great playthrough, love this game. One note, at 1:06:23 I don't believe the new Assistant has to be paid since she is not technically added to his crew until the Return Characters phase (and didn't perfom an action that turn). Therefore, she wouldn't be present during the Pay Wages step.

Where did you get that little card organizer that's at the top left of the screen?
Looks like this one: www.etsy.com/listing/599713529/caddymax-universal-gaming-accessory?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=boardgameboost&ref=sr_gallery-1-1&more_colors=1
At both 1:51:05 and 1:52:15 there are only 4 links on each card, not 5, because only links over circles count.
At 1:10:10 when you take a reschedule action to move a trick to a new playbill, you do not score links, so blue should not get fame &/or money.
Love you folks, love Mindclash, love Trickerion. Ordered the Academy expansion and can't wait for it to arrive. Also ordered the Dawn of Technology expansion, have you tried that?
At 50:40 yellow didn't get her bonus for having an engineer backstage.
At 1:18:23, Anthony forgot to give himself 2 Fame for his backstage Assistant and 3 Coins for his backstage Manager.
at 1:54:45 you do *not* score for workers when playing with the Dark Alley.
At 52:21, I don't think Anthony paid wages for his Protege (who has learned 1 secret).
At 1:53:20, technically you still have to pay wages prior to end game scoring.
Last performance you gave Frances a point for a link that wasn’t in a circle. So no link.
I second the question inquiring about the card organizer holding the Academy components! Love it! Where might one get that?
Renee Harris The organizer is made by a friend of ours @boardgameboost on Etsy. This is one of his latest products called the CaddyMax.
Thank you very much! LOVED the playthrough!
At 1:20:56 when fame is tied, you must reverse the tied players' initiative order.
At 24:20 I believe player 2 paid too much in wages, it should have been 4 coins not 5.
at 23:20 Anthony buys an apprentice but sets the specialist die to X. This that considered a legal move ?
At 1:06:15, I don't believe Frances paid wages for her Protege with 1 secret.

In a 2-player game, player 2 starts with FOUR coins more than player 1, not 2 coins. So Player 2 should have started with 16, not 14.
Christopher Warr Misinterpreted this in the rules. Good catch.
Why is there a break?
Vascariz what break?
I think his referring to when you both say "after the break". :0)
Shelley Shaw Ah! Yes, that’s just TH-cam slang for our intro. I thought I left a gap of dead space in the video...
Can’t spend shards in the theater, oopsie :)
