58:19 You get the resources from the tile you land on, not the ones you pass. You do not get anything when placing a guardian next to a bonfire. You would have only got *TWO ROOTS* not the 5 resources in your play.
Just watched this video and it’s great! Always enjoy watching your “how it plays” videos. Seems like you both are having lots of fun. One question/rules clarification though. Seems like when you moved your guardians along the path you were collecting all resources you went past. In the rules it seems like you only collect the resource from the path your guardian ends their movement on. Page 10 of the rules “Make a procession.” It also happened around the 50 minute mark when Frances moved a novice to the high council action, which allowed her to move the guardian any number of spaces. She moved the guardian through a portal onto bonfire and should not receive any resources from what I understand. Please correct me if I am wrong on those rules. Thanks! Keep on creating and thanks for all your hard work that you put into your videos.
I just purchased this game but haven’t had a chance to play it yet. I always love watching these videos as it really helps me to understand it. Thank you for doing what you do, I appreciate it. 😃
Hi Frances and Anthony, have just wachted your excellent playthru and you will be responsible for my decision to acquire that great game. hahaha!! I have been thinking for weeks if I am going to buy it. But up to now I have resisted. Now that I have watched this video my decision is taken . And I am sure I will not regret it at all. Thank you so much for your awesome presentation of this Feld game
Hi Frances and Anthony. I have watched your video once again and tomorrow I will give it a try. Thanks again for your excellent job and Merry Christmas.
Going to play this for the first time tomorrow night (4 players) and went back to this older video. It was a big help learning and understanding the game flow. Now I'm excited about it and wondering how I missed it. Even thou Frances won, she still wanted 1 more turn.... good sign of a good design. Thanks.
Great play through as always. Bonfire is an amazing game. Feld is such a fantastic designer. Personally, Only Pfister sits ahead of him. We have been playing a lot of Feld lately with Bonfire, Aquasphere and Bruges seeing the most plays in our group. Oh my have we been playing a lot of Aqua Sphere-such an underrated title in my opinion. Anyhow keep up the great work👍
That is awesome! Thank you, we agree it’s fantastic. Aquasphere is also wonderful and underrated! We own Octodice as well which is worth trying out too.
I am tempted but Trajan and castles of burgundy is my gold standard for Feld games. How does this compare to those though and different enough to warrant a spot?
Honestly there’s really no comparison! Castles is good but there isn’t much going on compared to this one. I’d try it out of you can and see if it’s a good fit - it was for us!
I was excited when I first saw this come out. Then I got hesitant after some early reviews that didn’t like the theme and some of the randomness. I always thought the theme was pretty cool and seemed to fit well with the mechanics. I’m still torn but I think this will make my collection sooner than later.
For sure. I really can’t agree with there being a ton of randomness, so I wouldn’t worry about that. The challenge is in utilizing what you have to work with and for us, that’s where all the strategy and fun is. I hope you have a chance to check it out!
Is it just me or, while visually appealing, this game seems to be over complicated or unnecessarily circumvoluted? Also, it looks like you do very little each turn, so it takes a while to end up with a significant result.
We have played a lot of more unnecessarily complicated games for sure, this one is actually really clean and well put together. Euros tend to work this way, very micro, and your do a little on each turn (though hopefully more of you can get some bonus actions). Overall we loved it.
If this video helped you to decide whether or not to add this game to your collection, please give this comment a thumbs up.

Fantastic playthrough and review!
Thank you guys for returning to doing play through. May blessings come your way 🙂
Frances with the burn "It wasn´t really epic." 😂 Rubbing in the salt after winning. That is the spirit!

Thank you!
Just snagged this for Christmas and am excited to get it to the table!
Awesome game and so glad to see you cover it. One of our favorites! Also, cool looking expansion coming next year!

We enjoyed this one! Hope you have fun with it too.
This game is now on my wishlist. Such a unique theme. My wife and I love Feld games and this looks perfect for us.

@@AntLabGames great input. Will give it a shot then. I am always on look out for fresh takes.

At 1:07:15 I think you do 3 moves and get a fruit you shouldn't get
57:40 You should have got two guardian tiles, *THREE path tiles (instead of the two you took)* and one bonfire tile.
How do you feel about the solo side of this game?
We haven’t had a chance to play solo - we don’t get a lot of solo play time around here because we both enjoy playing so much :-)
looks like a cross between MERLIN and CUZCO(bora bora)
Seems very similar to the Darkest Night , lots of parallels
Awesome we aren’t familiar with that one but will check it out!
Good intro
Thanks!
