Thanks so much for this video, guys great playthrough and brilliant editing, looking forward to the next one! 😊 Also, thanks to everyone in the comments for all the love for Trickerion! 💜
Awesome play through. Looking forward to the next one! Two notes: The new rules for the Dark Alley have the decks face down and you draw 2 pick 1 for the action. Also the Dueling Mages deck is face up, letting the players see the upcoming round’s setup.
And even with the old rules, the Dark Alley cards should have been cycled as part of cleanup each round. Still, most important for this gameplay is to evoke feeling of playing the game so not a real biggie.
@@BeforeYouPlay Really enjoyed watching this, great job --- and yes, you will find the face down Dark Alley decks (draw 2, pick 1 for each time you do it) much better in terms of cutting down the AP in the game. Can't wait for the Academy play through, and thanks for the reboxing. I was getting so frustrated with all of the content in my box!
A couple of weeks ago I played Trickerion with 4 players and all possible expansions (Dark Alley, Dahlgaards Academy and Dawn of Technology). It took us 6 hours but it was one of the most awesome experiences in my boardgame career 😎 it was even super close and I lost with only one point to the winner (212:211). I love this game so much and it's an all-time top 3 for me 🤩
Woof. I am so jealous you have a game group willing to play this with all expansions. I recently moved so hopefully once I feel more comfortable looking for a new local game group I’ll find people that committed! This is definitely a game I don’t get to play enough. 😄
57:00 I don't know if it was my imagination, but when Monique put her glasses on, I feel like the gameboard got clearer... lol. You two are the BEST! You have the best interactions with each other. It's fun to watch.
I'm playing this game with a friend, so watched the video to remind me how to play. I have played this game twice in the past and it kicked my butt each time. I really liked the experiences of playing it, but I empathize with Navin's feelings about this game. Thank you for the play through!
Man, what a teach and a playthrough! You two are AMAZING at making these both digestible and simultaneously really FUN to watch. Trickerion is on my wishlist... I have to wait until my play group (aka family) is ready for this beast. Until then, I will vicariously watch your playthroughs! ❤️

It helps getting the mistakes out! I'm just happy that after the first time he still is looking forward to playing again :)
Awesome to see this up now, can't wait to watch. Bummer there are no copies to buy that I can find. Great playthrough. Your delay for editing makes sense now.. Im amazed you got a teach and playthrough to under 2 hours. This is probably the most AP inducing game I know of especially on the first turn. Cant wait for the DA playthrough.
Thank you so much for understanding! The 3rd camera angle (zoomed in theaters) added a lot to the editing time. Transferring the file was an absolute nightmare!! I think we’ve learned from this filming and will be sure to improve for the DA expansion (although it’s quite the table hog!! LOL)
Thanks so much for the video! Been a fan for awhile after watching your Escape Plan and On Mars videos which helped my wife and I break into heavier games, but forgot to hit that subscribe button :P Spotted your reboxing for Trickerion and went from, “Ooh! Magic Trick-themed board game!” to, “Where can I get that Collector’s Edition!” In about 72hrs! Really excited to get a chance to play it myself! Great play through and guide.
Thanks so much for this video! I don’t usually watch Playthrough, but you do it well and demandingly. Keep it up! It was a pleasure to watch the video on my tablet while I was baking pancakes in the kitchen. :D
There are just too many great games. I've only gotten this one played once, and really want to play it again, so so good. I definitely had the trick book in my hands as much as Naveen did here. In the preparation for the final round I realized that I was on material ($1 material too) short of getting a second level 3 trick - I had bought that material way back in round one and thought two of them would be fine. Of course, with as tight as money is in this game, I have no idea what the butterfly effect of spending $1 more in round one would have had for the rest of my game.
I've just got the game, so this is great. A very clear and concise explanation of the rules. Thanks very much. Looking forward to hearing what you think of Anachrony.
Great play through. I love Mindclash for crunchy thematic games. Not much you can do after the fact with the theater card. but it worked. Other than having the special assignment cards face down now and the dueling magicians face up, looked great. I am looking forward to the academy as I just received it with the big box and need a good play through.😁 Thanks 👍
Great video. Just started playing this game this week... so happy to watch you folks play. Thank you!!! (I'm not entirely sure, but I believe in a 2 player game, the second player starts with 14 money.)
I always forget to like and comment everytime urgh! But don't worry I'll go back to all the videos I already watched to comment and like. Anyway thank you for the amazing gameplay as always and I love you guys you make complicated games (or maybe it's just me) easier to understand thank you
You can learn a higher level trick even if you don't have the required points. You just have to pay coins equal to the difference in points. So if you have 13 points, you can learn a level 16 trick by paying 3 coins.
Just bought this with all the expansions! Been wanting for a few years now. I love the game, theme, mechanics, now, to find someone who’ll play it with me…
This game is heavy! But seriously looks so good!! Thanks for making the video; I'm on the hunt for the game. Also, just wanted to say thanks for playing rock-paper-scissors the correct way 😆
My husband totally destroyed me with his first 200+ point game of Trismegistus after watching your playthrough of that; I hope he's not inspired to bulldoze me in Trickerion after we watch this one! ;-)
Hey Monique, is that a Rocketbook? I have one too and freaking love it. Also, I’m a first time commenter but I’ve been watching your videos for a long while, and you guys do the BEST rules overviews and playthroughs. Thank you for all the hard work that goes into it!
1:07:40 don't you need to follow the types of your tricks when you move a marker from one theatre to another? Ok, Monique changed it but what if the shard would be under the chain symbol? Can you choose whatever direction you want for the trick marker or do you need to follow trick's type?
Perfect choice, I have all their games and all of them are awesome in their own way. I think Trickerion is the least good (their first game), Anachrony is one of the best game I've ever played and Cerebria is a very unique and complex are control game. The card game version of it is working quiet well. I'm waiting for their next game Perseverance, hopefully, it will arrive this year
Haha lots of editing to condense the game down to 1:40. We want you all to have the best viewing experience possible! Our filming time was about 3:00+ 🤣
Heeeeelp ! 😉 the 'Guest' Magician (the passiv who was not Performing but with Trick Tile on the Showboard) has become the Thursday Malus or the Sunday Bonus or only the Things for his Trick?
why cant you visit the stage before you set-up the tricks? I thought the loading mattered only in preparation for the performance phase or am I missing something here?
Ah, just spotted a rule mistake. The Dual of Magicians turn-setup deck, is supposed to be face up, at all times, to allow players to plan ahead for the next turn's blockers.
Nice play through. I was able to follow along to give my first play a try and it was very helpful. Thanks! Did you ever end up doing a vid for Dalghard's Academy? I can't find it on your channel, just a vid for the Collector's Edition.
We haven't tried it solo, but I think 3 players might be the sweet spot. It gets much longer with more players. As for expansions, Dahlgaard's Gifts is fantastic if you're playing with 2-P. The Academy expansion is also great but if it's your first time playing, I'd say base game + Dark Alley is great.
@@BeforeYouPlay thanks for the reply!! I'll look into the suggested expansions! It's seems like a lot of fun. Do you two have any suggested games that are engaging and the optimal player count is 2 for it to shine?
