@@miscellaneous__bones the strings need to be the right length. Otherwise the frets would be offset and even if you tuned it right you would get the wrong note on some frets

I don't play ukulele, and am not familar with string instruments (I was a brass player lol).. But something just felt wrong watching him do it.. I'm glad my intuition was right, even though I have absolutely no clue why 😂

Но вопрос в другом, нах&я я смотрю это в 3 ночи??!..
Все конечно хорошо, но как можно делать музыкальный инструмент не отмеряя длину мензуры? Если только для сувенира, т.к сыграть на нем вряд ли что то получится

That being said, looks like you had fun making this one, which is all that's important. I'd love to see some more fancy-looking instruments in the future!
It's a mock-up, not the instrument. $10 Chinese crap would sound better. I hate when so much work is put towards an instrument that has no chance of being good. And I'm long time fan of Nick, not a hater:(

People pronounce the h differently in different places, and depending on how it's pronounced, one will just flow better.
Nick, before you make your next guitar project I would suggest popping over to Crimson Custom Guitars on TH-cam. I think you have the ability to make a fully functional guitar, but you need some guidance.

I would literally sell everything I own to buy that. That is probably the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my 17 (almost 18) years of living. Give me the powers you have to make one cause I NEED that in my life.

Omg love this!!! I also came up with some suggestions to maybe spice up some pencil project: maybe think of a design with the colour pencils like rainbow to accentuate the colours in the pencils, cuz they get a little bit lost by my opinion and maybe ad a little bit of transparent colour to the resin for some extra funky ness also to make the pencils fit perfectly next to each other maybe tape them together with some tape (like the elastic around the bundels) thatway the pencils tend to fall in place perfectly and I think it also might help with the rising.
Again love this!!! and these are just some adjustments I whould make and if I get the opportunity I will definitely give this a try!

Okay but if you sold these I would buy one right away-
It looks really cool but there are a lot of things wrong with this from a guitar/ukulele stand point. There are no spines on the top. Nylon strings on steel string machine heads. The neck break angle is wonky, as well as the string line up (this is why the first string is strung the wrong way around). Which means the intonation is way off. As a display/art piece, it’s great! As a functioning instrument, it leaves a lot to be desired.

It could definitely be either way, but I think it could be one of those things where it came across as rude because it's online, and there's no non-verbal communication. We also can't hear the commenter's tone of voice. Maybe the commenter will reply and clarify? 😁

ever tried to make a mold for the pencils where they're on a bit of an angle, like / ? so more of the pencil will show on top and not just a lil circle. and you'd even get the striations that look so cool.

net time you are winding strings a drill and a two prong fork about 3/5 in wide is a godsend haha i made mine from hollowed out pencils and some moderately stiff wire

Now you have the piece of pencil block that you removed from the internals of it, with which you could make another smaller ukulele. Ultimately you could probably make several, down to a child's instrument, and have a piece left with which to make something else.
