  • Our Austronesian Heritage | A Brief History of the Philippines Pt. 1
The Austronesians are a large group of various people living in the Indopacific region which occupies Taiwan, Maritime South East Asia, a large portion of the Pacific Ocean, and Madagascar.
They share a lot of commonalities in terms of heritage and culture, but how they spread out throughout the Indo pacific is still being studied.
This is part 1 of a series of short videos about the history of the Philippines.

Of the Austronesians, there has been no heavier colonial invasion than in the Philippines (yes, our ancestors, the first in East Asia, were driven out by Qin of China but we went on loving our coastal way even reaching the Americas). Many Filipinos today are surprised to know this or embarrassed by our brown skin. But we know deeply when curtains are drawn that the sounds of drums move you; that the elements of the sea talk to you; that you can feel energies beyond what is in you. We are highly spiritual , when centered, we are capable of feeling and seeing others inside. This may be why many of us are not one percenters in the world. People have to be void of feelings in order to destroy the life of others. The US has captured this and turned this into an industry in healthcare and servitude. It's time we awaken to our gifts and use it to protect what is most important to us, that is love for our nature and mankind. With this information, we go forward.

its just a fringe theory that the natives of south America are connected to the austronesians who became the polynesians. one instance in which this can be disproven is a discontinuity when it comes to language and culture. All austronesianic peoples share a common language ancestor (proto-austronesian; ie formosan natives). the languages of the natives of south America, i believe have no connection with this language group. They also don't share similar cultural artifice.
However, it is important to note that most of the things that are lacking anthropologically are from the natives of south America (because their own peoples have been replaced by whites and blacks). Maybe if it can be recovered, we can find lingual and cultural ties to the polynesians and therefore ties to the austronesians of south east Asia.

Btw there has been a recently published scientific journal contesting the dating of the "out of Taiwan" Theory from 3000kya to now maybe 7-8kya, the title of the report if I remember correctly is "migrations into the Philippines in the last 50,00 years". DNA analysis has confirmed from their findings that modern day cordillerans are the least admixed descendants of the "original" Austronesians and that the modern day indigenous people's of Taiwan are recently (if that's the right term) diverged from ours, meaning that there is only an indirect connection say between the Ami, Atayal and others to the other Austronesian groups. Further supporting the fact that even though we all dispersed from Taiwan, it wasn't a simple north to south journey because genetic data (Supplementary info) reveals otherwise in regards to the diverse ethnic groups in the archipelago (genetic dates in some Visayan ethnic groups show wide differences) and that most likely; any Austronesian expansion not more than 7-8kya (which is unlikely) are directly from our islands. The people who dispersed 3000kya to Oceania as an example, more likely than not are descendants of the cordillerans. We are more like each other than the modern day aboriginal Taiwanese because we have diverged from them 7-8kya. We could have known more about this but we didn't till now, academics and scientists have ignored the rich history of our islands for far too long and justice has been served with this enlightening information which I hope will spawn more in the future.

There are 3 migrations that happens in across oceania or across the Pacific islands. 1st one came out of Taiwan, aprox 43,000 years ago, (Philippines, Indonesia, Madagascar, part of India, PNG, Palau, Yap proper, Marianas Island, Fiji and Australia) These places, have some things in common (chewing betelnuts and their tattoos)
2nd one, aprox 3000 years ago, ( all through Polynesia, went down and turns around settle the rest of the islands in Micronesia and parts of Melanesia. New Zealand is the last island to be settled). then 3rd one after Aprox 1200 years. Overall, Pacific islanders ancestors came from Taiwan and the Phillipines....

@@santospaul8103 that's wrong too, the people of Melanesia are mostly located in the region of Sahul and thus share ancestry with the aborigines. Their tribe basically walked into south east Asia back when the sea levels were lower and exposed land bridges that connected maritime southeast Asia, australia and locations like papua new genea and fiji to mainland Indochina. the locations that didn't have much connection with is Micronesia and the Polynesian triangle. When the seas rose, it further isolated these lands, making micronesia nad the polynesian triangle free from human civilization due to the growing impossibility of traversing into these island via foot. the sea rising also caused the minor landbridge connecting Sahul (Papua and Australia) with the rest of Asia to disappear, isolating the people and therefore creating the aborigenes or also known as the melanesians.
The sea rising however allowed the austronesian tribes (natives of taiwan) to propagate into south east asia because they were extremely adept in sailing. Their skill in sailing also allowed them to populate previously virgin lands like micronesia and the polynesian triangle and some studies suggest that the natives of south America have kinship with the austronesians sailors.

The colonizing is out of our control at this point so it’s our duty to embrace one another and stop all the nonsense in-fighting. I too was a part of this and as I grow older I find the beauty in how we really are all one sea faring family. The History of the Great Far East Asian lands are now only beginning to get recognized. I remember reading about the "Menang Kabaw Sumatra" during my grade school years in the Philippines and their connections to the muslim tribes of the south.
The exploration of the Spanish king in the 1500s has destroyed the written and oral accounts of the pre colonial kingdoms in the Philippines.
Even the Family heirloom we have in the vaults of the bank is made of 36 Karat gold and has precious sapphires and emeralds which is a chain of belts and necklaces that we believed to have been a gift from a rich trader of brunei who came to the philippines in the 1300s. The archeologists couldn't figure out its origins because too much history has yet to be unravelled. And it is very very difficult.

In my opinion, Stephen Oppenheimer's theory from his book Eden In The East makes more sense than the theory out of Taiwan. because about 11 thousand years ago the land of Sundaland sank and spread Austronesian people all over the world and during the last ice age the earth's temperature dropped 12-15 degrees Celsius cooler than the earth's temperature now, humans in ancient times could not survive in areas other than the In the tropics, the Sundaland region was a gathering place for people in large numbers in the past because it was a tropical area and after the ice age ended and the sea level rose significantly, the Sundaland Austronesian people spread out. While we consider this as logical, I will add that in West Java there is a Gunung Padang megalithic site which is around 6 thousand years BC and even that can be recognized as even older if the structure taken from underground on Mount Padang is confirmed to be man-made. because it is around 13-28 thousand years BC, it is much longer than before the end of the ice age. and the Gunung Padang megalithic site has the same structure as the nan madol in the Pacific, the age of the nan madol site is around 2 AD.

The Taiwan model is incorrect. The movement originated in Southernmost China, and migrated southward through Southeast Asian into then prehistoric and ancient Sunda Land.
The movement's cul-de-sac ending, sweeping up to Taiwan through the Philippine Archipelago, arrived IN Taiwan approximately 3,000 years ago.

The longest versions of The Austronesian words are in Melanesia. For example the word for ear in Kuanua language is "talingana". The oldest versions of the language are from from Madagascar to Fiji. The Mongolian people who came down much later much later, shortened the words.

The oldest version is in Taiwan and Philippines not Madagascar to Fiji.
The Austronesians were brown people, but there were people who were black even before the arrival of the Austronesians. the Austronesians mixed with the blacks (Melanesians). Although the longest Austronesian word is found in Melanesia it does not mean that it is older because the original is Talinga and Tangila, There is no Mongolian influence on us, don’t make up a story.
