Love the detail in your videos Josh! Really appreciate the time you put into them! I have bought some parts for my 3126, can't imagine how much CAT gets for that oil cooler. Lol
CRACKED piston crown, (DT466). That poor engine, ran its heart out. Sad, how some people treat their stuff. I would say, it, had major neglect issues, and a serious side of non maintenance.
Thanks for the videos, I've learned a lot of information, I just cleaned up my block and head using my block sander ,but I used brake fluid while I was sanding, it worked great, I use brake fluid when I drill holes in steel and when I hone out a cylinder, it works great,,try it out sometime .thanks again.
Did an oil cooler on a twin turbo C13 a few weeks ago. Time consuming. Neglected truck. Had several broken exhaust studs, one church going flex pipe, rusted out flange on the exhaust pipe etc. Etc. I have used commercial flushes but Sani Flush toilet cleaner has worked well for me
I have used a radiator degreaser made by ve labs L11 in a cummins isx that had a failed oil cooler and the stuff worked awesome will not use anything else. It was recommended by a local industrial radiator shop.
Well with the cooler off we tried using a solvent sprayer with water and soap to flush out the block, heater core, radiator and sure compressor the best we could probably got 50% out doing that is my guess. Then 3 Dawn flushes and a water flush.
@@AdeptApe Hey, do you use 1 bottle of dawn to 10/11 gallons of water? And to be able to flush the heater core as well, what would I need to do? Just do the cooling system flush with the heater on wide open?
Used cascade at the KS shop. Didn't like it too much because it would settle at the lower hose of not premixed right. Used the cat flush and wasn't strong enough. Used Fleetguard Restore and that stuff was awesome. Can't get it anymore at the shop, so I'll see if they can swing some Dawn at the shop.
What a coincidence I just had to reseal my oil cooler on my 5.9 Cummins after the oil filter housing was discovered to be stripped by the previous owners when I was dropping in a new stock manifold and turbo. Just got it buttoned up a few hours ago.
It failed on me at 1.4 mil miles. Did full overhaul after, it took me 40 hrs of cleaning flushing replacing all hoses they started to sweat. It also cost me to dispose all that "gray soure cream" $1600 and to get to the shop $8700. My advice - change b4 it breaks but when it breaks it will cost 10x more
What can cause black deposits on antifreeze cap and expansion tank neck? I’ve heard the compressor can leak oil into antifreeze also, head gasket, maybe oil cooler? No problems with engine otherwise, oil is clean, doesn’t heat. I’ve had this issue for a few years and no one knows what it’s from. Cat 3406e 2ws single turbo

Should I replace the oil cooler? or should testing the coolant currently in the truck be the first thing I do to check for fuel mixture in it like you said?
@AdeptApe how long did it take to flush that really badly failed cool? Just had one of our mxs fail like that and got it all replaced and on flush number 2 and feel like a got a few days left to go😂

So mine leaks right where the front adaptor goes into the cooler itself, I assume the orange O-ring is bad, It only leaks when its below like 35* out, Is that oring easily changed out? It does not look like much has to come loose, just the 2 bolts holding the adaptor to the water pump?
Blew my turbo few days ago. Do you think I should replace the oil cooler or can I get away with not changing it the same time I replace the exhaust manifold and turbo and air cleaner air filters. Will I be okay by just changing the oil, cleaning air filters, and intake tubing? I just flushed my coolant with dawn/hot water with your flush guide video for coolant systems and replaced with shell rotella ELC NF 2 weeks ago so I really don’t want to have to do it again? Hello sir.what is the problem of our c18 it always overheat. We Already change thermostat. When we are in towing the engine will overheat but when its steaming it just normal. Can u suggest what to do sir?
I have a C15 with engine oil temp at 250 and coolant is at 210 no oil in coolant and no coolant in oil I;m thinking possible oil cooler problem any idea.
I am not a professional, but it could be blow by or exhaust gases past piston rings into engine block then causing oil temp to be higher. If you notice engine oil temp higher especially under a load this perhaps is the cause...
Why is it you don't like automatic dish detergent ? I read a Cat service bulletin before flushing my 3406, and it recommended a non foaming automatic dish detergent, if cat flush was not available. It actually worked very well for me.
Can I remove oil filter housing from cooler to change o-ring where filter housing bolts to block on 3406b? Or do I have to remove the whole oil cooler? Thanks!
How long can the engine run in that condition? ... Without causing further damage. In my case... Coolant was fairly clean coming from top of engine(so to speak) When I drained radiator I drained about 3gallons of mixture from it.
I was wondering the same thing. Were you able to even do the repair or did you recommend an out of frame rebuild. I'm assuming if you did the repair it was a best effort, no warranty job.
I was always told to use soap that wouldn't foam or bubble such as a liquid dish soap, that the bubbles cause cavitation in the pump and wouldn't have proper flow to flush very well. Just wondering if you had further thoughts on this?
I have used a cat cooling system cleaner and it is expensive for what you get is cleans but not like dish soap. The one thing I loved about the cat over the soap is it didn’t foam up at all so it didn’t take long to flush system after it was run through. But for price it’s cheaper to use dishwasher soap with a quick shot of dish soap is my choice it doesn’t foam up as bad as straight dish soap. That’s my experience with cat cooling system cleaner
