1983 Jeep SJ - fuel issue - Running off an external tank

Diagnosing a fuel issue on a 1983 Jeep Cherokee SJ 258 4.2L I6 engine. Since it runs on an external tank, we know it’s not the fuel pump. Can blow air back to the tank, so suspect sediment in the tank clogging pick up tube.
