- Beautiful Bags for Your Brompton.
We were kindly gifted a number of Brompton Bags from @Vincitaofficial but with no pressure to like them and we were not paid or asked to do this video.
Paul takes you through the Birch 2.0 and the Big Nash Rack bag he's been riding with for the last few months. He explains what he likes about them, any challenges and how he fits them.

We love anything bikes including Bromptons, handbuilt wheels, vintage bike restorations and cycle touring. - กีฬา
I have both, found the rear bag great but I often shop with the brompton partially folded and the rack bag can only be carried with the panniers folded away so a bit of a faff, but that as you mentioned is really the only thing from my perspective. Used both to go with the brompton to Bristol on the train from Aberdeen. Brilliant.
@@TheWeeRedCar thanks for watching and commenting! Glad you get on with them well 👍 Happy Cycling!
I was typing as I watched the video , and you have just mentioned it- about 5 minutes in. Ged
Great minds think alike 😀
Now I want a Brompton! With those bags of course! Great presentation 👍🏻
Thank you! Hope you get one one day 🤞🏻 You won’t regret it!
Thanks for this review on the vincita bags. It’s a great opportunity to use it on the rack. That’s what I’m looking for.
Glad you liked it! And thank you for your comment and watching 🙌
I have the smaller Nash bag and absolutely love it for day rides. I use a knockoff of the Brompton basket bag on the front most of the time, and I agree re: handling - I don’t notice any real difference between front-loaded and rear-loaded weight. In bad weather I avoid fully loading the basket for the same reason you mentioned: not being able to see the wheel when aiming along a bumpy wet/muddy track.
Edit: forgot to say! I got the Nash after seeing it in your earlier video, so thanks for bringing it to my attention 🙂
Hi! Thanks for watching and your comments. Good to know you don’t notice any real difference and great to hear! Glad you love it 👍
Hello Paul……great job on your channel!
Regarding the Vincita Big Nash, it’s a wonderful, well built bag but a word of caution to those owners of the Brompton P Line model.
The rear rack specific to the P Line is shorter than the rack for the other Brompton models. This means that the Big Nash cannot be fitted far enough aft to avoid the rider’s heels striking it.
Very disappointing! But it is what it is. No fault of Vincita.
All is not lost however as I can use the bag on my other (non-folding) bike, a Specialized Como electric.
Thanks again for your great content.
Hi Laurie, thanks for watching and the kind comments. Also, thanks for highlighting that issue with the P line model as we didn’t pick that up - good to know 👍👍
Do you know if the smaller size vincita rack bag will fit the P line roller frame?
Thank you for a great video! Regarding your question about there being any difference in handling when the front is loaded, I think there is. I recently loaded the bike up and went on tour and I noticed a difference in handling. I found the bike to be a lot smoother, more grounded. I had 10kg at the front and 10kg at the back.
Thanks for your comments and it’s interesting to know as I’ve not felt it although that is a good amount of weight. Happy cycling
Hello, I have the Vincita front bag, I bought it after I saw your first review. It’s a great bag, one thing that would make it better would be a bit of Velcro / clip to hold the flap of material up that covers the rear clip area. I’m using a small clip. It just holds the flap out of the way so you can fit it to the bike one handed. Ged
Agree! Glad you like it though!
Very nice and useful video. Thanks! I do like my front roll top bag, I think with time it is possible to find optimum ways to use any bag. It took me quite a few months to be able to do everything with the front bag comfortably. It does not taper up and hold great amount of cargo. It can be folded small when there is not much in it or leave open when it is full. Recently I started keeping the shoulder strap attached all the time, so I could take it off the bike and straight away put over my shoulder! When riding I tuck it in one of the side pockets so it does not get in the way. That way I can easily carry both the bike and the bag comfortably at the same time. Having this particular bag on the shoulder is particularly useful when doing grocery shopping. I just keep the bag one side and putting all of my shopping into it and the bike folded on my other side. I do not use the trolley mode as the shops I go in city centre is quite small and the bike is not very stable with a bag on it but without a rack and larger wheels. The only down side is the extra drag of such bag at front. Not really noticeable up to 25km/h but significant between 25-30 km/h. It really feels like an anchor once past 30km/h. Luckily I do not usually go much faster than 25 km/h. I do notice that, when using the front bag, the bike becomes more stable, but the difference is not huge. I equally feel comfortable with or without the bag.
Hi! Thanks for sharing your views - great to have your thoughts. What bars do you have? With the p-bars I think it may feel more stable as your hands are inwards and create less leverage
@@veloworks9266 I have medium bars. The ride stability issue on Brompton is really an interesting one. I think it’s the worst bike for the beginners. It’s very twitchy and unstable. Small tires cause accidents really easily if there is some obstacles on the road and the rider does not notice it. After 10 months using mine I occasionally catch off guard when the side of the tires get caught at kerb or something like that. However that said, after some time on the bike that disadvantage turns into an advantage as the bike is very agile and much better to navigate through heavy car or pedestrian traffic. I recently tried a full size a bike very briefly and in terms of manuverability, the full size bike felt like a titanic whereas Brompton was like a jet ski. I can do all the full size bike things like out of saddle climbs and very fast descents on Brompton but would never advise or consider Brompton as a beginner bike due to the reasons explained alone. Even for a rider who is experienced on Brompton it is easy to loose control due to bad road conditions in the UK.
I have a Vincita Padded Pouch for my one folding pedal. It is/was absurdly expensive, so I can't imagine what the large bag will cost (I will have to look at their Site)? But I do have a T-bag like copy from China and it suits me really fine, with the large pockets behind the bag, and rooms in front. And I'm able to change the front to my liking. I do like riding with it in front, so I have never reached to adding one of my titanium racks behind. Also as a Brompton Weight Watcher, I have now made my former Superlight come very close to the weight of a T-line, with mudguards. and 6 gears! Finn. Denmark
Thanks for the review really informative.
I’ve always believed if you are looking at your front wheel you aren’t looking far enough in front of you and will ride the bike more twitching as a result also way more likely to fall off or crash into things. If you are looking nice and far in front you can plan smoother lines and avoid bumps better.
Very true and well said! We agree. Thanks for the comment and watching 👍
Thanks for the great review. Look forward to the sightseer. Ive been looking at these bags as a future upgrade to my brompton. Thats cool about using the big nash with other bikes too.
Regarding small wheel size. I always notice the twitchness of it. I spend 99% of my time riding road & mtb bikes. I think if i road a brompton all the id start to recalibrate & be fine with it.
Thanks for watching and your comments. Agree with your thoughts - you seem to get used to what you are on. Not sure if I don’t find it so twitchy as the p-bars put your hands inwards therefore creating less leverage
Hello Paul,
Nice to hear your long term thoughts on the bags... I like the idea of the pannier type drop down pouches but if the would imagine if the pouches were full it could be quite difficult to clip the bag to the rack and likewise removing the bag. Thanks for sharing.
Take care.
Paul,,
Thanks for watching! I think if they are full it’ll make it easier to clip it as you have the weight pushing down but we will be testing this on a cycle tour 👍
I have the smaller Nash bag but I suspect it’s very similar in this regard; it *is* more fiddly to unclip the bag from the rack when the side pouches are full (and it’s also an ungainly thing to place on the ground when full 😄). However, it’s really not that bad, and I find it a worthwhile trade off to get the extra space when needed.
@@henryjtodd Thank you Henry
Hi Velo Works, In your review you said you had not used the rear Vincita bag for touring yet, I have looked at there sizes and they seem a little on the small size for cycle camping ( lightweight) I do appreciate the bag comes with panniers but I can't convince my self they are quite adequate for cycle camping, I would appreciate your opinion befor buying . Thanks
We haven’t used it for cycle touring yet but we did use the Brompton rack bag with a front back for touring (lightweight) and the Vincita has more useable space than the rack bag. But it would just come down to how packable your equipment is. Hope that helps 👍
Great review, thanks! One question: Is the rear bag not locked? Do we have to find an additional lock to be able to bike safely, without the fear of the bag being stolen?
Hi thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it. It’s a locking clamp that securely fits the bag to the bike but it’s not an anti theft device. 👍
Was one click away from buying the Nash bag when l read an owners report. The bag is fiddly to take off the rack with fully loaded side panniers. Fiddly as in you have to empty them in order to access the unclicking lever. I bought something else.
Thanks for watching and appreciate the comment. Not 100% sure why you wouldn’t close the panniers up anyway to take it off because you wouldn’t want to carry it with the panniers down 🤔 It works well for us 👍
Nice review. When the panniers are down, did your heel catch the bag when riding? Thanks
Thank you. And no, as long as the bag is far enough back 👍
5:20 yes, it's meant too be tucked.
Ah good to know it just then rubs on the bike so may stitch some Velcro to keep it folded 👍
Hi, is this the dark brown version?
Yes 🤎👍
Constructive criticism here instead of your suggestion of slowly turning the bag over and hoping that the sides that hold it to the rack stay in place would you be able to give us the measurements that are on the actual metal strip where it sides across it’s just following your suggestion, I’ve spent nearly 20 minutes trying to fit the bag but because it keeps sliding out of position I can’t seem to get it right so I think if you were to actually give the measurements written on the slide thing as previously stated it will help a lot of your viewers out. Keep up the good work.
Nice review. When the panniers are down, did your heel catch the bag when riding? Thanks
