  • I rode the Tiger 1200 Rally Pro from Germany all across the Balkans from May 2022 until October 2022. In total I covered 16,000+ km. This video is an updated review to share my experience. It does not cover all the features and specifications. If you want a detailed breakdown on that, check out my first video: • NEW Triumph Tiger 1200...
    It was almost love at first sight. I was pretty impressed how light the bike felt and how easy to handle it was. But when the off-road got harder in Montenegro and Albania, I faced some challenges. The Tiger 1200 Rally Pro might be lighter than its closest competition but its centre of gravity isn't. That makes it harder to handle if you need to walk the bikes over obstacles!
    Watch the video to find out if I decided to stick with the Tiger 1200 Rally Pro for my upcoming trip through Africa. And don't forget to subscribe if you want to watch our entire trip across the Balkans on the Tiger 1200 Rally Pro.

    I have this bike, and the keyless system doesn't work about 10% of the time (engine won't start). Please Triumph, give us back an option to start the bike with a physical key.

    Hy ... Joachim hier. Ich habe die Rally Explorer. Und Dein Video ist exakt meine Erfahrung. Ein zuverlässiges, kraftvolles Motorrad. Ja, man muss es beherrschen lernen, wenn es vollgepackt ist und damit im Gelände unterwegs ist. Meiner Erfahrung nach ist es auch Gewohnheit ein schweres Bike zu fahren. Das bedeutet nicht, dass es einfach ist, aber man gewöhnt sich an das Gewicht. Für mich ist die Rally Pro 1200 das perfekte Motorrad. Nicht nur für die Reise, sondern Every Day!
    Tolles Video, tolle Beschreibung. Viel Spaß auf weiteren Reisen. Ich freue mich mit Dir. Herzlichst Joachim

    Picking mine up next Saturday, can’t wait! May I ask what tyres you went for, for the trip?

      @advtravelbug6100  ปีที่แล้ว

      Amazing, enjoy! I changed the stock tyres to Metzler Karoo 4. Great off-road, b it slippy on tarmac in the rain and overall not the best mileage but they worked very well for this trip!

    Awesome review I have the Rally Explorer and more than pleased with it yes it is still top heavy especially with the 30L tank and I agree with everything you said especially the keyless I would also like just a light or just a message to say key out of range. Miss your videos looking forward to your videos on the 1200. I don’t think the 900 is a bad bike but would love to see some of the 1200 specs move over to the 900 like the semi automatic suspension and the shaft drive and even the 30L tank but maybe it would be to expensive so do you think we’ll ever see a 900 rally Explorer 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

    Biggest issue apart from the lack of basic things like odometer, engine temp and trip meter on the main display is that 1st gear idle is WAY TOO FAST. When you need to walk the bike out of a bog under its own power the idle speed of 18kph is way too high. Being a shaft drive you can not even change a sprocket yourself to tune the speed.

    • @bens5186
      @bens5186 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Get a BMW 1250 GS if your heart is set on a shaft drive… honestly though just get a chain drive. You can adjust gearing with a sprocket change so the bike rides how YOU intend to use it.

    Hello and thank you for your time and review. I’d like to ask you a question in regards to the 900 vs 1200 discussion. You mentioned that you rode the 1200 2 up, but mostly rode it solo on this particular trip. You said that you would prefer the 900. I can only purchase one more bike and need to decide between the tigers.
    Do you generally prefer the 900 because you don’t need to ride with a pillion? Is there anything beside the weight that makes you lean toward the 900?
    My wife wants to ride pillion for date nights. I am looking for a bike that I can commute to work on, can handle weekend trips with the wife or kid through the mountains and still be able to handle some basic “f roads” I think you called them.
    Anyway, I want the 900 weight but the 1200 power. Do you know what you would choose if you were in my shoes?
    I have a ktm 500 exc for serious off-roading, which makes me lean into the logic that the 1200 is more of a touring friendly bike.
    I’m sorry if this was too long lol.

    I have a bike that is keyless, I'm not a fan of it . Don't let the battery go dead in the fob. The battery went dead in both of my fobs.

    I have a 2015 Tiger Explorer and am thinking of what will replace it, this helped me but honestly I can't get the BMW out of my mind. Thanks for the video and editing that was a lot of work.

    • @advtravelbug6100
      @advtravelbug6100  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think we are so spoilt for options these days that you can’t really go wrong between a Tiger and GS. Take both for a ride and go with what feels best for you ☺️👍

    • @BryanDoesCinema
      @BryanDoesCinema ปีที่แล้ว

      @@advtravelbug6100 I hate how much maintenance the GS needs plus very expensive... seems like Triumphs are built like tanks, much less complicated but does the same thing basically. Stinks either way, great either way too.

    • @advtravelbug6100
      @advtravelbug6100  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BryanDoesCinema good point, service intervals are less with the Tiger! We spent so much more on servicing the bike these days but that’s because we travel so much faster than before 🤣

    I just purchased my 1200 Rally Pro, and I'm wondering about the maintenance. I'm about to submit to the first 600 mile service, but after that I plan to do my own. Is there anything special that you've noticed?

    • @advtravelbug6100
      @advtravelbug6100  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well the main observation being how great the service intervals are. I only had the basic first service and then the second one wasn’t due until 10,000 miles. I didn’t ride the bike after its second service. But I did have some issues with the hydraulic clutch during my travels. Some air got into it and I had to bleed it once we reached Athens. Enjoy your new ride. I wish I could handle it better - great bike!!

    Excellent review, especially since you compare it to the 900 and being your critical German self. 😅
    Have you ever tried the new Husqvarna Norden 901 Expedition? I think that would be the perfect off-road adventure tourer for two-up riding, minus the questionable reliability.

    • @advtravelbug6100
      @advtravelbug6100  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My critical German self 😂 I rode it very briefly but don’t think it offers the same comfort for long distance riding as the Tiger or GS. Not sure about two up on it but willing to give anything a go and report back 😆👍
