Cheers - thanks for this one...always good to hear how others go about organising for their tours etc. I have, in the past, typically overpacked, but I recently bought the 42 litre topbox for my Tiger 1200 (GT Pro) and its a revelation only taking a bag with a few t-shirts and pants in!! Don't focus on any negative comments (unless they're constructively critical)...I think the people who like your channel greatly outweigh those who only look to criticise etc....sod 'em! Keep the videos coming - I really enjoy the touring ones, as its something I absolutely love too!
Outstanding, insightful, and very helpful video my friend. You have taken the time to explain a lot of the questions that I had about packing, gear, preparedness etc.! I’ll have to pick up that bar riser extension, have noticed the same sensation after after nearly 3000 miles on my Rally Pro. I love your travel philosophy! You make it all look so easy! It’s so helpful. Keep it up. Cheers!
Agree they are so comfy, did an 850 mile day on way back from France in august with only fuel stops 15 hrs, comfort was the best I’ve experienced in 30 years of bikes
I'm just about to buy the Explorer version - will deffo check it has the latest firmware after watching this.. 👍. (Ps.. I'm also a Lancashire lad (Blackpool) - now in Australia)
Another brilliant and informative video once again , and well done for addressing the obvious rude comments about the way you speak , you are providing free content for peoples enjoyment at the end of the day , carry on the great work 👍
Great helpful video 👋 My last motorbike driving was in 1992😂 Now I’m looking for all helpful videos and recommendations about motorcycles… I definitely want ADV ones and after many months I decided to buy Tiger rally explorer. Thank you for sharing your thoughts Dziękuję Greetings from Milton Keynes 🇵🇱🤝🏴
Brilliant vlog. The risers are the same as mine and they are brilliant. Can't wait to get the update on the bike for the mode button. i am on holiday this week i think i will be giving Triumph in Cheltenham a call. i enjoyed the Italy trip too.
Just found your channel I enjoyed your informative approach, detailed and non sensationalist! Also interesting to hear your views on Pro v Rally, personally I preferred the GT range (a bit more nimble / manageable or at least that’s how it felt for me) and selected the Pro for broadly similar reasons. 850 miles in one leg is serious distance hats off to you, testament to how good the Tiger 1200 is whatever the iteration (and of course you’re own fitness) 👍
Thanks Andrew 🙏👍 yes the Tiger is a great bike and have loved every second of ownership so far. I have never ridden the GT Pro road one so can’t compare and at the time loved the Rally version that I took from triumph to Switzerland in 2022 so went for the Rally Pro in 2023
Great video, thanks! I currently ride a Tiger 800 XRx which is great, but seriously looking at a 1200. Still torn between the Rally Pro (love the khaki green, and also like a bit of soft-roading) and the GT Pro, which I believe is a bit more nimble in the twisties, and 5kg lighter for what it's worth. Haven't ridden the GT Pro yet, but can flat foot the Rally Pro even with the seat at full height, so the weight of the thing over my 800 is more of a concern than anything else. Decisions decisions!
Thanks 🙏 for me the Rally just looks better only my opinion. And the rally is just as good handling again my opinion but i do have Pirelli scorpion trail 2 on which are more road focused tyres
@@MOTOUK1 Yep, love the look of the khaki green Rally from the side, but oddly enough prefer the view from the cockpit of the white and grey tank ;-) The Rally I'm looking at has Michelin Anakee Adventure (80/20) boots, which seem to get overall good reviews.
Great walkthrough, I really enjoyed it. Can not make up my mind on a 900 or 1200. Does the 900 also have the feautre to lower by pressing the home button? I fully understand when your talking about we/us instead of I/me, it's y'all, you and the bike. You talwk how you want to, if people cant understand you, they got a problem. I even understood when you talk about petrol instead of gasoline hahahaha. Liked and subscribed.
just finished my 2nd tour from Switzerland with one of the air seat covers so made a difference from my first and better when raining bum dont get cold from the water (looking to swap to tiger next year) great video
Thank you, good walk through. I am shopping for a bike and really like both the 900 and the 1200. I wonder, what is the life expectancy really? If I service it well, and on time, change wear parts like bearings and so on, would I expect it to make say 300K Km? Can I expect same ODO as on a car? Just wonder so I know, kind of what is the cost per milage, or km for me. Cheers from Swede in Mexico
Hi Magnus 👋 thanks for tuning in. I used to think bikes can go to 100k miles but with engines being so good these days I guess more with maintenance. I only ever take them to 30k then trade in for newer models
@@MOTOUK1 Well, I cant afford to change that often. I understand that some street race bike that averages 7-8000 rpm cant last so long, but if one is driving around on something like a low rev bike, should they not be able to last much longer. Can one compare the total milage on a 30K bike with a 30K car (pounds, dollars or euros). I mean if I buy a Corolla, I would easily expect it to go 300,000 Km with just services. But can I with a BMW R18, a Can-Am Spyder, a Tiger 1200, a KTM SAS, a Harley?
Very good vid nick I’ve got a 900 RP is the 1200 worth the extra money ? Well said if people don’t like the way you talk jog on 👍 keep up the great vids
Answer: depends what you use for really, if it’s super long trips then yes, if not then no. You can do on both though but I think the extra comfort on the 1200, and the larger engine works better for longer trips. Now I don’t ride off road so can’t comment on that side. The 1200 is a big bike compared though so if you’ve never ridden one test ride first. Many thanks 🙏
@@MOTOUK1 have ridden both and have done a trip to Spain and Portugal and then France this year both around 2000 miles on my 900 had it from new a year and a half ago and done 16000 miles but just wonder if there would be a bigger enough difference to be worth the change nick ?
I just don't get the 30L fuel deal, sure if you happen to live (or are going) somewhere very remote where finding fuel can be tricky it might be handy. The old argument of "it stops you having to stop for fuel so often" just doesn't hold water for me, my backside cries stop long before the 200+ miles and the 3 to 5hrs it takes to cover it.
Tbh on the explorer I sis the Switzerland trip on last year 2300 miles on 6 tanks was good while travelling abroad not knowing where the next fuel station is. I don’t do enough touring to warrant the 30lt. Also the tiger is one of the comfiest bikes I’ve ever ridden in 30 years. Did an 850 mile day no discomfort on it
I tried both and bought the Explorer. My decision was based on my commute to and from work which is 50 miles each way. I don’t ride every day as often travel by train, but I can get around 350 miles out of my tank which saves me having to fill it anywhere near as often. The bike also came with a higher spec and didn’t feel any heavier to me when I took them both for a test
I’ve been considering the road tyres such as Pirelli Scorpion due to the noise from the street Karoo. Is it ok to run a Pirelli road tyre in the front and continue with the Karoo street in the rear ?
Hi, Just got a new 2023 Rally Explorer 1200 (new old stock), but for some reason my TFT has no ambient temperature display. Any Idea why that is ? owner manual and TFT menu's show no way to turn it on or off. my temperature units also wont switch from C to F, its only got a C option.
Hi MotoUK, Great videos!! Getting a lot from your experiences. I just bought a 23 1200 Rally Pro. Where and what model bar risers did you install? Thanks. Dave
Hi Dave, many thanks 🙏 here is where I bought from voigt-mt.de/Handlebar-riser-with-offset-for-Triumph-Tiger-1200-RALLY-PRO-2022-25-mm-higher-and-20-mm-closer

Is that upgrade to lower the suspension free from triumph????I've a 2023 gt explorer 4 months old....Great review by the way like your videos follow all the time😎👊👊👊...just me not we😅
Mileage on the Tiger, I was getting real world 232 miles per 20lt re of fuel. 👍
That’s good! My 14 litre MT09 gets just over 100 😅🤦🏻♀️
How tall are you and what is your inseam
@@jonnyandsamofficial dam touring i get 70mpg or 160 a tank stretched it out to 224miles once too mines a 21 plate if that makes the difference MT09SP
I have the same bike but what speed do you maintain with this mileage? I don't think I get close to that hahaha
also is that with 99 (E5) fuel or basic stuff as that makes a good difference
