There are a lot of people & some kids who can't or not allowed to have pets where they live. You can make an arrangement with them to keep it at your house as long as they help care for it. If your health isn't good enough to care for a cat, some birds can be very affectionate & easier to take care of.

    1) if you see flees running and jumping around on your cat while you brush, you are way too late....
    Buy a flee comb and use that once a week. if you see little black crumbs (flee poop) or get a flee stuck in it then you can use some of those "neck drops" like frontline etc to get rid of the flees.
    also, keep in mind that if you are way too late and have a lot of flees in your house, their eggs will be in all quiet fluffy corners. like behind the scratching pole or in the corners of rooms where you have carpet. you need a rather nasty spray to get rid of em at that point :/
    but, please do not use those mentioned preventatives as actual preventatives. Use them when you have proof of flees.
    because flee populations can become immune to those substances.
    2) If you cant brush their teeth (I cant either) Than keep a "nose" on their breath.
    an animals breath always has a bit of a smell to it of course, but if it is a really strong smell or even a stink they probably have a (dental) issue that needs taking care of.
    3) Just my personal opinion, but neutering at 8 weeks old or even 4 months old seems wrong.
    I am all for neutering, all my cats made a trip to the vet to get that done. but I believe that a cat, just like a human, needs all of their hormones to grow into a normal adult. I don't think anyone would find it acceptable to remove the testicles from a 5 orso year old human boy or the ovaries from a girl that age and not give hormone supplements to make up for that.
    anyway, just my thoughts, I am not an expert on this matter so i could of course be wrong.

    • @Aliandrin
      @Aliandrin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree with you on early spay/neuter. So do dog breeders. People don't seem to have the same respect for cats and the way they're naturally supposed to be, except for their claws for some reason.

    • @kimarna
      @kimarna 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Neutering a male too late can affect their temperament for life if they fully enter puberty. They can be more aggressive and stuff

    • @PSKResearch
      @PSKResearch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Males can start a smelly spraying habit, become aggressive, or anti social, & it may not stop after they're fixed, if you don't fix them early. A cat also can become pregnant at only 4 months old.

    • @Aliandrin
      @Aliandrin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Males *can* spray if allowed to fully mature. And cats can shred furniture if allowed to keep their claws. I'm just not sure why in one case it's evil to choose anything other than how Nature intended the cat to be while in the other we're perfectly entitled to say fuck Nature I choose my house.

    My cat enjoys the out doors, but she needs protection from wild animals. I purchased a small animal “playpen” set it in the shade on the driveway and bring it inside when we’re done. This way we can both enjoy the outdoors. If I get busy and forget to take her out she sets by the door and meows at me as a reminder.🖤🐾🐈‍⬛

    I remember a tip about helping cats with fur balls and helping them pass them more easily. Put a tiny bit of petroleum jelly (like Vaseline) on the side of your cat's paw, just a little. Your cat will lick this when grooming which is supposed to help with hair ball problems. I've never needed to, but it was a vet that told of this tip, so you won't be poisoning your kitty!
    (Of course, I'm just someone online, so look into it more if you wish and any further info is always welcome 😊)

    We live in a very rural environment - my last cat was an outdoors cat. He loved sitting on the front porch. He guarded it religiously against everything from dogs to raccoons. "You shall not pass" was his motto. Of course, he went on his cat patrols as well, bringing a large number of rodent corpses to our door. He was a cat mutt. I have no idea what breed he was - he was not a ginger cat, he was not a tabby, nor did he have any easily identifiable traits like, say, a Siamese or Scottish Fold or Persian or Maine Coon would have - but he lived for a whopping 26 years. In fact, all of our cats have been outdoor cats - and they all lived well into their 20s. It really all depends on where you live.

    For our cat, we started her as a kitten with a half a can of wet cat food. Once in the morning and once in the evening. Throughout the day we kept the bowl full with a small portion of kibble if she every got peckish throughout the day. For an entire year she grew at a healthy pace. Now she is a year, on the same portions. Kibble throughout the day with a half can in the morning and night. She only eats when she is hungry and has maintained a great weight since then. It's much harder for those with older cats or rescues. This is just a tip for those with kittens. It is possible to free feed cats, they need to know and learn there will always be food. My cat never panics or yowls because she knows she will always have food available. She can eat whenever she needs to.

    The first one is not likely to happen to my cat cause we don’t feed her too much or less. The second one might be something that is what happens because either we can’t find the right place or that we simply don’t always have the time, my parents don’t seem to bring her to the vet, but we do bring her to pets art ban field. My cat has fleas but we are trying to get rid of it. My cat’s teeth hasn’t been cleaned since we got her. Next visit to buy stuff for Tabby, I will make sure we buy cat toothpaste if we find one that isn’t expensive (my mom says the ones she saw are expensive but I found cat toothpaste that are not expensive) my cat never had a hairball since we got her. My cat is spayed already since we got her. Declawing is an unnecessary thing and a cat should not be declawed

    I never considered declawing my cats. I always was the type to let them be outdoor cats and declawing takes away their way to defend themselves, they can't climb trees to get away from certain predators that can't climb trees, they can't hunt for food if ever the situation happened they got stuck in the wild. Even if they were indoor cats, that still matters, just incase they did get out somehow.

    De-clawing a cat is barbaric, a procedure that is designed more to placate and pander to the vanity, selfishness and ego of the human owner. The importance of claws to a cat, cannot be over stressed. They are so much an absolutely vital part of a cat's anatomy and they should NEVER have to undergo the pain of having the procedure done. A vet that would willingly carry out this procedure is not one I would take my cat to, and as far as I'm concerned not one that should be practising on any animal regardless of what it is. If you can't accept the occasional scratch (usually accidental) on your person, or 'pulled' clothing, furniture fabric or wallpaper, then you shouldn't be homing a cat in any circumstances - end of! Full stop! My cat is loved dearly even though he doesn't enjoy the best of health these days. He's my best mate and when his time finally comes it will be a sad, sad day..... of course, he's a major pain in the arse at times, but I wouldn't have him any other way.

    While physical punishment works for dogs (not endorsing it, but it does work) cats just don't learn that way because they're not social animals. Wolves in wolf packs will physically punish other wolves by biting them or forcing them to turn over on their backs, so dogs have the evolutionary history to understand that, but cats just don't. Even as a last resort, don't do it, it won't work, it only confuses the cat.

      I agree totally. I’ve had dogs & cats & have never had to discipline them. I think punishing them only confuses them & Will break their spirit, making them less likely to bond with you. Sure maybe my pets were spoiled but they were the most lovable intelligent animals I’ve ever known. ❤️

      Yep. Use them after they get fleas, not when they don't. They're easy to get rid of, & won't stay long on people or furniture.

    One thing not mentioned with letting cats outside or not, is the damage cats do to wild populations.
    They will hunt even if well fed, and there have been entire species made extinct by cats before even!

    if vets were honest and not shady people who rip you off lie to you and is actually not a good thing so feed well exercise them but remember its a cat and your human medical bills will be huge someday and if you have kids prepare for that but i would not waste my money on a vet if i dont absolutely need to and if it was like that i am unable to afford to take a cat in for surgical so if cat suffering put cat down lucky for me both my cats lived to be almost 20 so ive had 3 cats that have all lived to that ripe age absolutely no vets in there life i recommend spay or nuter ..

    Something else to consider with not letting your cats outside is that they will use the world as their litter box (potentially including your neighbour’s yard). It isn’t very considerate to assume this is ok.

      meh. my neighbors let their own pets poop in their yards I'm pretty sure my cat isn't crossing lines, they tend to stick to secluded areas of yards like flowerbeds or under brush anyway. imo that's just helping fertilize the plants lol

    I have never hit my cat. It is extremely rare I have yelled at my cats over the years. It has happened when things were bad enough, I was in a horrible mood, having bad luck with my life and they did something bad enough. But it was so rare and I am pretty good to them, that things were still good between us after a little calm down time, they just let it slide. Never took much time for them and me to be back to our usual happy, friendly companionship. And these days I am pretty good at avoiding the horrible angry yell at them.

    En ymmärrä, miksi kissojen kynsien poistaminen on sallittua joissakin maissa. Se on todella julmaa eläinrääkkäystä, johon vain eläimistä julmin (eli ihminen) kykenee 😢. Älä ota kissaa, jos kotonasi ei saa kynsiä mitään!!!
